Platini arrested over giving Qatar the World Cup 2022

If proven guilty i hope they throw away the key. Ruining the game of football and the World Cup tournament. Greed is the downfall of man.
 
The whole world knew it was a back hander after Quatar got awarded the decision to play the world cup, every country across Europe where eh we can't have the competition in November December our leagues are halfway through our seasons. Here's hoping more arrests should bring the investigation team over here to have a look at bheast f.c

Mental decision from the start.

Having to change the regular football seasons to accommodate the tournament, playing in ridiculous heat, awful human rights violations, tiny wee country that has no business building so many stadiums for a one off event.
 
Liewell’s mate, would be lovely if he’s uncovered in some sort of corruption scandal that comes of this.

An absolute disgrace that the World Cup was awarded to Qatar in the first place and was clear as day that brown envelopes had been exchanged. They should be stripped immediately of it and the tournament handed to Australia as they are in the Asian federation so it won’t affect this continental rotation thing fifa have and probably already have the infrastructure to cope.

I'm sure I read that his daughter is an architect and her husband is an artist (possibly the other way around) and both were given ludicrous contracts in relation to the Qatar WC for stadium projects and art installations (respectively) .
I hope he's jailed.
 
Good, now take the WC back and give it to a country or countries who have the infrastructure in place to hold the event. All this stuff about air conditioned stadia and then changing it to winter was a farce to begin with and should have seen it moved. Add to that the fact they’ve basically bought the WC and used slavery in building for it. It should be boycotted by major nations

In all honesty, they'd have died just building some other super structures in Doha, or planting the grass that needs replaced every month, or cleaning the streets in 45 degree heat with little protection.

The country itself is ultimately culpable for these people's deaths.

Listened to the audiobook 'Red Card: How the U.S. Blew the Whistle on the World's Biggest Sports Scandal' it really is galling to have it laid out what these arseholes get up to. Think they just kept going because they could basically get away with what they liked.
 
As said above the migrant workers thing is slightly different in that UAE works them to death anyway...world cup or not. They're not there FOR the world cup.

I agree that Russia wasn't nearly as bad a decision as Qatar being a football nation in the first place. However at the time of the bidding England's was the runaway outstanding bid. They had all the stadiums in place, the internal travel infrastructure with relatively short journeys between venues , ample Hotel accommodation and airports that could handle the volumes of overseas supporters anticipated. Russia had none of that in place at the time, albeit they did ultimately manage to put on a good tournament.

True, If the corrupt decision was never made for the tournament to be hosted in this Country then those deaths would be have been highly unlikely.
