he Scottish FA can confirm the appointment of Jackie Brock as Chair of the Independent Wellbeing and Protection Advisory Board (IWPAB), a key recommendation of the Interim Report from the Review of Sexual Abuse in Scottish Football.

As Chief Executive of Children in Scotland, the national charity working to improve children’s lives, Jackie has experience in providing trusted and independent support on diverse and varied issues affecting children, families and those who support them. In 2015, she was commissioned by the Scottish Government to write The Brock Report, an independent review of Scotland’s system for safeguarding Scotland’s vulnerable children.

Prior to Children in Scotland, Jackie was the Depute Director of Learning and Support at the Scottish Government. She is also a non-executive director of Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

The board also includes: Lyall Cameron, Youth Ambassador of Change and Co-Chair of the Scottish FA Youth Congress, as Deputy Chair, Karyn McLuskey, Chief Executive of Community Justice Scotland and SPFL board director, Anna Fowlie, Chief Executive of Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, Jim McBride, Head of Adult Services at Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership, Larry Flanagan, General Secretary of EIS, Molly Hyde, Youth Ambassador of Change at Scottish FA, Phil Eaglesham, Organisational Lead (Rights and Inclusion), NHS Health Scotland, and Ian Maxwell, the Chief Executive of the Scottish FA.

The appointment of the IWPAB is a commitment to the implementation of the recommendations of the Independent Review published by Martin Henry, the independent chair, and the broad skillset and experience of the board will ensure a widespread approach to reinforcing child wellbeing and protection across the national game.

Jackie Brock said: “I am proud to have been asked to chair such a high-calibre independent board to ensure a robust and diligent approach to wellbeing and protection matters across Scottish football.

“The board is committed to ensuring the highest standards of protection and wellbeing through working collectively across the game and with external stakeholders as well as monitoring continuous improvement.

All good stuff moving forward, however what is being done about historical issues Ian ???

Horse and Bolted spring to mind !!!

I cannot view anything supposedly neutral in Scottish football without absolute cynicism. Hopefully this group proves me wrong. It is imperative that the enquiry is given the remit to leave no stone unturned, the resources to ensure full coverage is possible and there can be no putting agendas over justice. The victims deserve justice and the perpetrators and those who facilitated their evil crimes, are punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Should that not read, " ... will finally - after decades of neglect - help Scottish football safeguard the wellbeing of all children and young people involved in the game."

I read that announcement, and all I can picture is a fig leaf.

Quite frankly I don’t trust the SFA to appoint an impartial and non biased group to investigate the safety of our children

The SFA have known about these allegations at Parkpaed for decades and done nothing to protect or punish the guilty parties

The SFA couldn’t punish us quick enough for financial mismanagement

This canal requires an in-depth analysis of their backgrounds and allegiances

Am I missing something here? Where does it say they are looking into historical events? Ok fine if they are setting this up but it doesn’t really change things going forward on an inquiry into past abuses and coverups. And I also don’t want the corrupt SFA anywhere near it. And am I right in saying flannigan supports that lot? Personally I don’t think this changes anything as it’s an investigation into historical events that’s required.

Nothing to do with investigating the goings-on at Parkhead by the looks of it. But a good thing nonetheless.

I’d also like to question the timing of this. Do they know something is coming?
And the SFA should not be involved in this at all. It should be fully independent imo.

Yup, independent like getting Jimmie Krankie and the two polis at the Rangers end oblivious to the carnage all around them in 2016.

The question is, should we as a club get involved here?

Should we, be as a board, be asking questions of the bona fides of the runts being part of the scam here?

The thing is we don't have a journalist worthy of the name prepared to ask the question.

If the roles were reversed, filth journos and politicians would be all over this.

We don't have that luxury.

We need to go for the jugular here. (IMO)

No one else will do it for us.

How on earth can it be an 'Independent' Board with Ian Maxwell on it? It makes no sense at all to have the SFA head honcho on it - surely a clear conflict of interest if it is truly independednt
There are 3 SFA employees on that committee, one from the SPFL and another 2 who smell suspiciously like mentally challenged bedfellows.
Independent my arse.

We absolutely need to go after Celtic and nail the bastards, because at the end of the day when this whole sordid affair is over, and if they emerge relatively unscathed, and our club kept its dignity and said nothing, their entire mafia is going to come after us.
They won’t care about the horrific abuse that took place, they won’t care about the ensuing cover ups, they won’t care about the victims receiving nominal compensation and they won’t even care about the lawyers who forced Celtic into court.
What they will care about though is those trouble making, point scoring Rangers fans, who in their eyes, made all this much worse for Celtic and who in their eyes caused all this trouble and embarrassment for them.
So as ever with them, it’s all about us and as public enemy number one, we will be targeted for destruction.
So that is why Dave King needs to have a proper strategy in waiting and strike when the time is right, because if we don’t do it to them, they are going to regroup and do it to us.
