Possibly the worst example of cheating our game has ever seen on Saturday - Where’s the condemnation?

The entire period from the filths defeat to Hearts upto our defeat to Ross County was dominated by daily moonhowling about “cheating” refereeing decisions, 99% of which was completely unjustified.

Well on Saturday we seen the worst case of refereeing corruption that I think most of us have ever seen in Scottish football. In the last minute of extra time, a referee consciously gave a decision he knew wasn’t correct because he knew the alternative would potentially cost the team he supported a place in a cup final. The incident looks even worse the more you see it.

There is absolutely no reasonable justification for what Don Robertson done on Saturday. It’s not incompetence. It’s not a mistake. He simply knew he was going to have to award a penalty to Aberdeen in the dying stages for a blatant foul and instead opted to award a phantom foul against Aberdeen for a filth player throwing himself to the ground several seconds before that cheating Don didn’t even acknowledge in real time.

Where are all these bastions of sporting integrity and level playing fields now when it comes to refereeing decisions? If they really all cared about transparency and impartiality then they’d be all over this obvious example of corruption.

They had a get out card with Johnstone’s theatrics. If there’s the merest whiff of something, anything they can use in the Beggars’ favour, they appear absolutely dutybound to do so.

Funnily enough, that entire incident has been airbrushed out of the Premier Sports highlights on YouTube.

I'd suggest the ref McLean's shitebaggery at Pittodrie was cringeworthy in its abject cowardice to issue a second yellow to a Celtc player when they were already 0-1 down. It is still shocking and embarrassing after watching it countless times. It summed up Scottish football where refs and Celtc are concerned. There was no reason, none, for a second yellow not to be issued. McLean just shat it.

I’m not sure if you’re seriously asking or not, but we all know the answer is because the decision benefitted Celtic.

There’s only ever an outcry when it benefits us or goes against Celtic.

So what do people think went on. I can’t fathom it out. He clearly sees the incident with Johnstone, to be honest it could be a foul Holliet barges into him as he goes to head the ball (it may have gone over his head) anyways Robertson doesn’t blow for the foul. It clearly isn’t an advantage to Celtic to play on. He only blows when Carter Vickers commits the foul. It is not clear whether he is initially pointing at the penalty spot or the spot where Johnston is, however he points upfield indicating a foul to Celtic. It is as if when he turns to point to the penalty spot he notices Johnstone on the ground and the VAR is simultaneously saying checking for foul on Johnstone. He seems to talk funny so it’s hard to read his lips, so only thing I can see is him saying “that foul” and pointing to where Johnstone was, then a couple of “nos”. We had a witch hunt against the referee who the correct decision but was dishonest about how he came to that decision. It looks like VAR made this decision and Robertson was happy to go along with it.

Don Robertson is a cheating scumbag bastard

Doesn’t blow for a foul on Johnston until after CCV fouls the Sheep player for a penalty

Disgrace for this rhat bastard

As usual the compliant mhedia do and say fcuk all as the scum benefited from a corrupt decision

Robertson is a cuunt

Yeah I mean at that stage Aberdeen might have got them to penalties...

A couple of things in that.

Was the free kick given for the challenge in the air?

Why wasn’t the ref told to review it? Rather than just turning the decision over?

No he played on until Carter-Vickers made the tackle then pulled it back for the foul on Johnston. He wasn't told to review it because that would mean VAR re-refereeing that situation which they can't do if replay backs up what Robertson tells them he saw then that's it check over. The attacking phase will get checked first which includes the 'foul' on Johnston and that's it the penalty check doesn't go any further.

Yup - 7 seconds of him following the play, him moving with play - then that - not even questioned as 'odd' after the game in the media.

On review it is interesting that Johnston watches what happens with Vickers then rolls over and lies doggo holding his right shin but the foul was supposed to be the Aberdeen player barging him in his back.

I fuking hate agreeing with anything that favours the filth, but that's definitely a foul on Cod chops..

Why the hell Robertson's taken so long is rather strange though.

The free kick was given against Aberdeen for the earlier challenge. The delay in awarding it was somewhat surprising, as there seemed no have no advantage to Celtic in letting play carry on and allow Aberdeen to then have a shot at goal and then get to the rebound first before blowing the whistle.

Anyway, with a terrible feeling of foreboding dread upon him Robertson realised with relief that the sensible thing was to blow up and let VAR sort it all out.

So much for a pro active Dave Cormack, if Aberdeen don't make a noise about it the status quo will continue.
Same goes for all the other SPFL clubs when a perceived injustice favours Celtc against them.

It was 3-2 to Celtic at the time and 8 minutes of the game left, so the OP is full of nonsense.

It's also been covered numerous times that the VAR protocol followed was correct. He never awarded a penalty. He awarded a free kick, clearly. He let the attacking phase of play conclude and then they could review if his decision was correct.

Whether it was a foul or not is a different matter, but VAR use was fine.

Wasn't it the VAR officials who overturned the decision?

Asking for a friend.

No decision was overturned by VAR as Robertson never gave the penalty in real time he gave a free kick. VAR then had to back Robertson up because there wouldn't have been an angle to disprove what Robertson saw and that's what people need to get their head round (not aimed at you here) with that decision.

That all makes sense, and looking at it that way it was a good piece of refereeing.

Can see why the foul was awarded. However Robertson was staring at the incident and clearly played on until the Vickers foul. He then backtracked.
If he had given the penalty I think that VAR would have overturned it for the foul.

That's a phantom free kick with two players jumping for a cross that neither get their head on. It's regular contact football, nvm the other bs . Having also just seen the Japanese diver trip the Aberdeen defender for his goal that's a foul .

Cos he is a cheating sleekit bastard ,like the handball not given when he deliberately turns his back and spins when the player is shooting into an empty net.

Surely he cannot let the attacking phase of play continue if he believes there's been a foul by the attacking team?

He's blatantly not blown until the "oh %^*& I'm going to have to give a penalty" fear kicked in

As big blue bear said he let it run until the next stoppage and gave the foul. If VAR had said no there was nothing in that they would have then looked at the penalty. VAR agreed (rightly or wrongly) it was a foul on Johnstone.

There was ten minutes left.
Justice was done a few minutes later when the sheep scored.

It was a strange decision however.

The number of times Johnston is involved in 'incidents' that end up going in his favour is beyond a joke.
Throwing himself down to win fouls, handballs and avoiding second yellow cards.
He really has had some amount of lucky breaks.

At no point did Robertson award a penalty. Watch him when he blows the whistle he points then points in the opposite direction signalling a free kick to celtic at no point did VAR get involved

Probably cause its still the same attacking phase and the sheep player has a shot at goal. If the shot had went in or the penalty given originally then probably one that doesn't get highlighted by VAR one of them that could go either way.

Last 7-8 minutes. Not last minute. I don’t disagree with your post but you need to be watertight factually or they will just focus on that point and wave your point away.

Aberdeen got what they deserved, again, against a team who were so brazen to let their keeper take the piss by hitting and missing a penalty and still go through.

They are all far to busy drooling over what was ""the greatest most exciting display" ever seen at Hampden ( now I wasn't born in 1960 but I can remember reading about a European Cup Final at Hampden that Real Madrid won 7 - 3 ) but that pails into insignificance compared to the sportsmanship , integrity etc (no laughing at the back) that took place on Sat ..... ANY decent journos would surely be familiar with the 1960 game . Was there not a cup final shootout where it went full circle and finished 13-12 or something .. christ the Coventry Man U game was every bit as enthralling and also had a dubious late var go in favour of the FA ,s darling club....... As far as I am concerned the only people who would have been worked up into a frenzy about the weekends footy are plastic paddy's and of course Mr Rod the prod Stewart.

Just further goes to show the lack of understanding of refereeing, what is and isn’t possible with VAR, and what is and isn’t “good” refereeing

I think the foul is soft as anything… I think Johnston buys it far better than anyone in our team ever does… but you jump into someone like that and you always run the risk of giving away a free kick… I also absolutely will accept that Robertson doesn’t give it if he wasn’t on the verge of having to give a penalty…

But I also think that giving a penalty would probably have seen it over turned for the “foul”… soft or not

If Celtc lost, the media reporting would be very, very different.

Until Rangers turn the tables on the corrupt infiltrated organisation that runs our game & calls them out then nothing won't ever change.

We don't have the balls to do such a thing and also if we would get little or no support from other clubs in the league.
