Happy with this. Wonder if he’s been involved in any of this seasons new additions
To be honest, that’s the first thing I’d expect from a high profile appointment such as this.See my edited post mate. Could be a re-structure rather than replacing Andy directly.
Btw - that 12ft app is genius!John Park: My Moneyball approach at Celtic, adding data to scouting, and discovering Van Dijk
John Park left a lasting legacy at Celtic after 14 years of transfers. How does he reflect on it, now his last signings have moved on?theathletic.com
Call me old school but I struggle to see anyone who plays/works for them in any capacity as a 'bluenose'He’s a Bluenose who’s been desperate to join us
Is there not a coach with the same name?Sunderland and Blackburn after the Dhims. Hamilton Accies and Motherwell before the Dhims.
I had it in my head he'd been with Hibs as well but no mention of it in the article.
How far back was that ?I thought he started off at Hibs in some capacity. just read he was head of Youth development at Hibs.
Well now oneCan’t sign any fecker without a head scout
Been under a long cold shower. What's he done since he left them?
I hadn’t heard that one before. This marquee-signing policy marked a divergence from the mostly low-cost transfer approach of the majority of Park’s tenure. So does he ever wish he had a similar budget for a single player?
“Never,” he says, “never in my life. I find it strange that people spend that amount of money on some players when you can find 100 players just as good, if not better, for a portion of that money. Have Celtic spent money and done well? I don’t know. You look at Edouard: £9 million. But then you include his wages for a couple of million, and then the sell-on (PSG had a 40 per cent cut on the profit from his £14 million sale to Crystal Palace of the Premier League in August), is that value for money?
“There are some excellent young players out there that you can find through the right tools and processes, which the right scouting team can deliver. I’m totally convinced of that.
“That’s the part of it I love.”
Doesn't do any harm either.Park was a Rangers fan when he was younger (not that it really matters)
Just checking.Don't think Park was in charge of marketing, so probably not.
Wanyama was offered to Rangers as well as Celtic, they took the plunge first.
We tried to get him years back but he rejected us. Not sure what he's been up to since.
Kenny McDowellCall me old school but I struggle to see anyone who plays/works for them in any capacity as a 'bluenose'
Confuscius say, yes it was.Just checking.
It was a confuciusing signing.
Have heard only great things about him. Seems like a real coup. This could potentially be a tremendous appointment.
case in point.Kenny McDowell
He was picked by Walter that was good enough for me.case in point.
Whit? Who?Great news. They always make the better signings and this could turn the tables
If he gets his successful deals right, then that's what he will be judged on. There is not one scout in the world that has a 100% track record. Even Benfica and Porto's have some howlers but we only remember their amazing finds/profits they were sold for.If we are giving him praise for Van Dijk etc then it’s worth mentioning his less than successful deals.

The scum have better recruitment, it's just a fact. Look at last seasonWhit? Who?
Whit? Who?
They recruited better than us last season. What about the season before? The season before that? We have caught up with them to the extent that we have imo a much better squad than them. The scum have better recruitment, it's just a fact. Look at last season
Read it back to myself and thought the same...Found the Owl's login anyway.
The scum have better recruitment, it's just a fact. Look at last season
Love him, love him. Hate him, hate him.Is nobody raging at this? Surprising
Whoever wins the league is the best team it takes far more consistency. They recruited better than us last season. What about the season before? The season before that? We have caught up with them to the extent that we have imo a much better squad than them.
Brett Brereton Diaz bought for £7m and will go for £25m+What's he done since he left them?
He was at Hibs when Thomson, Rioirdan Brown, etc broke throughSunderland and Blackburn after the Dhims. Hamilton Accies and Motherwell before the Dhims.
I had it in my head he'd been with Hibs as well but no mention of it in the article. EDIT: Seems I haven't lost my marbles and he was, indeed, with Hibs for 7 years, I think in charge of their Academy.
