Rangers History Classic Rangers picture thread

Big Davie in goal, must have a fives competition.
The Big Man also played in goal against Celtic in a Glasgow Cup game played at the end of 64-65 season, where Provan actually replaced Norrie Martin in Goal.
Rangers were unfortunately reduced to 9 men through injury when Rodger Hynd (ankle) was taken off and immediately went to hospital, and George McLean (gashed shin) did not reappear for the second half (this was typical of the sort of tactics that the recently appointed new Celtic manager Jock Stein would employ to gain an advantage).
This was in the days before substitutes when the injured could not be replaced.
Goalkeeper Martin also suffered a broken finger, that forced him to swap shirts with Davie Provan going in goals, and Martin having to play up front as an auxiliary striker for the remainder of the game.

Thanks for that.
I can’t remember that game.

Rangers players do a lap of honour while an overexcited bear is escorted out by the constabulary.
This looks like an expanded version of the classic photo.

I've always previously interpreted it as Bobby Shearer heading from the tunnel area towards the Rangers End.

I was only 5 then, but those who were there, going by the photo, it looks like the direction of travel from the trophy presentation was eastwards towards the Celtc End (packed with Bears of course) and then around the pitch towards the North Enclosure and then the Rangers End.

Is that George McLean dodging round the fan getting huckled by the City of Glasgow's Police finest?

Talking of the fan, since this is the King's Park end, is it possible, contrary to my previous belief, he may in fact be a Dundee supporter, which would actually make more sense?

Anyway, a Glorious Day in our history.

Yes the direction of the lap of honour was right at the tunnel then around towards the Celtic end as you have rightly said and all the way round.

I was in the North Enclosure that day and it was indeed a Rangers fan who was escorted out.

Quite a few had ran onto the trackside to greet the players though most were kids.

I'm not sure who the player is tbh.

George McLean.

Anyone recognise whose sports this is?
I went to Ibrox and shawfield sports days.
If the games were level, team with most corners won.
Also remember the Glasgow transport sports at Helenvale park, Parkhead.
I cant place where that was taking place. I also attended the Ibrox and Shawfield sports days but not the Glasgow Transport sports.

It’s probably not, but it looks like the old Petershill Park.
