With the November international break now behind us, there is plenty of football to be played across the month of December as we head towards the New Year, and potential January transfer speculation has already seen a spike over the last few weeks. That is only going to get worse – particularly as Rangers fans will be waiting to see what tweaks new manager Philippe Clement will make following is arrival at Ibrox, and the latest to be suggested is former Motherwell versatile attacker Kevin van Veen.

The 32 year old Dutchman impressed in his two seasons with the Steelmen, and having left them last summer for FC Gronigen, he had a record of 34 goals in 60 Scottish Premiership starts. Returning to his homeland has turned into a bit of a nightmare though, with him having some deeply personal issues with a small section of the crowd, and with only ten starts during the current campaign (five goals), it is now being reported that he has now also fallen out with the manager, so for those who use betfred promo code, as they enjoy a small flutter, it might be worth taking a quick look at the potential odds available.

Speaking to the media about what his future could hold, van Veen revealed that there had been previous interest from Rangers before he made his £500,000 switch to Gronigen, so of course, we are again being linked with having an interest.

“The move back home’s not worked out the way I had anticipated. My girlfriend is expecting our first child in the next couple of weeks, and it’s becoming more and more difficult for me. I knew when I went to Groningen that it would present a challenge because of our domestic situation, but it has been much harder than I thought it would be. I was back in Scotland last week, then returned to Holland. I realised then the next time I made the trip, I might have to hold our baby, then hand him or her back and leave them behind. That hit me really hard. Family is so important to me and I think it’s going to be difficult to do that.”

Obviously given the spell he had at Fir Park, he would not rule out a return to them, but he did tease an Ibrox interest, by saying.

“Last season my agent told me there was definitely interest in me from Rangers, though at my age I maybe don’t fit their profile. I had a lot of happy times in Scotland and I’d never rule out more.”

Van Veen confirmed some of the speculation surrounding the fall out, and he appreciates he is paying the price for over stepping by being benched recently.

“The coach and I had a discussion and I crossed a line in the language I used with him. Since then I’ve been on the bench and that’s caused a bit of interest. My agent’s had calls from six or seven clubs asking about the possibility of a loan in January. That would be the sensible alternative if things stay the same.”

You would not ordinarily think he would fit our profile, but we will have to see whether or not we do have an interest.
