Glentoran

As someone who follows the Glens from afar this is shameful, This and the signing of Republicans abs a paedophille has finished me. I knew some great loyalists Glens men who are of the same opinion. Sad day really all round.
How do you think the glens would have got on this season without the republicans and aforementioned peado ?

Used to have a soft spot for the Glens but they appear to have lost their values.

I know a Glens fan who would be spinning in his grave at what they've become.

Have they come out and said why there was no minutes silence?
They put out a statement saying that the flags from Friday past will be at half mast till after the funeral and that they have written to the Queens rep in Belfast expressing their sympathy. It is too little too late as they did not mention a minutes silence.

Have a look on Liverpool’s Twitter page where they announced flying flags at half mast for the duke of Edinburgh, another shower of disrespectful scum

Same here mate. Have enjoyed numerous trips over to watch Glentoran over the last 25 years.
Never again. Their shameful actions will be long remembered.

Who owns the club? Is it a board or one individual?
Can anyone confirm who actually made the decision?

I also don't know much about football in Northern Ireland but it wouldn't matter, a minute's silence there or anywhere is held for respect.

It wasn't much to ask.

Now Glentoran will always be remembered for the disrespect they showed.

A lot of Liverpool fans in general are mongs. Scouse not English, Trent dropped from England upsets them though. Another fan base with a chip in there shoulder who conveniently forget the Italian fans they killed. I used to like Liverpool but starting to do my head in & im hungover so want to moan

few glens fans in our Rangers club .wonder what they think .
i know they were far from happy with them signing the convicted peado and the presence of a bog side republican in the team .
they,as a club have lost their morals .can't see too many off their fan base being happy atm .
coleraine play them back to back this week tues and fri .2 severe thumpings required

I’m a Glentoran fan. Utterly disgusted with yesterday. Shameful.
Is this another egotistical demonstration by the 1 man wrecking ball Mick McDermott?
Or is it driven by the hate filled Republican players that now dominate the team?

I can't believe the GSCs have lay back and did nothing over the 2 years with every radical "Look at me" decision Mental Mick has persued

All of what you say has in no way got anything to do with the respect shown by the club in the passing of Prince Phillip though.

They might be getting the benefit of having no fans atm and in turn no dissent from the terraces.
might still have no fans next year if the club keep on their present track .

He wasn’t meaning the club, he was talking about their fans
Where has he mentioned the fans? The club flew flags at half mast as well as respecting the silence, nothing in his post mentions the fans. The post only refers to the club

Fair enough, I clicked on meaning fans as I seen the replies to the tweet in fairness

He asked us to have a look at Liverpools twitter page when they announced flying flags at half mast. Most of us understood that he was meaning the comments were from disrespecting scum.

BeleTele story

I’ve seen other ex-Glentoran players not happy on social media too. Hard to fathom what on Earth they were thinking.

As for fans, you get balloons everywhere. I saw some Rangers fans refer to The Queen as “Lizzie” yesterday. Seriously?

The Glens are owned by some Iranian guy who has pumped thousands into them. In his country, supporting terrorists and having sex with minors is not so much illegal as compulsory. Whether he had any say in the disgusting action (or lack of) I don't know.
As for all those angry Glenmen, why don't they complain to all those Alliance party councillors and Assembly members they vote for. They'll go running to their pals in Sinn Fein and get it sorted.

Warrenpoint didn’t have one either, but they aren’t exactly a ‘Protestant’ club and dont have their main fanbase in East Belfast. Infact they have hardly any fans.

Isn’t Mick McDermott a catholic? He must have a huge influence at the club.

Signing a convicted sex offender
Signing said convicted sex offenders tranny escort brother.
Signing the outwardly pro-IRA McClean.
And now the events yesterday. A worrying slide for such a powerful club.

Glentoran are an institution in East Belfast but have lost their identity and sold their soul to an Iranian for a few pieces of silver. They have a manager who can't keep quiet and who usually can be relied upon to spout nonsense. They are now supposedly a full time club and have enough players to field 3 teams. They should be bossing the league and aren't, those great days with true Glen men playing for the club they love are gone. Once the owner tires of his little project it will be difficult to see who else will want to take it on. I can see a large Tesco being built on the Oval when he sells up. Their lack of respect for the death of the Duke of Edinburgh comes as no surprise.

I’m a Glenman and I don’t know anyone who supports yesterday’s foolish decision. Another thread on this was chopped but I said there that East Belfast was hit hard by the Nazis and the Oval had a bomb dropped on it. The Duke served his country against Hitler and deserves our respect. Also the fans have no say over transfer policy so the comments about the Republicans in the squad and the convicted paedo can’t be blamed on us. Should we walk away because the current regime aren’t fit for purpose? Should we boo players because we don’t like their politics? Should we insist that only staunch and true players can play for the Glens or indeed Rangers? I have two teams, the Glens and Rangers. I hope both will be there long after boardroom regimes come and go. Finally as a proud East Belfast man I say, may her majesty know God’s comfort as she mourns her husband. She is loved in the East and we remember her.

It isn’t difficult to understand what he meant
