St Mirren v Hamilton postponed

What if they were playing Celtic next week? You be happy with them getting 3 points for nowt?

Points deduction and reschedule the game is the only fair way.
they give them three points every game so no change there, bit like sheep.

point being it can be used the in the same way the scum used an ex players death.

They can’t seriously expect teams to forfeit a 3-0 loss unless they rewind and do the same to the first two rule breakers.

Therefor Aberdeen and Celtic would need to be back dated punished.

"The SPFL have now launched their second investigation in a week into the circumstances of the latest postponement. Disciplinary proceedings will follow next week following allegations of serious breaches of social distancing protocols surrounding player car sharing, coach journeys and team meals. Kilmarnock already face the possibility of a points forfeit after the league followed the postponement of their recent game with Motherwell with disciplinary charges. Privately senior figures regard the charges facing St Mirren as more serious."

I have no doubt we will be affected at some point so don't want to jinx anything but so far the majority of teams have done well yet st mirren seem to be having outbreaks every other week.

The most serious breach of the season was a certain player jumping on a plane to a Covid hotspot, returning to the UK, refusing to quarantine and then actually playing in a match....

The problem with a forfeit in a league game is it randomly favours the scheduled opponents.

Imagine Rangers at the end of the season 3 points and 2 goals ahead, but Celtic have one game to play. Their opponents (St Mirren? Kilmarnock? Aberdeen?) have a COVID outbreak. Fair enough to penalise the opponents, but is it fair Celtic get awarded a 3-0 win?

Nothing concerning them is ever fair mate.

SPL need to be questioned why null & void is even being discussed?

What about the Sky TV deal?

How can they allow the 19/20 SC to be completed but N&V wasn’t an option last season so they could hand the mentally challengeds the title

I wouldn’t trust the SPL as we all know it’s focus is to help one team

Rangers should tell Doncaster the clubs have rejected the extra SPL powers so piss off

The fact the EPL and other major leagues seem to be getting on with things with very few cases which result in games being postponed suggests a lack of professionalism by certain clubs.

A combination of that and their squads being so small that even a few cases results in them being unable to field a squad for a game.

Just seems like amateur hour in the SPL.

Bin the Scottish cup & League cup if necessary.
The league, Sky cash & European access must take priority.
The SFA will never allow the Scottish Cup to be binned. They have protected it from day dot. It's also a revenue stream for them and as we know they are on their proverbials

How much of a revenue stream is it now with no fans?

I agree they will never allow it to be cancelled, it’s beyond embarrassing them playing last years next month with totally different squads, but the usual happy clappers in the media can’t wait to hail Lennys treble heroes or some bollocks like that.

The rules should have been set before the season started. The clowns have absolutely no excuse this time after the events of last season.

Did they learn nothing, or are they just corrupt?
No prizes for the correct answer.

On 1 April 2000 (despite the date, not a joke), Hamilton Accies failed to fulfil an away fixture at Stenhousemuir.

Stenny were not awarded the points. In fact, the game was replayed at a later date (Accies won 1-0).

But Accies were penalised. 15 point deduction, which at the time seemed Draconian (not any more!) but set a precedent.

Every club unable to fulfil a fixture this season should be deducted 15 points for each instance.

It’s only fair!

Depends on the reason surely? There wasn't a pandemic in 2000. Why did Accies fail to fulfil the fixture?

You must be a youngster!

Accies were between grounds and in serious financial difficulties. The players hadn’t been paid for weeks. Eventually they refused to play, which brought matters to a head, but meant Accies failed to fulfil a fixture.

At the time, I think it was the harshest penalty any Scottish league team had ever been handed down. The panel hearing the appeal, which Accies lost 3-2, including clubs who benefited directly from the points deduction. It caused Accies to be relegated, and Queen of the South to survive.

Harsher penalties have been issued since, as you well know.

Different circumstances, sure. But a precedent. Regardless of the number of points, surely teams failing to fulfil fixtures should be docked points?

The players were entitled to refuse as their employer was in breach of contract and any football rule to the contrary should not prevail. The authorities then punished them again as well as the club by effectively relegating them, but took no action against the owners for not paying, and for breaking the law by insolvent trading.
