The Real Establishment: The Celtic Triangle

Frank McAveety is Labour's former Sports Minister who championed the case for Sportscotland's HQ to be relocated from Edinburgh to the Parkhead site of a new National Arena, despite 90% of Sportscotland's employees expressing their desire to stay in Edinburgh,

Ron Culley is a former Labour Party candidate for Strathkelvin and Bearsden. He is also the former Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise and former colleague of Stephen Purcell of GCC, who is on the board of Scottish Enterprise,

Jack McConnell is a personal friend Former Chairman of Scottish Enterprise is Willie Haughey. Haughey is Scotland 's biggest single donor to Labour Party funds. He received £16 million of tax-payers money, approved by Jack McConnell, to relocate his business to facilitate the M74 extension......to Parkhead.

The following are season ticket holders at Celtic Park , Haughey, Purcell and McAveety. McConnell is a regular guest. Culley visited Beijing to study transport systems to "help Glasgow 's bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games". Culley, Haughey and McAveety were at the forefront of the campaign for the M74 extension which improved Road links to Parkhead. 3 days after McConnell and McAveety announced the relocation of Sport Scotland to land adjacent to Celtic Park,

Culley as Chief Executive of Strathclyde Passenger Transport) quietly issued a low-key statement declaring the intention to build a new £20 million train link to Parkhead jointly funded by SPT, GCC and The Scottish Executive. More recently Culley announced plans for a Glasgow Underground extension to Parkhead.

Key historic buildings at Parkhead Cross are to be refurbished as part of a drive to breathe new life into the east end of the city. The Heritage Lottery Fund has given £1.4 million – one of the largest single donations it has ever awarded – to specifically restore the 100 year old Edwardian style buildings that frame the Cross. Three former bank buildings, will be renovated to bring empty floor space back into viable use and improve the overall streetscape.

The Parkhead Townscape Heritage Initiative is a £4 million five year plan, with the aim of repairing and bringing back to use landmark buildings, vacant shop units and enhancement to the public realm . The partners in the initiative include Glasgow City Council, East End Partnership, East End SIP, Communities Scotland Celtic Football Club and Scottish Enterprise Glasgow . £50 first prize to the first caller to name me a link between Glasgow City Council, Celtic Football Club and Scottish Enterprise Glasgow.

In the mid 90s after Celtic FC had submitted plans for the re-building of their stadium. Glasgow District Council sold the club significant tracts of land namely Kinloch Street , Janefield Street and Dalriada Street for the princely sum of 1p. The Planning Committee consisted thirteen members, eleven Labour, one SNP, and one Tory. The SNP member was so disgusted with the dealings of his own committee that he informed the Herald that "of them eleven Labour councillors on the committee, they are all either season ticket holders or share holders at Celtic Park. Eight of them are both". He further noted that,"if these eleven councillors were shareholders in ICI and they voted for lax planning consent on a petro-chemical plant , there would be a criminal investigation". (This scandal was also reported in Private Eye's "Rotten Borough's" column).

Okay, we have established Glasgow District Council sold three streets( Dalriada Street ,Janefield Street ,and Kinloch Street ) to their beloved
Sellik for a penny. Next, the combined efforts of the Board of Scottish Enterprise(Glasgow) ie Paul Cooney, Wullie HeeHaw, Charlie Gordon, Stephen Purcell, ....etc and the then First Minister and Sellik season ticket and share holder, Jack McConnell ensured the Commonwealth Games would be centred on Sellik Park . It was first announced by McConnell to Snyde's Paul Cooney on the evening of the home leg of the UEFA Cup tie against Liverpool. Subsequently, it came out that the Velodrome would be constructed across the London Road and the various Administrative blocks would house Sports Scotland (currently located in Edinburgh ).

Those Admin' blocks have to be filled and the next vetted and fully on message tennants are Culture and Sport Glasgow . The Chief Executive of this public funded body is Bridget McConnell, wife of Jack. Of course, Bridget only received her in excess of £100,000 per annum designation because of a piece of horse trading by philanderer, Jack. He could not keep it zipped, got caught, ended up on the front page of the Record, and Bridget only agreed to respectibility if Jack ensured she was over promoted several grades. In football parlance, Bridget was a youth team stalwart who immediately assumed Captaincy of the first team.

Really, it all makes sense to centralise all the decision making process. All those MPs, MSPs, MEPs, Councillors, and Chief Executive of Public Funded bodies can watch their hooped heroes then walk across London Road to decide whats best for the peoples of Glasgow, Truly, the establishment Club.

I wonder if Bridget's and Jack's brother-in-law, Robert McLuckie will be first on the guest list? Pehaps I should try and explain myself further for those questioning why certain contributors raise the possibility that this proposed "Eat End Redevelopment" and "Celtic Triangle" may be of considerable benefit to Celtic FC - and indeed, that this is a primary factor in the plans we've seen released this week. Until very recently, Glasgow had not had a non-RC Lord Provost since the early 70s. A completely disproportionate number of staff at Glasgow City Council – including those at top end of the salary scale such as Bridget McConnell – are RCs. Nearly all Labour councillors are RCs and few councillors are members of any other party. Roman Catholic ex-Lord Provost Dr. Michael Kelly questioned the reasons behind this phenomenon a few years ago live on radio, the inference being the situation had arisen out of bigotry. Credit to him for being so open and honest.

A recent Lord Provost, Alex Mosson, was an IRA sympathizer who was responsible for inviting Gerry Adams to Govan Town Hall , while the Provisionals terror campaign was in full swing. Mosson had a novel interpretation of wealth redistribution; he had several criminal convictions for burglary, two of which lead to custodial sentences, including one case which involved tying up an OAP.

Mosson's wife was certainly not prepared to let taxpayers' money go to waste during her husband's stint as Provost, insisting on an increase in her dress allowance from £8,000 to £14,000 p.a. When questioned, she justified this by famously claiming "the people of Glasgow wouldn't want to see me wearing the same outfit twice".Mr. Mosson was the inaugural Chairman of The Celtic Trust and perhaps unsurprisingly, made sure that the official limousine was at hand for his regular trips to Celtic Park, a policy that was also questioned by political opponents. Strangely, he never took the opportunity of visiting Ibrox.

Perhaps it is not surprising, therefore, that some query the motives behind those at the forefront of the Commonwealth Games bid – such as Jack McConnell, Ron Culley, Steven Purcell and Frank McAveety – who are all regulars at Celtic Park .There are huge question marks over the £288m budget (80% to be paid by the Executive), given that the cost of the `indoor arena' alone has recently escalated from an original £24m to £70m. McConnell's handing of the M74 extension affair, in which he met City Refrigeration Holding boss (and ex-Celtic director) Willie Haughey before an initial £7.4m compensation award was increased to £16.5m – with Haughey subsequently donating £330,000 to the Labour Party – hardly dampens suspicion.

In contrast to the largesse being bestowed on the East End of Glasgow , SPT instructed Rangers that the club would have to fork out £500k if the old Ibrox station on the Central-Paisley line was ever to be re-opened.

A lot is spoken about `sectarianism' in Scotland I contend that there is far, far more to this problem than songs sung at football matches and that it is time the Scottish people wakened up.

When is one of our elected representatives going to ask some searching questions regarding the various deals surrounding East End regeneration, the Commonwealth Games bid, the M74 extension and the proposed rail/subway extensions? They may also care to question why the bulk of the "regeneration" seems to centre around a one mile radius of Celtic Park.

I am 60 years old, stayed in Springburn until I was in my 30's then moved to north Lanarkshire. I am now under the coatbridge and chryston ward.

Every single MP that has represented me for 42 years has been 'Celtic minded'

Even though it is not than many, every councillor that I have ever known has been 'Celtic minded'

I cannot wait untill the house of cards falls. Heads will roll one day for the corruption and collusion that has seen that club benefit through various regeneration projects that has suited them to a tee.

Most of the stuff in this article is from 10 or more years ago.

The writing was on the wall for our support in three respects:

1. David Murray
2. the sectarianism industry's efforts to marginalise Rangers
3. the use of political influence to benefit Celtic and disadvantage Rangers

We really needed the bulk of our supporters to wise up but apart from a few 'internet bams' we sleepwalked into a disaster.

The big difference between us and the scum upport is that they are organised.we are not .we talk a lot but we actually do nothing.

There is a cover up on behalf of Stephen Purcell. He was investigated by police with a report submitted to the procurator fiscal, and, no surprise, they decided there wasn't enough evidence to proceed. Likely one of those deals where accused disappears from public life, and no criminal action is taken against them. Just like the deal Cardinal Keith O'Brien got. Alex Salmond stuck up for both of these guys as I remember.
I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere Willie Haughey owns the piggery. That arrangement is likely in place for no good reasons too.

They may also care to question why the bulk of the "regeneration" seems to centre around a one mile radius of Celtic Park.

Parkheed X is a dump and not had the new paving it was promised back then, still empty shops falling into disrepair...Parkheed has not changed one bit, but the Chamber of Secrets is done up like mutton dressed as lamb.

Care to explain which parts are inaccurate.

Well, there's no £20m rail link to parkhead, No subway extension, no 'admin blocks to fill' just to name a few

I hate every post on here that talks about our 'sleepwalking' support and how every one in high power is some member of Opus Dei.

If you really think that's true, don't just type another long winded post. Do something about it, dust off your cv and put in some of that good old Presbyterian work ethic.

Maybe you'll be able to get that Ibrox train station to happen or get some money pumped into the surrounding area. No one else is going to do it for you

A listed school building was allowed to fall into dereliction then ultimately demolished to provide a car park next to the midden. Their ground was extended overhanging a Jewish burial ground despite protests from descendants of those buried there, their protests fell on deaf ears of course. People were forced to vacate their perfectly suitable housing in order to raze their homes to the ground and sell the land for a penny to bheast fc. These protests from residents at the time were also ignored.
Meanwhile, the people of the district of Parkhead are routinely ignored as a matter of course.

Great article, absolutely outstanding mate!
We would bring the whole lot down if we do one simple thing get out into your streets and put yourself forward as a council member. The more of us that do just that and then vote the said member in.....it would take no more than 5-10 years to bring the whole corrupt lot to their knees.

https://books.google.co.uk/books/ab...p_read_button&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false

Is the Ron Culley mentioned here the same guy who is now CEO of the Western Isles Integrated Joint Board or is it the guy who wrote the foreword for Sir Alex Ferguson's book?

If they sold land to the unwashed to their betterment when building their stadium,How on earth is that not classed as state aid,That land would have belonged to the taxpayer and they are supposed to get the best money possible to put back into the public purse, If a developer had offered much more money for this land, then you can bet they still wouldn't have got it,they have been corrupt for decades.

The main reason the local tennants in those streets complained was because it built if would seriously affect sunlight/light and also the tv signals would be all over the place as it was being built infront of their ariels,Their protests against it were ignored and they were offered alternate housing and compensation of a couple of grand, there has also been questions asked as to who actually paid to demolish those houses, the unwashed or the council.

I asked quite a while back for all documents in relation to the sale of these houses along with all communication between the council and Celtc fc in a FOI request and told me they didn't have any records from that time as they are only kept for so long, quite odd given the council have records of almost everything going back a long time even to the days when they were a district council.

All it would take was someone to whistleblow about what was and has been going on with the councils love affair with their beloved club and all the corruption involved, they have been doing this for decades and it's about time the investigative journos in this country started digging rather than the cowards they are sitting with their fingers in their ears.

Surprised there's been little said about the former top man at GCC who seems to have 'stepped down' following some murky dealings. Brian Devlin's the name.

Covenanter posted most of this in 2002/3.

Yet only a few listened, took heed and were on the same page to begin with.

But what is most illuminating is the absolute turnaround from 1994 and the sale of those three streets and the reaction from the SNP councillor then, to the dregs they have in power today.

The SNP today would pay the filth to offer them (state) aid, rather than allow them to pay a heft one pence.

Scum the lot of them and it has to be said, yet again, when a Protestant votes a 'shettleston' into power, then they are the main problem.

The article in the OP contains bits and pieces of stuff posted on FF from over ten years ago. This is why it is so disjointed. It focuses exclusively on Scottish Labour when the key figures involved have largely departed the scene.

It mention a certain Robert McLuckie without explaining just why we should be concerned about him (see post below).

The use of language like 'Willie HeeHaw' and 'Snyde' is completely unnecessary.

A couple of allegations refer to proposals that never came to fruition (transport links) but this wasn't known at the time the original claims were posted.

However, the parts that are true are deeply troubling:

1. Local government aid to Celtic in terms of the sale of land for 1p.

2. Local government/Holyrood aid to Celtic in regard to the decision-making leading to the Commonwealth Games being focused on Parkhead. (As stated many years ago, this would inevitably raise land values and open up revenue-generating opportunities for Celtic not available to Rangers or any other club.) The overall cost of CG2014 was far in excess of the sum mentioned in the OP.

3. Corruption involved in the M74 extension.

4. The extremely strong links between the major players involved and particularly between Scottish Labour and Celtic.

Probably the most galling angle is that Jack McConnell, the man largely responsible for launching Scotland's sectarianism industry (intended to target Rangers supporters almost exclusively), was the prime beneficiary of anti-Protestant bigotry.

The OP is a bit of a shambles in terms of coherent arguments. The picture it paints of Scotland as a corrupt little banana republic is sadly true.

Bridget's boozed-up brother in bigoted blast at performers during awards bash.

SHAMEFUL

EXCLUSIVE
BY JACQUELINE McGHIE

The brother-in-law of former First Minister Jack McConnell shocked revellers at a charity bash by shouting sectarian abuse.

In a wild outburst, millionaire property developer Robert McLuckie - whose sister is Glasgow City Council's leisure director Bridget McConnell - spewed a string of hate-filled obscenities.

And as the names of hero soldiers killed in Iraq were flashed up on the big screen at last weekend's Tartan Clef awards, the shameless 47-year-old got to his feet and began BOOING.

Last night one disgusted onlooker fumed: "It was disgraceful.

"If this is how he behaves at a posh charity event, what on earth is he like on other occasions?"

McLuckie - who hit the headlines in March after cops launched a probe into his firm's purchase of five houses and a plot of land from the Executive for just £2 - was a guest at last Saturday's bash in Glasgow's Fruitmarket.

He tucked into dinner and drinks as rockers including Franz Ferdinand and Biffy Clyro were honoured.

But he`d clearly had one over the odds by the time former Trinity High School pupils Lisa McGregor and Maria Marshall, both 17, took the stage.

As they performed their updated version of Skids hit Into The Valley with singer Richard Jobson - who explained that it had been made to honour the soldiers who've fallen in the Gulf - a film played behind them showing the names and pictures of the dead.

But, bizarrely, as guests applauded the moving tribute, McLuckie clambered to his feet and began to boo.

While embarrassed pals tried to calm him, he then intercepted the performers as they came off stage.

Red in the face and with flecks of spittal flying from his mouth, the out-of-control tycoon screeched at them: "Proddy b*****ds".

He then turned on Richard, 47, howling "commie" at him before horrified mates bundled the boozed up businessman - still unaware his victims were CATHOLICS - back to his seat.

But one furious party-goer blasted: "The performance was lovely and touched a lot of hearts.

"The girls were really nervous at getting up there in front of so many big names yet they were fantastic.

"But to be confronted with this idiot roaring misguided abuse took the shine off their big moment.

"He upset a lot of people and he owes the performers an apology".

McLuckie's shocking tirade will come as a stinging embarrassment to McConnell. The former Labour leader, who stood down earlier this year, had championed the anti-sectarian fight in Scotland.

He dubbed religious bigotry "Scotland's secret shame" and tried to bring together churches and football clubs in a bid to stamp it out.

A source close to the politician said: "Jack will be furious to hear this.

"After all the work he put in to stamp this type of thing out, a member of his own family lets him down".

McLuckie's behaviour, however, didn`t put a damper on the night, which raised £144,000 for music therapy charity Nordoff-Robbins.

The cream of Scotland's music talent, including Wet Wet Wet, Texas stars Sharleen Spiteri and Johnny McElhone and Amy MacDonald saw The Skids pick-up a lifetime achievement award while Franz won the Tartan Clef.

McLuckie declined to comment but a Nordoff Robbins spokesman said: "It was a great night. This was a regrettable but small incident. Mr McLuckie has since apologised".

Ron Culley was never CEO of Scottish Enterprise, merely the local enterprise company, SE Glasgow.

The suggestion that the M74 extension was completed to benefit Celtic is tinfoil hat stuff.

All of the Labour politicians mentioned are no longer in office.

I agree with the main theme of the article, that the Establishment is pro-Celtic, Celtic benefitted disproportionately from the Commonwealth Games investment, and far too much regeneration funding has gone to the vicinity of Celtic Park. But much of that article is outdated and there are quite a few inaccuracies.

We just need the lads who dig all this info up to keep throwing it out there they are doing a great job digging the dirt. Surely one day someone will piece everything together.

ANY TAKERS IN THE SMSM???

You bunch of pathetic cowardly bastards!!!
SMSM, not a spine amongst them.

tell how much it was going to cost to put a station behind the old forge head office on Beardmore lane has been getting spoke about for over twenty years ?

never going to happen even after they force through their money grab on drivers.

That’s an unbelievable read.

In any other country in the world (well maybe apart from another couple of despots) this would be a national scandal. In Scotland, it’s openly celebrated.
How a supposed minority religion / community has managed to have so much power, and hold on to it tightly, is truly unbelievable.
I don’t want them to be completely marginalised; I just want equality. And we’re not getting that.
The stats on the Lord Provist alone should be a national scandal, never mind all the rest derailed above.

It is corruption at almost every level of our society with that rancid lot. Mhedia to local government to the bodies that run our game.

The whole f*cking thing stinks. We need "rangers minded" individuals to start taking up these positions and making a difference for our club.

The point about Sectarianism taking many forms is an apt one.

A serious examination of sectarianism would focus on how current arrangements address divisions in society, inevitably leading to a debate on segregation in education. It would also be necessary to look at recruitment practices to ascertain whether widespread religious discrimination existed in Scotland.

Nothing of the sort took place and 'sectarianism' was very quickly defined largely in terms of language. McConnell made sure Nil By Mouth became the judge and jury in terms of media coverage and introduced Section 74 of the 2003 Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act. This added 'aggravated by religious prejudice' as a factor in sentencing but it became very clear that the real target was Rangers fans - hence the apparent obsession with the word '19th Century Terrorist' and, particularly, 'The Billy Boys'. Since Celtic supporters' songs were deemed to be relatively free of 'religious' connotations, they were never targeted until the SNP's OBFA (even then, largely by accident).

Had anything similar taken place in England, there would have been intense scrutiny within the politics/media network. There was no chance of this happening in Scotland where vested interests found it convenient to marginalise Rangers fans.

Unfortunately we have been saying this for years they are untouchable.

You are right, but they are untouchable because there is no will among the media, politicians or Police to tackle these issues. All we do as a people, team and community do is slap our gums on FF (which I amguilty of myself, more than most).

At least chin your local MP and MSP, they all hold surgeries near you (dates of which will be on line) and you can just rock and wait your turn and convention is they must reply - I did this a few times last year and got letters in formal envelopes from parliament.

Every little helps, make a noise, the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

The subject is a tragedy but the OP was tremendous and well done for the work and research and time that has gone into exposing this.

The OP (further) exposes the fake news and agenda driven media in this shithole nation for what it is: what is taking place is not only a national scandal it is a crime on various levels with various perpetrators.

Any journalist worth his or her salt should be all over this, in fact should have been already. This is a real story which requires real digging, hard work, and some risk taking - like what real journalists do.

But no, as Leckie, Waddell, Jackson, Spiers all demonstrate with every article they write, they're not interested in hard work or risk taking and they certainly dont want to upset Celtic, each of their business models is to try to outdo the other in terms of vitriol for Rangers and Dave King. That is it.

No insight, no effort to uncover something of interest, no new ideas, just hackeneyed cliches and cut and paste from last week.

No wonder there is no trust or faith in the media.

Another example of cover up on the GCC front is the amazing sweeping they done when it was discovered that one of their companies was being used as a front for selling drugs. Again, in any other country, the news that the council was involved in the distribution of drugs would be front page news but here it was minimally reported and then a wall of silence hit.

Rancid to the core.

Private eye would have a field day with this.

Does anyone know the name of the poster on here who has been in correspondence with Private Eye about "Shifty (I hate those bastards) MacLennan ?

I'll send him a copy of this excellent piece by the OP and ask him to send that to his same Private Eye contact if he hasn't seen it already. Alternatively, if he PM's me with the name of his contact in PE, I'll send it off myself.

Stuff like this does need published in sympathetic publications.

From our side lets remember that we actually had more people at Ibrox during the Commonwealth Games than went to the Parkhead. What improvements were made to Ibrox, absolutely zilch. Also when Murray wanted to move Ibrox across Edmiston Drive to help increase the capacity what happened? As quick as the GCC could they slapped a listed building on the main stand to prevent this happening. Which in hind sight has been the only good thing they have done for us.

We just need the lads who dig all this info up to keep throwing it out there they are doing a great job digging the dirt. Surely one day someone will piece everything together.

ANY TAKERS IN THE SMSM???

You bunch of pathetic cowardly bastards!!!

You know the answer to that GF - they are all fucking scared of that paedo harbouring Club

Agree Arminius - we need to start showing the UK what these scumbags are like. All the media in Schotland are in their pocket.
