1952 - Rangers announced the installation of floodlighting had been completed at Ibrox, paving the way for trials to begin with night time matches. The club went on to arrange a series of matches to test the new lighting. The official launch of the lights came on December 8th 1953 when Arsenal sent a team north and recorded a 2-1 win
1958 - Kilmarnock 0 Rangers 3 (Brand 2,Wilson) - Scottish League Division One (25,672)
1961 - Rangers 1 ASK Vorwaerts 0 - European Champions' Cup 2nd Round 2nd Leg (Match Abandoned At H/T Due To Weather Conditions) (Played in Malmo,Sweden) (3,012)
Rangers had already won the first leg in Berlin 2-1 and thus started the game as favourites, but they would have to do so without the famous Ibrox roar behind them; the Cold War was such that clubs from behind the Iron Curtain were not given entry visa's into NATO countries and Rangers had to play in Malmo in Sweden. A crowd of just over 3,000 had seen Willie Henderson give Rangers the lead when the game was abandoned at half-time due to fog.
1969 - Morton 2 Rangers 2 (Stein, Johnston) - Scottish League Division One (18,000)
1972 - Hibernian 1 Rangers 0 - League Cup Semi-Final (Played at Hampden Park) (46,513)

1989 - Aberdeen 1 Rangers 0 - Scottish Premier Division (22,500)
1995 - Rangers 1 (Gascoigne) Steaua Bucharest 1 - European Champions League Group C (30,800)
The undoubted highlight of the game was a wonder goal from Paul Gascoigne, running 50 yards through the Steaua defence, but with Rangers gaining no more than a point and Juventus surprisingly slipping up against Borussia Dortmund,it meant Rangers' involvement in the competition was effectively over.
1997 - Motherwell 1 Rangers 1 (McCoist) - Scottish Premier Division (12,018)
2001 - Rangers 0 Paris St.Germain 0 - UEFA Cup 3rd Round 1st Leg (49,223)
2003 - Rangers 3 (Lovenkrands 2, Hughes) Aberdeen 0 - Scottish Premier League (49,962)
2008 - Rangers 2 (Darcheville, Boyd) Aberdeen 0 - Scottish Premier League (50,166)
2014 - Hearts 2 Rangers 0 - Scottish Championship (17,004)

Strange that this particular date has resulted in so many poor results over the last 50 years.

Carl Hansen

Born in Copenhagen, Carl Hansen made himself an early reputation as a dangerous striker in the Copenhagen club Boldklubben 1903 (B 1903), playing in the amateur-only Danish championship from 1915 to 1921. He helped B 1903 win the first Danish championship in club history in 1920. B 1903 played professional Scottish side Rangers F.C. at Idrætsparken in the spring of 1921. The Danes lost although the match 2-1, but Rangers were impressed by the Danes. In particular, they were impressed by Hansen, who was notable for his excellent attacking play and the attitude of a dignified professional. In autumn 1921, Hansen signed a contract with Rangers and became the first Danish professional footballer in the history of Danish football.[3] He cost Rangers a fee of twenty pounds.

Hansen was very popular in Glasgow, and was referred to as "The Great Little Dane and "The Little Shoemaker", and was the first foreigner who scored in an Old Firm match. He helped Rangers win the Scottish championship in 1923, 1924 and 1925. His stay in Scotland, however, was relatively short. A broken leg ended his career after only four seasons with Rangers. When he returned to Denmark, he served a mandatory two-year quarantine, before he was allowed by the Danish Football Association to play amateur football in Denmark once again. He played one season for his old club B 1903, until he retired in 1928.

International career

Hansen made his debut for the Denmark national football team in June 1918. As a B 1903 player, he was included in the Danish team for the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, but he did not play any games at the tournament.

Moving to Rangers spelled the end of Hansen's national team career, as the Danish Football Association did not allow professionals to play for the national team until 1971. Because of this rule, Hansen only played seven matches and scored three goals, including two goals in his debut against Sweden. In October 1918, he scored his third and last goal when Denmark beat Norway 4-0.

1989 - Im sure this was the midweek game and we played them off the pitch but couldnt score. Hans Gillhaus scored for Aberdeen

1986 Ian Porterfield's first game as Aberdeen manager after Ferguson went to Manchester United?

2001 - Relatively quiet and cagy game considering the quality of player on show. Ricksen got sent off for handbags with Heinze in last couple minutes.
I do remember walking away with a real disappointment we hadn’t won the game. PSG were there for the taking that night and we knew going to Paris would be tough.

2014 - Hearts 2 Rangers 0 - Scottish Championship (17,004)

Shudder.

I think this was the defeat that was the beginning of the end for McCoist as manager.

I'd suggest that came much earlier by signing and then playing some of those self entitled aresholes, in the first place. Perhaps harsh to refer to Rangers players as that but, I genuinely think I'm being kind to the likes of Ian Black. Dark days.

Graeme Souness was utterly ridiculed by the media for stating that if Rangers played like that between then and the end of the season then they would be champions.

Rangers won the league.
