Cash out option

Don't bet that often but decided to cash out for £1 bet yesterday at £40 but if I let it play I would have £92. Just wondering what kind of money other folk have cashed out on but could have won ?

A bit of advice mate as I think this is the second thread you've posted doing this, take the caps lock off when typing the thread title or the thread will get chopped.

Depends on the fixtures but I normally consider doing it at anything over 50% of the pot!
Normally greed takes over and I end up with nothing!

It was a both teams to score and waiting on 75th division thai team was getting beat 3 0 so I thought 40 quid better than nowt

If I was absolutely skint and I've got a stack of 1-0s with say ten minutes to go, then I'd use it provided it was a half decent return. Otherwise I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole, just my personal preference.

Anything that the bookies advertise as much as cash out should be avoided at all costs . Nothing wrong with trading out a bet yourself but the margin they add is insane .

Unless they have totally exposed themselves in the market

See Blackpool relegation 20/1 (25/1) right price be 6/1 with docking points if confirmed taking it lower

Hills panicked and went 7/4

Take the cashout.

I've cashed out a couple of times only for what looked like a winning bet to lose however my worst one was the infamous Annie Power race at Cheltenham a few years back. Like just about every punter going I'd lumped on the Mullins accumulator and stood win something like £3K if Annie Power got over the line. Mid race my cash out option was at £2K and I was sitting poised ready to take it. My mate was giving me pelters telling me there was no way AP could lose and look how far ahead she was etc etc but I just had a feeling. I hit the cash out button about 0.00005 seconds after she clattered the fence and went arse over tit. By that time cash out was suspended and I got feck all. If my reactions had been a fraction quicker and I've had £2K in my pocket!

My point is you could still trade it yourself . As they’d offer 2/5 not to you’d have to wait right enough but avoid the much bigger margin .

I decide on individual bets but in general cash-out benefits the bookies. They wouldn't offer it if it didn't.

You don’t need it Lester, I remember you fleeced HMRC

It’s swings and roundabouts with the cash out
I’ve cashed out and the bet has come up, think the most it’s cost me is about 300
I’ve also cashed out and the bet eventually lost a few times probably the most I’ve made in one hit is 200
The way I look at is if when placing the bet at say 70/1 and I get offered a cash out that pays say 45/1. Would I have initially placed the bet at 45/1

Cant stand people that cash out, especially on accumulators, what's the point in backing an acca if you'd take much shorter odds. May as well just bet on short odds to start with!

As many have said, the bookies wouldn't offer it if it didn't benefit them.

I cashed out out on Justin Rose last night for £38.13, correct decision this time but as previous posters have stated the bookies wouldn't be doing unless it benefited them.

Useful if say 2 minutes to go you’ve 4 teams all winning 1 0, how do you lay off yourself.

Down to the person at the end of the day. Everyone has a good and bad story of gambling, find it amazing how passionate some people get about cash out.

That’s the same as taking bets full stop, they don’t bet to 100% on each market they offer for example.

Unless you were at the track I’ll be amazed if you tried to cash out that so soon after Power hit the fence. More likely 2/3 seconds after if watching on tv, huge amount of time in gambling and especially Horse Racing.

I despise the cash out option. You have clearly gone through a semi rational thought process when staking your money and selecting your bet. Just have the balls to see it out and pat yourself on the back afterwards. It’s a bit like being in a nightclub with your pals and you are having a great time. A bit of skirt flashes her fanny at 11pm but there’s drinking to be done and it’s too early. Yes, you will get your hole but see the night out and even if you don’t pull at the end of the night you can always go for a kebab and a wank.

It can be used to your advantage at times.
What you really mean is you can get lucky sometimes, but that's the same with every bet everyone has ever made.
Folk slam the roulette machines and rightly so, but you can win on them too. It doesn't stop folk from calling them a con. Exactly what cash out is too. A big fucking bookie con. I hate the bastards.

I'm actually fed up with people trying convince others it's a good thing.
It's godawful.

If you regularly cash out, you'll lose in the end.

The cash out option made bookies millions and that's from a Director of a major bookies.

I've been doing the American nags recently and had a horse last week as a dirt specialist at 8/1 (some Vietnamese name I can't remember), so it crashed to Evens on 365 as the race was switched to dirt during a downpour and I was offered £257 on cash out from £100 staked...I tapped it out as risk free profit, of course it romped home.

I then tapped out a £100 bet on a 5/1 shot at Santa Anita, and re-bet for £50...again it romped home.

Next thing on Sunday morning, I get the message from 365 advising I wouldn't be allowed cash out on any horses again.

I'm not sure they're doing this for my own good.

I'm guilty as charged, but it's not really amazing. When you see bookies thieving people's money it's very easy to get passionate.

There was a guy in the paper once whos son who was a toddler hit cash out on his phone for like a quid or suhin and lost out on thousands

Edit: this might be it

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/punter-misses-out-220000-after-14084482

Happened to me.

The wean cashed out for 25 quid on a £500 coupon.

Argued my case with the bookie that I didn’t cash out but they just told me I must have done it by accident and told me me to disable the one click cash out button.
