Liverpool v Napoli friendly at Murrayfield?

Most fans of us and the c*nts have actually been to a game.
Most of Liverpool and Man Uniteds global fanbase have never even been to to the UK except to pose for silly selfies in front of Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament.
Im not talking about global fanbases, thats down to sky and there brilliant selling of the epl worldwide. Liverpool and man Utd have for as far back as I remember had a closeness to scotland which was due to the top players and managers who were part of their clubs.
I remember going to love street in 1977 when Liverpool came up to play st mirren for their testimonial and the away end was basically all rangers fans supporting Liverpool.

Get a grip, they are missing a Rangers friendly to see another team they support play in their own country. Hardly the crime of the century ffs! If they were missing a competitive Rangers match to watch a Liverpool friendly then it would be different! Turn off the staunch meter for a day ffs!

Almost all clubs in the old English 1st division in the 70’s had players who came from Scotland.
It is true that at that time , Liverpool were probably the most popular English club with Bears. Seemed to change over the years though.

I know what your saying about the players, but also back then you had 2 very iconic managers from scotland who basically made them. Shankly and Busby, followed by fergie, who sadly I think will be the last we will see the like of again.

I’d love to know how many who claim to be Rangers fans, but don’t go to the games have fucked off to Edinburgh at the drop of a hat for an over priced friendly.

Aye! Yer damned tooting I won’t be defending them or any other that dingies Rangers for another team.
I know they really should have known Rangers were going to play Derby before buying tickets for Liverpool even though it wasn't announced until 2 weeks later.
I would have thought someone as staunch as you would only be on the match thread but then of course you're at the game.

Folk defending Rangers fans going to another game when the Rangers are playing.
You having a laugh?
Everywhere, anywhere...except Ibrox when there’s a game 45 miles away.

As has been pointed out multiple times now, the Derby game was announced around 3 weeks after the Liverpool game. At that point, we had a free Sunday. Folk will have already made plans to go to Murrayfield well before Rangers organised the Derby game.

I’m working:)):))

It's been a bit of a frustrating pre season for Liverpool, I know results aren't overly important in pre season, but they seem to be struggling without the class front 3, and worryingly they are also conceding goals.

We were never going to have a free weekend.

Enjoyable then folks?

The game was decent enough.

Insigne was for me, the best player on the pitch and Liverpool looked lost without their front 3 (Salah, Mane and Firmino).

Very concerning for them if they lose 1 of those players during the season as nobody looks good enough to fill the gap. They need another 2 players in at most.

I enjoyed Insigne's play, thought he was well ahead of everyone else.

Liverpool over-played quite a lot around the penalty box and final ball was poor. Very average looking overall despite a bright enough start. They really are lost without Salah, Firmino and Mane.

Insigne had Alexander-Arnold on toast all game. Was criminal the amount of space he kept being given. Napoli actually played some really good stuff today.

Agreed, Insigne caused Liverpool all sorts of problems. Liverpool were really poor but I was there as I neutral and didn't care who won.

Game wasnt the best but I'm glad I've been to Murrayfield now. Would like to see more games of football there.... certainly better than hampden in my opinion.

Seen a video of friends there today, some who have never been t a Liverpool game before. Singing the shite stolen anthem. Complete Plastic. Embarrassment.

I thought Napoli were well positioned today and knew exactly what they were doing to a man.

Struck down with food poisoning this morning and didn't make the game. Absolute bastard. Saw the highlights and Liverpool looked poor.

Napoli are a good side with some excellent players. They were also going to be really up for it after being dumped out of the CL by Liverpool and pumped 5-0 by them last pre-season.

Liverpool have had a poor preseason but I think it was always likely. Alisson, Firmino, Salah and Mané are still on vacation, having played in the Copa America and ACN. Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Henderson and Alexander-Arnold haven’t been back that long, having been given more time off after the League of Nations or whatever it was called. Shaqiri also played there and picked up an injury, as did Keita at the ACN. Oxlade-Chamberlaine is coming back from very serious injury and has a slight issue presently and they have been rotating players, being pre-season.

It’s entirely understandable things are off.

I do think they should have added a couple of senior players, a number ten and a fullback, who ideally could play both sides but they just need players back and fit.

Napoli have played some terrific football for a few years now.

It's a far superior stadium to Hampden.

I am just a neutral observer watching this at 22:00 in the local on Liverpool TV. Why are Liverpool wearing what I am told, is their 3rd strip? Surely their fans would have been expected to see them wearing the famous all red ensemble? Surely for their young fans who went to Murrayfield today, Liverpool could have at least played in their colours? I know this may be trivia, but it sums up the disconnect between heritage and commercialism.

Totally agree.. much better stadium than Hampden and my boys had a great day out too, Napoli were very impressive.

Got to admit to being somewhat annoyed that Liverpool weren't in red today. Trivial, I know.

All used up and on a written warning as it is.

Paid for my ticket though.
Written warning, that's harsh just for being on a Liverpool thread all day instead of working. I've heard what those Sports Direct bosses are like.
You hang in there and keep your chin up ,something better will come along where you don't work weekends and can see every Rangers game.
Great to see that you paid for your ticket as well as an RTV subscription so you could watch it at work, well worth that written warning.
