This may be tournament where Paddy Crerand played for Celtic and got sent off. He later complained about Falkirk being the most Protestant place in Scotland.Anyone recognise whose sports this is?
I went to Ibrox and shawfield sports days.
If the games were level, team with most corners won.
Also remember the Glasgow transport sports at Helenvale park, Parkhead.
After 1964 SCF.
That tournament involving the Tims was in the summer of '61, my Dad had died aged 37 shortly before that. Tommy Lowry of Falkirk and Crerand and Jackson of Celtic were all sent off in the fives game. Tommy was an Orangeman from a well known footballing family in East Belfast, he was married to my mates sister and they had a newspaper cutting of Tommy having either Crerand or Jackson by the front of their shirts in a brawl. Crerand was the first to go after a scuffle with Tommy Lowry and Jackson and Tommy were sent off together after another brawl. I was told remarks were made about Lowry's religious background which the big man took exception to.This may be tournament where Paddy Crerand played for Celtic and got sent off. Thick Dung lies and talks shite. Really does.According to Chic Dung (and yes I know) the Rangers end that 64 Cup final sang '
Oh Campbell Forsyth
We wish you were Ritchie
That was their retort to Billie Ritchie not being picked for Scotland against England.
I didn't know about the Tommy Lowry angle. That tournament involving the Tims was in the summer of '61, my Dad had died aged 37 shortly before that. People did sing that not on the terraces but in pubs, houses and supporters busesThick Dung lies and talks shite. Really does.
Had the misfortune a few years ago to be sat at the next table to Crerand,McNeil,Jackson and some other bloke in a well known Italian restaurant in town.I didn't know about the Tommy Lowry angle.
My old man told me way back about Crerand and Jackson though.
Jackson was a non entity. He was manager of QotS in 1976 when we played them in the SC and he was all mooth about upsets. The result? Five - Nil Rangers.
Rangers v Hibs? the only player that i got right away was Eddie Turnbull well i think it is him
Definitely Turnbull.Rangers v Hibs? the only player that i got right away was Eddie Turnbull well i think it is him
Looks like Ralph Brand at 10, possibly Max Murray at 9, Willie Telfer at 6 and Eric Caldow near the referee. I thought “Eddie Turnbull” looked like Alex Scott so possibly his brother Jim.Rangers v Hibs? the only player that i got right away was Eddie Turnbull well i think it is him
Making sense to me nowLooks like Ralph Brand at 10, possibly Max Murray at 9, Willie Telfer at 6 and Eric Caldow near the referee. I thought “Eddie Turnbull” looked like Alex Scott so possibly his brother Jim.
Just because Rangers fans in the Rangers end wearing Rangers scarves didn't sing it, doesn't mean they didn't sing it.People did sing that not on the terraces but in pubs, houses and supporters buses
Is this the 1958 SC semi final?Rangers v Hibs? the only player that i got right away was Eddie Turnbull well i think it is him
Lawrie Leslie the Hibs keeper??Making sense to me now
Looks more like him than YoungerLawrie Leslie the Hibs keeper??
I am not sure that is Ian McColl @ItsInTheNet but I may be wrong.
I think its him @The Meik's Crombie. If not then I wonder who on earth it could be?I am not sure that is Ian McColl @ItsInTheNet but I may be wrong.
I'm really old and don't remember thatPeople did sing that not on the terraces but in pubs, houses and supporters buses
I think it's Willie Rae rather than McColl.
Your correct mate.I think it's Willie Rae rather than McColl.
Well done MBW. Will amend postI think it's Willie Rae rather than McColl.
Forrest, McLean or Willoughby instead of big Roger Hynd and we would have won the cup.
Had the misfortune a few years ago to be sat at the next table to Crerand,McNeil,Jackson and some other bloke in a well known Italian restaurant in town.
Crerand was an obnoxious bastard to the staff.
Crerand’s behaviour - no surprise.Had the misfortune a few years ago to be sat at the next table to Crerand,McNeil,Jackson and some other bloke in a well known Italian restaurant in town.
Crerand was an obnoxious bastard to the staff.
Waddell’s first day (December 1969)?
I vaguely remember hearing/reading about that chant,According to Chic Dung (and yes I know) the Rangers end that 64 Cup final sang '
Oh Campbell Forsyth
We wish you were Ritchie
That was their retort to Billie Ritchie not being picked for Scotland against England.
Gerhard Neef with Baxter?
It's definitely Turnbull. The Rangers No. 6 might be Sammy Baird rather than Willie Telfer?Looks like Ralph Brand at 10, possibly Max Murray at 9, Willie Telfer at 6 and Eric Caldow near the referee. I thought “Eddie Turnbull” looked like Alex Scott so possibly his brother Jim.
If it was the 1958 semi final games Sammy Baird was number 6 at both gamesIt's definitely Turnbull. The Rangers No. 6 might be Sammy Baird rather than Willie Telfer?
I pop on this thread when I see it near the top of the board
Looks like Bomber Jackson, Greig, Alex Miller, Brian Heron, Waddell, Bobby Watson, Andy Penman, Willie Thornton, Gerry Neef, Ronnie McKinnon.Waddell’s first day (December 1969)?

What was the occasion?
Forrest would have been enough.Forrest, McLean or Willoughby instead of big Roger Hynd and we would have won the cup.
