Ob la di Ob la da - Beatles

I recall my brother singing, and it's stuck with me to this day,
I'd like to teach the world to sing
The sash my father wore
I'd like to hang the pope
From an orange rope
Outside a Chapel door

Couldn't say if these were the words sang on the terraces or just his version
That’s the version I always heard and a wee add on at the end sometimes “it’s the real thing the pope on a string”

“He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands”, became “We’ve Got The Best Team In The Land”. We’ve got Norrie Martin number one etc right through to Orjan Persson number 11.
“Gin Gan Goolie” by The Scaffold became “Wullie Wullie Wullie Johnston On The Wing”.
“Give Peace A Chance” became “Give Us A Goal”.
“Jesus Christ Superstar” became “UDA All The Way, Fuk The Pope and The IRA”.
“Wandrin Star” “I Was Born Under A Union Jack”.
The support were very innovative back in the day.
Oh %^*& yer Harry
yer Lou Macari
yer Kevin Barry
yer Harry Hood,yer Harry Hood

Oh I'd rather be a darkie than a tim
Oh I'd rather be a darkie than a tim
Oh I'd rather be a darkie,rather be a darkie,rather be a darkie than a tim.
Hula Hula.

These were classics in the Copland Road end circa 1970's

Another favourite at the start of the NI troubles.
Bernadettes a cow Bernadettes a cow e i o ma daddio Bernadettes a cow.
For Bernadette Devlin .
Another classic was. If youd fight for Londonderry clap your hands, if youd fight for Londonderry clap you hands, if youd fight for Londonderry clap your hands, if youd fight for Londonderry, fight for Londonderry, fight for Londonderry clap your hands.

Maybe getting songs a wee bit mixed up there

Remember being at Somerset and we're going to win the league to that tune lasted for about 30 minutes non stop during the second half.
I remember that as well I was on the side terrace with my Dad there didn’t seem to be a pause for breath. It was quite funny , it would run to the end then start up again over and over and over :))

Dean Ford and the Gaylords.
Yeah Dean Ford (Tommy McLeese) from my home town Coatbridge, he was also a Rangers fan, my Godmothers son is married to his cousin...Fantastic singer.
Yeah I remember us singing the chorus to this song, but not the actual words

From our visit to Manchester in February 1974, as the local police approached us, we sang (to the tune of tie me kangaroo down sport) ‘what’s the matter with you screw, what’s the matter with you’ :)

Tbh the only reason I remember is because they played at the final year dance when I left school.

I was quite gobsmacked to see them reappear as Marmalade.

Obviously loads of variants of these songs

I remember

I'd like to teach the world to sing, The Sash in Harmony
I'd like to guard old Derrys Walls, and help to keep them free
I'd like to sing God Save the Queen on the 12th day of July
And sing it to, The Orangemen, as they go marching by
UB over to you, nice wee slow harmony number to mix up the song list!!

The Pope is on the gallows in the market square
The bishops dain a pish against the wall
Paisley said give them all the orange pill
