Dessers Deal Still Some Way Off

Despite two great goals in his last two outings, Cyriel Dessers still looks to be heading towards an Ibrox exit. While there have been no firm bids, interest from French and Italian clubs is giving Rangers some hope that they can bring in some money, reduce the wage bill, and look at potential targets.

Rangers fans who access the best football betting sites might have abandoned hope of a serious title race after dropping points in recent weeks (and odds now at around 20/1), but Igamane’s form has seen him emerge as the favourite to finish top goalscorer.

Following Kyogo’s move to Rennes, the Moroccan forward has emerged as the favourite after his impressive recent form saw him overtake Dessers as Rangers main striker.

However, as Ciaran McEneaney explains, with so many betting sites and markets to choose from, Rangers fans could find great value in Dessers if he doesn’t move on.

Should Dessers Stay?

There is no doubt how much of an exciting prospect Igamane is, and scoring 12 goals in the last 16 games across all competitions has been an excellent return.

However, Dessers scored his eighth league goal of the season in style to cap off a great comeback against Dundee United, lashing the ball across the keeper and into the top corner from a tight angle.

This was his first away league goal of the season, and some of this can be put down to Rangers’ terrible away form. However, when you look at the stats, Desser’s reputation for wasting chances could be unfair.

Both players have an average of one goal every 128 minutes, but Igamane has almost double the amount of shots at 59 compared with Dessers’ 32. Shot accuracy of 53% for Dessers puts him ahead of Igamane at 41%, and a goal conversion rate of 25% is also better than Igamane’s 15%.

Celtic’s decision to let Kyogo go could be a mistake if they are unable to replace him, and whether Rangers can rely on Igamane and the injury-prone Danilo for the rest of the season without Dessers remains to be seen.

One player who wants Dessers to stay is Bajrami who has made it clear how happy the team were with Desser’s superb strike against Manchester United.

Exit Bound Ibrox Stars

Dessers would command the highest transfer fee from expendable players, with Dowell, Lawrence, and Matondo among the other players likely to leave soon.

While Rangers are unlikely to get much above a few million, getting players off the wage bill would be a massive help.

Dessers Interest

After 2 years in Glasgow and a decent return of 40 goals and 14 assists in 89 games, a number of European clubs have registered their interest, though no solid bids have been made.

Saint-Etienne were heavily rumoured to be interested before the transfer window opened, but a return to Italy for the former Cremonese man could be on the cards with Monza, Cagliary, and Empoli all showing interest.

Spanish outfit Leganes has also been mentioned, and if he is to leave during the transfer window, hopefully, Rangers can improve their recent negotiation tactics and receive a decent amount that can be reinvested in the squad.
