With some small doses of optimism beginning to return to the Ibrox fanbase as Rangers started to show some better signs of consistency in our performance levels as we progressed through the month of December, it has all gone a little bit pear shaped again for manager Philippe Clement.
Existing issues in our play are back to the fore and our away form continues to be a huge topic of conversation with us recently registering back to back draws on our travels, and it had looked like January might have been a very good month for us given the manner of how we opened the New Year as it seemed we had learned our lessons. For those fans who dabble with popular online casino games, much like Crypto Betting Limited’s guide suggests, you look at the pros and cons and do your research so you can put it into play and avoid mistakes, and Rangers keep making the same mistakes.
Naturally as the media, and fans alike, dissect recent events it will drive most eyes back to the January transfer market and after much talk during the build up to January 1st, we are yet to strengthen and make our first capture.
The speculation rumour mill remains as busy as ever, and as well as plenty of incoming suggestions, there is still talk that we will attempt to move a player or two on to help bolster whatever finances are available this month as Clement not only looks to save his own job, but more importantly so that we show significant improvement between now and the end of the season so we can actually look forward again, as opposed to inconsistently treading water.
One of the bigger stories doing the rounds again concerns 30 year old striker Cyriel Dessers. Dessers’ over all record at Rangers following his arrival from Cremonese back in the summer of 2023 is good with 34 goals in 60 starting appearances, but there is no hiding his own inconsistency in front of the net and the deficiencies that exist within his play, and with him back on a barren run of six games without a goal, he is now completely out of favour and looks even more likely to move on.
With three reported offers coming in from Serie A side Cagliari previously, but being rebuffed for a variety of reasons, it is being claimed that they are now preparing to come back with a fourth proposal to take him off our hands before this window closes.
The biggest question from our point of view is whether or not the Italian strugglers would meet our valuation of him, and then ultimately, how would that valuation be reinvested by the club so we see clear improvement at the top of the pitch.
The six capped Nigerian international already knows the Serie A division pretty well from his spell at his former club and he would no doubt be interested in a deal being done with him seemingly out of Clement’s plans with him falling behind Hamza Igamane and Danilo in the pecking order, and as third choice striker we would, or should, clearly be open to a deal that suits us.
With him under contract until the summer of 2027, it would not only be the received transfer fee that we could put to better use across the pitch, there is also the wage commitment to consider.
Whatever happens, fans will want to see action and movement sooner rather than later in an effort to turn our fortunes around.
