Scotland fans hit out at the booing of Ryan Jack

Since the 1990s, the Tartan army have dished out abuse to ,Mo Johnston (after he retired from the SFA team and then changed his mind) McCoist ( from memory, when he was actually on a stretcher in Portugal ) Ian Ferguson, Barry Ferguson, Allan McGregor,Ian Black, Lee Wallace and Ryan Jack.
Possibly others, I have forgotten.
Can anyone see a pattern here?
Not to mention incidents when non Scottish Rangers players have been verbally abused, for example Scotland v Denmark, Laudrup (Rangers) constantly booed Weighorst (sellik) no abuse.
I am not saying all the Tartan army abuse certain players, but there is obviously a percentage who do.

One of Scotland’s best players disgraceful behaviour booing one of their own one of the reasons I could never support or go to a Scotland game again and I really cannot fathom why a Ranger’s supporter would give them their support.

I used to go to most Scotland home games as a kid but, like many Bears, my interest in the national team declined during the 1990s. The final straw for me was being at THAT game at Parkhead watching Scotland play the Czech Republic. The abuse dished out to McAllister was a disgrace and we all know it was because he was perceived as having been “in England too long” and for being linked with us for so long that he was considered a “Rangers man”.

I don’t blame Jack for wanting to play for his country, we all did as wee boys, and the opportunity to play against some great players is good for him. But this nonsense must take the shine off of it for him.

I think you mean this game

The paper is wrong look at their jerseys CCCP meant USSR

It's down to the club that he plays for whose vast majority of supporters ( myself included ) are Pro Union.
The vast amount of the Tartan Army supporters are Nastzis , along with a manager who openly shared his dislike of our club and support. ". Bye Bye Rangers ". They refuse to accept what we stand for , and it's like everything else in this country the tail wags the dog ( if you let them )
Bye Bye Rangers AND Celtic that what Steve Clarke said on the park at Rugby Park his last game against Rangers and he was talking about 1 stand instead of 2 stands watch vid at 4.00 on

Nothing like generalising two supports who come from all walks of life. it's been mentioned many times before that Rangers are the best supported side out of the Scotland supporters club. I don't agree with a lot of what other Rangers fans stand for or believe in but it wouldn't stop me from sitting next to them.

It's noticeable you don't comment on the rest of my post , which is really the main problem.

It didn't happen.

Okay, if you say so, The London Times was wrong.
I'll take your word for it.
I have always thought of them as the Russians, even the year before when they got to the Semi Finals of the World Cup, as the Soviet Union, or CCCP, or USSR.

I read a few reports of it after the game on Saturday, from fans of various clubs.
Whereabouts did you read it? There's guys on here were at the game and never heard any booing. I watched it and never heard it, I had mates at the game and they never heard it.

Was on twitter I saw it, as I said some from non-Rangers fans who were in fairness pissed off about it. Don't see what they would get out of making it up. Maybe it was only in isolated sections?

The backbone of the USSR national team were always Ukrainians I always called them the Soviet Union or The Soviets But of course i am talking pish again

It must have been very isolated. If it did happen it's obviously wrong, but I wouldn't let a few muppets spoil what was a decent victory.

I applaud the bears on here that stick with supporting Scotland and I'd never say anything against it as I'm Scottish and always want them to do well - however I've never felt as disconnected from the national team as I do now.

My allegiances are with Rangers and I want Rangers players to do well and go on to do well for Scotland but they/we are not welcome so I end up just showing apathy towards the national side.

The hatred of all things Rangers has polluted their brains. It's just not worth it and it's disappointing as when you seen all the support of countries at the WC I wish it could be like that here but the country is too divided.

Wouldn't mind going to the odd Scotland game, but this kind of stuff, and knowing the sheep shaggers and Hibs fans and Dundee Utd fans you're sharing a stand with, hate everything about you, just switches me off from them tbh. Shame.

If they/we are not welcome, why does Ryan Jack continue to be called up and start matches? why was patterson called up when playing for Rangers? Why will Souttar be called up and play if/when he gets clear of injury troubles?

A few pricks booed, most think its c*nt patter.

not really a story is it.
Not been to a Scotland game in a good few years but the last one I was at, one person tried to boo Naismith and then had to leave before he got slapped. An Aberdeen fan, I think, but so we’re some of those ‘encouraging him to stop’.

Not like Jock "I'd always sign a Protestant because I know the Catholics will always sign" Stein to talk shite

Stein was talking about a long time ago and I wouldn't like to argue that he never said anything accurate or that Rangers fans never did anything dubious (along with Celtic fans).

Another fan who was at the game exclaimed: "I've been to maybe 20 Scotland games and never heard anyone shouting abuse at a player because of the club they play for. It shocked me a bit."
O RLY? The stitching keeping their ears on must have unravelled all of a sudden.

And I hate their club. It works both ways.

I was at the game in the North Stand, mates were in the West Stand and not one of us heard a single boo. There were audible comments at HT about Jack playing well.

Completely agree. We all most likely work with, are pals with, have extended family or socialise with guys that support Celtic for example. Doesnt bother people 99.9% of the time so why it bothers people at a Scotland game is beyond me.

Stein was full of lines like this and the referees being against Celtic, and I think he was insulating himself from criticism to a degree.

I don’t think he could have contemplated that 60yrs later you would have Celtic complaining about referees in England denying them penalties in charity matches for retired players right enough.

I remember the Scottish league were playing at the piggery during the 60s.
Ronnie McKinnon was the only Rangers player selected.
The abuse he got that night was something else.

I was there, I heard a few grumbles when his name was read out before kick off, but didn’t hear any booing during the game.

Couldn’t give a %^*& what they say or do anyway, no one will ever stop me from supporting my country. My Dad brought me up to support Rangers and Scotland and I’ll always stick by that.

EDIT: Just saw Jack is on the cover for the programme tomorrow night against Spain B-)

I was in the rangers end when Scotland played England 1985 maybe?
Beat 2-0
Peter Grant came on for the last 15, he certainly got booed and abuse.
No wonder :))
Did anyone throw a golf ball with nails in it? Fu*king tramp liar. Imagine that getting a cap
At anything Deary me!

The level of hate for our club (hence Ryan Jack) at Scotland games is paradoxically hard to understand, but also exactly what we expect in Scotland.
Obsessive.
And sad.
I don’t watch Scotland games any more but ffs surely those so called fans can forget about hating everything Rangers for 90 min and enjoy life a wee bit?

Back when I gave a shit about the Scotland national team, I went to every game at Hampden. The last game I went to was the Norway game when McCoist scored to send Scotland to Italia 90.

I can say, hand on heart, that I never heard any Celtic players get booed. It's straight up bullshit.

Typical Tartan army ,I have no idea how any Rangers fan can stand with these dicks
You will stand with people that hate Rangers and our players in every bar and restaurant in Glasgow (Louden etc excluded). Doesnt stop any of us going out. Same in most workplaces etc.

Some folk dont like international football and thats totally fine. Others do and they just ignore the fact that, like in basically every social setting in the west of Scotland, there will be guys who hate Rangers.
