Barisic Story - The Upshot

I subscribe to The Upshot and got this beauty in my mailbox today... Maybe a hint that Ridvan won't be first choice for quite a while :D

Gareth Southgate might be feeling the pressure to pick Phil Foden, but the most he has to fear is some media grumbling and a clip round the ear from Phil's combative mum, Claire.

Spare a thought for Croatia gaffer Zlatko Dalić, whose selection headaches come with the added threat of being horribly murdered.

Among his squad is Rangers left-back Borna Barisic, son of terrifying gangster Stipe Barisic, aka "the Moth", a member of the Cepin mafia clan.

Back in 2017, Ukranian giants Dynamo Kyiv agreed to sign Barisic, but backed out at the last minute, choosing to buy Dinamo Zagreb left-back Josip Pivaric instead.

A seething Barisic publicly accused Dinamo Zagreb of sabotaging the transfer, and 10 days later, some masked men pulled up outside the home of Dinamo executive Zdravko Mamić and shot him, but fortunately failed to kill him.

Incidentally, Josip Pivaric was not called up to the Croatia squad for the World Cup, which seems like a wise decision...

Nope, he's not making stuff up.

It may not be true but it is featured in this week's edition of The Upshot.

Is it not common knowledge that Borna’s father is a wrong un ??
We were sitting next to the whole family (6+) in the Hotel Bar (pun intended) in Berne… seemed ok to me. I spoke to Borna as well, and he was as nice as pie .

Mate, I read the post.

If that were the reason Yilmaz wasn't playing, how did Bassey get a game?

"THE MOLE AFFAIR"

Just a few days after all the defendants in the case of the burning of the former chief state attorney's cottage settled with USKOK before the county court in Osijek, this morning at the county court in Zagreb, rather unexpectedly, the defendants in the so-called The Talpa (mole) affair, better known as buying information from the most secret PNUSKOK investigations.

Vlado Rajić , the godfather of the murdered Vinko Žuljević Klica , Stipe Barišić Moljac from Čepin, construction entrepreneur Damir Ivić , co-owner of PGM Ragusa, which participated in the construction of the Pelješko bridge, Željko Biloš , the owner of Osijek television, and well- known MOL oil consultant Josip Petrović settled. after the "consultant" affair.

Rajić, who was accused of being the organizer of a criminal group that obtained information from secret investigations of PNUSKOK, based on a settlement, was sentenced to a partially suspended prison sentence of 18 months in prison, with the proviso that he must spend 8 months in prison, while the remaining 10 months on the condition that he must not commit a new criminal offense within 5 years.

Since he has already spent 2 months in pre-trial detention, Rajić will have to spend another half a year behind bars. Rajić was also fined HRK 400,000 and must pay HRK 40,000 in court costs. Barišić, Ivić, Biloš and Petrović were sentenced to suspended prison sentences - Barišić and Ivić to 10 months in prison with a three-year probationary period, and Biloš and Petrović to 8 months in prison with a three-year probationary period.

Also, at today's hearing, it was heard that at least four other defendants are preparing a settlement with USKOK.

Settlements in this case, where the indictment was filed back in 2015, come rather unexpectedly, since in the course of the trial so far, the defense has been fighting a trench battle to start the trial as late as possible, and there have been a series of delays.

At the Ibrox open day. Borna did not want to be around the fans. His face was like Thunder. A right moody bastard. That’s my input

Borna Barisic is the best left back the club has ever had or will have.

Does anyone have that picture of Borna, his dad, Katic and Katic's brother at Ibrox looking like proper shady Eastern European gangsters?
