SPFL clubs have been invited to vote by 5pm today on a resolution recommending the termination of the 2019/20 season in the Ladbrokes Championship, League 1 and League 2 – with the same applying to the Premiership if the remaining matches in our division cannot be played due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

St Mirren Football Club fully support the resolution put forward by the SPFL this week, as stated:

"SPFL clubs are to vote on a resolution recommending the termination of the 2019/20 season in the Ladbrokes Championship, Ladbrokes League 1 and Ladbrokes League 2, with final season placings determined by points per game in league matches played to date by each club.

"The resolution also recommends that matches in the Ladbrokes Premiership remain postponed for the time being, to give the best possible opportunity for the remaining 2019/20 fixtures to be played.

"However, if the SPFL Board determines that the remaining Premiership matches cannot be played, the Ladbrokes Premiership would also be terminated, with final season placings determined on the same basis."

Our club has previously said, the concerns of football during this terrible crisis seems like a small thing when an increasing number of people are dying daily from coronavirus. Yet, it has become clear that for the sake of the game’s future in Scotland, a decision is going to have to be made that gives clarity to the SPFL’s member clubs.

The Board of Directors continue to meet regularly to review the financial stability of our club. This is essential in these unprecedented times.

St Mirren, in common with all other football people, would have always preferred to play the season to its proper conclusion, however for the protection of both fans and players, football should take a break until after the summer and hopefully be able to start season 2020/21 as soon as possible, safely.

As both the UK and Scottish Governments make clear daily, everybody must stay at home as much as possible, to protect the NHS and save lives. Putting increased pressure on clubs to end this season, and potentially start next season early is not what society needs right now.

Not only are these clubs looking after their own interests, as you'd expect, but the truth is that there are far too many cowards involved in Scottish football - people with zero backbone who are happy to forever be cucks to Lawwell and Celtic

%^*& sporting integrity if it means St Mirren can’t be relegated and helps out their mates in the east end of Glasgow. Scottish football, corrupt to the core!

The minute you vote for a League winner, you kill the game.

I pay to go and see football, this season - Eurovision.

Johnny Logan wins again.

They won't see it as voting for a league winner. Them voting for it is simply protecting their own interests. Can't blame them or any other club for that. The problem is that the vote is set up for Celtic to be awarded the title because all clubs will vote in their own interests.

Looking at the table they could quite easily be relegated. Club's are selfish and only interested in themselves. I get that they are a business but a business involved in sport. There's absolutely no sportsmanship and their integrity, along with the others, is completely shot. Self serving for the love of their own self interests rather than the good and more importantly the integrity of the game.

Why is everyone getting their panties in a twist about this? Saint Mirren are always going to look after themselves. Scottish football is in such a state financially, largely due to a league structure and tv deal that acts as a life support machine to clubs who haven’t been looking after their finances for years. No one will want to play roulette with their future and I don’t blame them.

The sporting integrity of Scottish football can never be compromised, or it seems it can when it suits.

Surprise, surprise there then

I'd expect them to. Every club is going to vote to suit their own interests and it's hard to criticise them for that.
Except that most clubs voted against their best interest to ensure sporting integrity was maintained when they were voting on Rangers being admitted into the top flight

Just a long winded, nothing statement that basically alludes to them agreeing with the corrupt proposal because it keeps them in the big league.
Like most it’s The Self Preservation Society.

St midden getting their tummy tickled again, a holes. I know plenty of their fans and they would go mental at being told that was the case, self righteous 'we support oor local team' numpties most of them.

Most of them were blackmailed by their own fans with the threats of boycotts if they didn't vote against Rangers.

As the song goes " no one likes us , we don't care "
Well should as it's hurting us big time , nobody has forgiven us for the EBT years , they all listened to the Tim's spin on thing's, if you ask the clubs in Scotland to have a vote to remove Rangers from the league, it would be a resounding YES , we are hated in Scotland for just being here , & our people at the top of our club should remember that , there's no bridges to build it takes two sides to make peace & no one else is interested, & for the child abuse thing at the knew camp , nobody is interested in that in football circles, it's sad to say it didn't affect anybody else , septic hid it from everybody , but the EBT'S is different as it was spun in the media & by certain clubs that we cheated all clubs to have the upper hand & it affected all clubs , that's why we won't ever ever get a fair hearing or treated with respect again .
