Sky reporting that Neil Banfield, Damien Matthew and Harry Watling are expected to join as coaches.

We genuinely do have fans who literally watch nothing of the game outwith Rangers or the Scottish game.

Dunno how they do it

I don't mind that, but at least take a minute or two to do a bit of research before dismissing someone with his background simply cos you don't know him FFS... Mental.

Not true as much is about man management they understand some players need lines not to cross some need nurturing they know when to be the good or bad guy.

Thing is being hard on someone doesn't actually work it creates resentment and how managers lose teams in all jobs not just football

Have a structure for behaviour for breached rules at out and then disciplined yes definately make it to lax the players will walk over you make it to strict they will do bare minimum.

Feguson talks about it a lot around how he distances himself to an extent from players and let his coaches take training swapping then every so often.

Meaning what input he has becomes more effective
Totally agree. Generally, I find that the desire for a shouty disciplinarian is posted by people who have never been in any sort of management role in their puff.

If someone is constantly hard on their staff, then it doesn't mean anything when they get angry.

It's easy to set reasonable boundaries with people and for them to know that crossing them is unacceptable, without being a disciplinarian or a shouter, and it's got fuçk all to do with iPads or being woke .

That's what a disciplinarian is. Think your confusing temper and discipline.

Right now the squad sets the boundaries and punishment and it is not working. Complete lack of management.

I would say what I've described is authoritative management, rather than the focus being on the punishment.

Under Gerrard, the squad set the boundaries too, but he was authoritative too - neither a disciplinarian, nor passive.

Walter was similar.

From a few months ago:

Thanks Mate - a good read in those articles and gets me a wee bit excited that we are getting youth and experience in our coaching team - they all come accross as winners

A disciplinarian for me sets the law and ensures it is maintained in a fair and balanced way.

I am aware it was implemented under Gerrard that is what concerns me. It failed and continues to. Hopefully the manager has learned that and doesn't follow suit. This squad has no fear. Fear is a part of all successful management from businessmen like musk to the best football managers in pep and ferguson.

Our own Walter Smith was a strict disciplinarian along with knox.

We need it back in my opinion. It is the only question around the new manager, he certainly has the passion and a fantastic footballing brain, his communication skills look superb too so if he can control and manage the squad and various personalities within he will be the full package.

Smith was a great man manager but we only hear part of it

He was a people person he spoke to players he made them feel at ease and he set standards.

Could he be hard absoloutly but that only was a last measure would get players running through a brick wall not because of fear but because of who he was and how he treated the players.

Fear doesn't work having authoritative presence does there a difference.

100%. fear factor can be the fear to disappoint or the fear to let down or the fear to anger. Many different connotations but in the end its still fear. The great leaders fully understand and use fear in its many forms. Different personalities respond to different forms and the ability to identify when and how to use is paramount

Pretty pleasing this. GVB had a very young coaching staff, highly rated but with little experience. Think having an older head with more than 20 years at Arsenal will be a big help.

I would still like us to have a Scottish coach, someone who knows the league inside out.
Why do you think a Scottish coach is necessary when Beale knows all there is to know from very recent hands on experience of working here and winning the league here?

He looks old fashioned in some peoples eyes because of his age and belly etc. not a problem to me as an older bear myself , but can understand why some look at him and think typical cockney who would boast about eating a “ kilo o prawns” and six pints etc.

I’ve zero issue with these guys coming in but I wanted a Culshaw and a Thomson to add much needed grit to the place. It’s badly needed.

That's a full twelve hours I've had "kilo o prawns" stuck in my head now

Everyone is different in how they respond to it

But if someone tries to make me fear something I get pretty militant about it

personally a manager who supports me helps and backs me up them And has a clear vision I do everything I can for them, they try put fear into me I do the bare min until he is under pressure, covering my own back until either he goes or i get bored and move to next role.

Creating letting someone down is a get out is the same but if you build a positive mindset that can be done together you have a stronger team

It just doesn't work for long term results short term yes you will get a bounce in some cases but generally not effective for team building shared goals etc the person becomes disruptive to others even if not meaning to be through affinity talking about it, becomes a toxic environment.

Managing people is about the relationship you have with that person you don't even need like each other but you do need have trust that you both can do what is required and help one another.

That's what Smith/af/pep all good managers have is the ability and presence to get key people to follow the goal they have and get them to lead it while overseeing it.

Take Alfie the hibs game the way club dealt with that from club/gio/tav was wrong they threw him under the bus......... in same game lawerence had shocker on him that was lucky didn't get his ankle broken, there was similar fouls to Alfie from hibs on matondo, and that's before the red for lundstrum.

Alfie was stupid especially as down to 10 men but we threw him under bus and it prob went through the team we should have came out straight away highlighted the other tackles slaughtered collum yet again.

If we had appealed it would prob have lost but he would have felt he was backed and maybe doesn't down tools.

Instead club accepted basically being cheated out of 2 points with lundstrum card, lawerence scored after that tackle but had to be taken off

From club/ manager/ captain that was poor and was the start of pressure building on the players and gio

I've been waiting a long time to see someone raise this issue. We have been too long without a serious pointer either on the pitch or on the sidelines. Think McCulloch was the last with any sort of professional pointing game. He also used to to that misdirection point where he pointed where he wanted the pass receiver to run and then he just hit it straight out of play. Pure class. I miss Jig.

People forget though just how good a pointer Wallace was. He could throw four or five in quick succession as his face got more and more purple but every single one hit its mark. It is a little known fact that Apple only brought the iPad to market as a backstop for less professional pointers to stop them just wildly firing points into the crowd. Wallace never would have needed that. He had the control.
Nailed it, well done. Excellent point

Beale knows the league but I always feel a Scottish coach who knows other players/ managers as well as knowing those that work in media can help.

Let’s face it, the Scottish media are already frothing at the mouth of the idea of guys coming up from London to manage in Scotland

Worse than that, he was apparently scouting during the Warburton era. He has alot to answer for if he recommended any of the signings other than Tav and Waghorn.
Most of Warburtons signings were successful for where we were at the time.
That's why we romped the league and deservedly beat celtic in the cup.

So just like Gio our new manager seems to be creating jobs for pals.
I wonder how this will end. Quite underwhelmed at the moment but need to give him a chance

Or he gets guys in that he trusts and will work well for him.

Football managers all over the world will bring people in that they trust. Look at the amount of manager & assistant managers that work together in multiple clubs.

You might see Beale works with them for the rest of his career.

Hopefully that will be the case. Gios pals were rotten. They did nothing.

You need to have a good team and should be able to pick anyone you want in it as Rangers manager.

I get your frustrations we have went from one disaster to another but MB is the manager now so we need to give him whatever he needs with in reason.

So Damian Matthew once worked for Separate Entity FC?

Oh dear.

Point taken, but Beale must rate him.
True. But I’m scarred thinking back, the amount of posters that told themselves “aye but Gerrard one of the best midfielders ever rates… he’ll know more than follow follow” or “I think gio knows all about developing talent, Dave vos, Ajax etc”

I think I see what you’re getting at but it almost sounds like a semi PR role…and maybe there’s a place for a role like you describe, though not sure if Beale just has to grow to fill that space himself. If they did bring in a Scot for those reasons, they’d obviously have to have a coaching input as well…how about McCann as specialist crossing/inswinging corners coach?

Maybe Beale just thinks that the guys he’s brought in are better than any of the Scottish based names that were put forward?
