Dave Vos new assistant manager

odd final paragraph unless im missing something

Van Bronckhorst played between 1998 and 2001 for the Scottish record champion, which was then still called Glasgow Rangers. The current Rangers will play at home against Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday and that means the debut for the former defender on the bench. Van Bronckhorst was not on the couch last Sunday, then the Gers lost to Hibernian (1-3) in the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup tournament.
A few of the fucking players would’ve been as well on the couch though!

Could be interesting for Paterson and Kelly; he will know about transitioning to the first team etc.
This is the biggest thing we’ve been missing for years getting the transition from a quality youth player into the first team on a regular basis and if there’s a club to copy doing it from there’s no better than ajax and hiring one of there top coaches is a good way to go about it

Not sure you leave being Ajax U18 Manager to work with our academy.

Next step is to move into senior football you'd imagine.
Taking Beales place and doing it the same route by looks of it. The youth set up is a longterm role that managers that are becoming more and more fleeting don't have much say in. You can't really be ripping it up and starting again when a manger and his whole team leave at youth level. GVB will have some say but not much his remit is the 1st team.

Dave Vos will be one of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s assistants at Rangers, writes The Telegraph Thursday. According to the newspaper, the 38-year-old coach of Ajax Under 18 told his players on Wednesday after the minimal victory over Besiktas (0-1) in the UEFA Youth League. He will sign a contract in Glasgow until the summer of 2024 or 2025.

What’s that article about?

“Which was then still called Glasgow Rangers”

Bit unclear exactly what his role is but this seems to be an excellent addition to the Rangers back room team. We need to optimise our academy and get the youth strategy delivering, this guy seems the perfect appointment to do just that.

Isnt it Murty’s recently vacated role he’d be taking though, rather than Assistant Manager?

I don't think he is assistant manager I think he is the talent coach Gio was talking about bringing in. I could be wrong, The story says assistant but doesn't mean assistant manager.
Correct. Being reported in the Netherlands as “one of the assistants to Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

“ een van de assistenten van Giovanni van Bronckhorst”

We’ve been saying for years Ajax is a club we should be basing our structure on. To get someone with that level of experience could be a game changer

Massive coup for the club. The man has an impressive CV from AZ Alkmaar right through the Ajax set up (under 11’s - u18’s) He’s extremely friendly with Frank de Boer and Domenica Tedesco.

The Ajax under 18 side are a cracking side; Vos, Misehouy, Axel Dongen, Dall. He managed them up until the other night.

Vos has been involved in the development of Gorter, Timber, Schrrs, Rensch, the excellent Gravenberch, Kenneth Taylor who are all in the first team squad.

Yeah he’s not Assistant Manager, he’s the Assistant *to* the Manager.

Why would he be murty replacement ? In what world do you leave ajax youth one of the best in the world to join rangers youth not even the best in Scotland? Very good appointment for assistant manager imo

Good appointment, my only concern is us building a full team around Gio who would possibly leave with him as we have just seen with SG. We need to start a lasting legacy with natural successors in positions.
The reality is if Gio and his team are successful then they will all move on to an EPL club similar to SG & Co. The upside to that though is it makes us an appealing club to come to for any future quality upcoming management teams.

Identical to our player trading model and something we probably need to come to terms with unfortunately.

Here's the article, with the comment from Ross Wilson.

Almost looks like a made up role given the positions around the academy.

I suspect this chap will be working with the first team

Perhaps this is what the trip to Amsterdam was about? Maybe he came back on the flight to have a look around, hence the secrecy at Glasgow Airport.
