Got into a ruck with an Indy nutter on Twitter about sofa and rangers he came back with this gem is he correct... Secret 5 way deal. Giving Rangers a license to play in Europe when there was an outstanding tax bill.

The argument is Rangers should not have played in Europe/been granted license due to financial mess at the club at time.

Hahahahaha.

5 way deal was to do with League Membership.
Rangers didn’t need a Euro licence as we were voted out the “breakaway” private Members Club of the SPL that required us to join the Scottish Football League. They then merged the Football League and SFA to make the SPFL. Why even bother engaging with these freaks. Just tell him Big Jock Knew and let him roast.

About the only thing that seemed to go our way at the time, and even then it still felt like we were being fucked over. The 5 way was their ticket to title stripping but i’m sure chuck green safeguarded that (no laughing at the back).

Of course that comes after I draw him out he’s not said what team he supports ..yet

Wouldn't and couldn't be bothered trying to explain to the bigot haters. Just ask any of them, what about the secret 1 way deal at the piggery, you would think that was more important

He's getting confused about the whole 'Resolution 12' thing. That was totally different from the 5 way agreement we were forced to accept.

Remember, they also took out a newspaper ad in the wrong language in the wrong country just to get their point across.

Also had the slightly rapey slogan of 'Persistence beats resistance'.....

Compare and contrast.

2007. Leeds Utd fail to exit administration via a CVA. A new company (newco) bought the assets and the original company went into liquidation. Leeds started the following season in the league they were supposed to be in, with a points deduction. End of matter.

2012. Rangers fail to exit administration via a CVA. A new company (newco) bought the assets and the original company went into liquidation. The Scottish football authorities told Rangers there was no precedent for dealing with this situation (Leeds?) so it would be left for the clubs to vote. Rangers were kicked out of the SPL and went all the way down to the bottom tier. We had prize money withheld. We were fined. We were hit with an illegal transfer ban. They tried to blackmail us into forfeiting titles and trophies in exchange for transferring our football license/SFA membership to the new company. We've spent the next 7 years listening to moonhowlers telling everyone who will listen that we're a new club, with certain "journalists" joining in and giving it credence.

The morning after we win 55 that wee story should land in the inbox of the SFA and every media outlet in the country with a demand for an explanation.

Tell that one to your yahoo pal.

Think this might be in reference to the resolution 12 guff over the small tax case nothing to do with any agreement.

Uefa have looked at this and are not in the least bit interested. The SFA have also looked at it themselves and have no power to do anything no matter how much of a yahoo agenda they might have.

Only thing they could do is spend £100,000 to take us to CAS just to slap a £5000 fine on us. If that happens you may as well turn the lights out on Scottish football.

Excellent post. There's also a more contemporary example right now, I believe, with what is happening at Bolton Wanderers. Assetss transferred to Football Ventures (newco) and the oldco (currently in Administration) and headed towards Liquidation.

I've heard that as well mate but haven't seen anything in the mainstream media about the oldco going into liquidation. Possibly because nobody cares down there. As soon as its reported somewhere I'll be bookmarking that link as well.

The lunatics pushing resolution 12 want to report it to City of London police and take it to CAS

Brilliant, concise summing up of what went on, TN8.

If I remember right, though, wasn't the transfer ban unlawful, rather than illegal? Wasn't it the case that the ban was judged to be punishment for breaking a law that didn't exist, rather than the contravention of an actual law?

OP tell the Indy nutter that Bonny Prince Charlie and his Jacobite army were all Tranny’s who liked to dress up in skirts and wear wigs :)

As an English club from a different association I doubt Leeds could be used as a precedent.

Or at least, I'm pretty sure that will be their stance and they're damn well sticking to it.

Sure it may have helped guide them, but obviously there were other pressures at play to ensure we were left as handicapped as possible for fairly evident reasons so any relevant examples were duly ignored.

Was there ever any explanation for withholding prize money though? Is it that such awards were / are actually made to the business entity rather than the football club, and as that was dissolved any such funds would just have been added to the pot to pay off creditors with anyway?

And every media outlet will claim its our first league trophy.

One or two will undoubtedly try, but as it’s already been legally agreed by all and sundry that the football club remains historically continuous with the entity formed in 1872 any attempt to infer we aren’t should be met by the full force of the law given the theoretic damage to our brand identity.

The next trophy we win, be it the league title or the league cup, is going to reopen a lot of festering scabs for the haters.

If it wasn't for Super Ally Green would have given up everything to ensure we got a licence to play in Division 3, this after all allowed him and his pals to pocket £M's in the subsequent share issue.

Are the resolution 12 lunatics still chasing this up?
Yes.
The current CO had 2 charges left waiting her arrival by her predecessor relating to res 12. (Which are basically disrepute charges relating to Craig Whyte, and are reliant on him having told the truth at one point.)
He(McGlennan) himself considered 2 other charges and dismissed them as he resigned.
She has had these 2 charges under consideration since August last year, it is utterly incredible that she cannot come to a decision on these matters before now.
I believe her predicament may relate to intention of stripping titles, trophies and relegation of a club for being robbed by a crook, and ignoring a club who actively covered up the operation of a paedophile ring, and allowed hudreds of children to be sexually abused.
IMO I can see an amnesty being introduced for historic crimes to allow Rangers to be let off the hook. Watch this space.

Is there a genuine opinion out there that Rangers got off lightly in 2012?
Absolutely - there are folk out there who think Rangers were treated favourably and were somehow rewarded in all of this.

People thinking that are typically your, “foaming at the mouth” style bigots whose every other word is, “cheating”.

Steady on mate, I enjoy wearing a nice skirt on the weekend. Don’t lump the transgender loyal in with the Indy loons :p

I still think the sudden merger of the SPL & SFL into the SPFL was done by these organisations as to protect them in some way from Rangers seeking retribution in years to come.

It was more a takeover not a merger. The SFL was absorbed into the SPL and it was rebranded as the SPFL. I think I’m correct in saying that the SPFL has the same company number as the SPL was. So, if there is any truth that they were seeking to escape anything then they have made a pretty ham-fisted, and doomed, attempt at it.

More sameco than newco, if you like.

Thought it was more to do with them wanting the tv cash that rangers were getting which was being spread about the small clubs, but not the spl

That was done so the SPFL (basically the SPL under another name) could get their grubby wee hands on Rangers TV rights while we were down in the SFL.

They had blood lust when they kicked us out of the SPL but were still desperate for a slice of any potential TV income generated from our games being shown on on sky.

More staggering hypocrisy.
