It's quite clearly to warm up the muscles that will be needed for rolling the ball twenty feet away from where the free kick is given to where you want to take it

We've had Barker, Jones, Wright and Sakala at least in the time since McKay left and I think he'd have contributed as much of them. WIndass and McKay were nowhere near good enough to be our main players but they would've been excellent backups/squad options and we've tried about 10 options since.
