The Parkhead legend has urged supporters to stay patient with Neil Lennon's replacement - because imminent success across the city proves good things come to those who wait.

Former Celtic great Kenny Dalglish insists fans must stay patient with Neil Lennon's Parkhead successor - because they may not immediately taste success.
Lennon departed the club on Wednesday morning and has been replaced on an interim basis by former assistant John Kennedy.
However he has shied away from talk of taking the job permanently and supporters are anxiously expecting a high-profile appointment to ease the pain of missing out on 10 In A Row - which will be confirmed if rivals Rangers accrue seven more points.
Dalglish notes that it took them three seasons to become a team capable of winning the Premiership title and insists that must act as a lesson to those across the city to remain patient with whoever comes in.
He wrote in his Sunday Post column: "The new gaffer, and director of football, will not have a magic wand. There will be work to do on the current squad, including what happens to skipper, Scott Brown.

"They are also coming in at a period when Rangers have quite a start on them. Steven Gerrard has been building something at Rangers for nearly three years.

"It took him and his staff time to get it to where they are now, on the verge of winning the league title for the first time in a decade.

"So, taking all of this into account, there will need to be patience and understanding shown by the Celtic supporters for the new people in the boardroom, technical area and out on the pitch.
"Success may well not happen immediately. People may well need to be prepared for that. But there is a better chance of winning games and silverware if everyone is pulling in the same direction.
"At all levels, Rangers were patient with Steven and he has rewarded the club with a domestic title on the horizon and even more success on the European front."

A new director of football to work alongside the manager has also been promised.
And Liverpool icon Dalglish has been both in Glasgow's east end.
He arrived as the oversight to John Barnes in that ill-fated season, being forced to step into the dugout when things went south and Inverness shocked the entirety of Scottish football at Parkhead.
Dalglish believes there's many different models Celtic could follow - but what matters is that there are clear boundaries and responsibilities between the two roles.
He continued: "One of the key elements as to how Celtic get on will be on how the relationship with the director of football and the manager works.

"For a start, which role will be put in place first? I’ve been a manager and I’ve been a director of football.
"There is no right or wrong way. Do you prefer a nice piece of fish or a nice cut of steak?
"It really comes down to the individual club and the way they see the model and order of appointments working best for them.
"But what shouldn’t be up for debate is that the lines of both roles must be clearly defined so that everybody knows where they stand from the off.
"If there are any grey areas, then it may lead to fall out further down the line. Celtic do not need self-inflicted turbulence next season.
"So the Celtic hierarchy need to be very careful, and precise, in how they handle these massive appointments."

Let's be honest, they will not accept finishing 2nd under any circumstances. They are comforting themselves with the ridiculous notion that we've only won the title this season due to Covid. They laughably still believe they have better players than us. They console themselves by saying we've got lucky in Europe.

It's a perfect storm for us tbh. We just keep ploughing away and let them eat themselves alive. Their new manager is under huge pressure before a ball has even been kicked.

I imagine the other clubs will be weekend in the summer. Less chances of dropping points.

They will be selling any assests they have.

The 4 games against them next season are going to be massive.

Pretty much sums up what my input was going to be as well.

No new filth manager will survive next season if they don’t win the league.

They are already convincing themselves that this is a one off for us due to Covid, and they will be back winning consecutive titles again as of next season.

They simply cannot comprehend the idea of us being successful long term again as in their wee fantasy world we are meant to be dead.

For that reason alone there is no way they will give any manager a couple of seasons to build up at the expense of us winning more titles.

Come the summer they have a rebuild job that looks like it will take 2/3 years to accomplish. They have to totally revamp how their club is run from top to bottom. Boardroom revamp, A new manager, new coaching and scouting staff. That alone will take time and money, then you throw in them needing atleast 8-12 players to cope with players leaving and loans ending. Looking at they will need a GK, 2 RBs, 2/3 CBs, LB, CM, RW, LW, 2 STs and that's before guys like McGregor maybe wanting a new challenge.

That is a ridiculous rebuild and I'd be very surprised if they can accomplish that in one or two windows.

So many of them are talking about how we‘re fluking one title, and celtic will just run away with it again next season without breaking a sweat. This season is a freak and it will go back to being as easy as it was from 2012-2020. Remember when we got promoted back to the top league, they were saying how we were ’going straight back down again’ the following season?

Just like this season, when they underestimated us, they never ever ever seem to learn.

Now they may very well win the league next season. But as it stands, we’ll be starting it as favorites.

They’ve nothing left to play for now that the holy grail of TIAR is gone so I’d echo Dalglish’s comments and urge patience.

Take your time and build slowly, Declan.

Very slowly.

Rebuilds are tough. We know that from experience. They need to get the DoF, coaching staff and player recruitment all spot on this summer. Their new Chief Exec needs to get a lot of things right in his first year in the role. It's a big ask. They are expecting a return to normal service next season. They believe that we've fluked our way to the title and that a lack of fans has aided us.

We need to build on our title win. Champions League qualification is crucial for us to completely surpass them in the here and now. Not just long term. It's key from both a strengthening of position and maintaining the current squad as much as possible. We will likely sell 1 or 2 key assets this summer. Our succession planning is currently better than theirs and I have faith that we will recruit well this summer. It's not time to rest on our laurels.

Big summer coming up for both clubs, for wildly different reasons. For me, we have to carry on building the club up, all of the noises coming out of the club points to that being the intention but it's pivitol we keep progressing. The 55th title shouldn't be the finish line, it's the start of something bigger. We should carry on using Europe as a barometer for our success. That's where they failed. They failed to take advantage of Europe to further themselves, especially in the latter years of their 9iar. So we need to learn from that. Look across the continent and at clubs of our stature in Leagues of similar strength, they all look to incrementally improve on the European stage. League domination usually follows after that.

FFS let’s just enjoy one for now Kenny my man! This is the biggest and most significant title of my lifetime supporting Rangers. I’ll enjoy this one as I’m sure we all will and then take it from there!!!

It might only have been two Kenny but for the chuckies getting it gifted last year

at last someone mentions in the media, what happens if the mentally challengeds new setup doesnt work from the off. Will they stick with it?
If it doesn’t work ? They’ll protest , tie up scabby bedsheets threatening to shoot the Directors, attack their own team bus and the police.....and get away with it

Not known for their patience. Throwing barriers when they had only lost two games all season hardly points to giving the new team time. The polis better have a good supply of mentally challenged barriers stored at London rd nick just in case.

My tuppence worth

they have a rugby guy taking over

they need a director of football or head of recruitment

how will he know who’s talking pish or is a guy of genuine quality?

how will he know the manager is what they need?

I can see a Pedro type appointment

They've got to get someone who is sellick minded so either a former player or someone from the ROI .
I can't think of anyone other then Scott Broon lol or Damien Duff.
