Mike Mulraney defeated in FIFA vice president ballot

Liewells fat enforcer.

Just shows you can be overwhelmingly under qualified for any job and enough boot licking and doing your masters bidding and you’ll get just about anywhere you want to be.**

**without friends or the respect of your family and the footballing world for being such a rubberspined brown nose.

every branch on the way down

200k salary for this post, that is some salary for an executive position where Mulraney would never be considered in the real world of business.
Seems to be the lesser of 2 evils and pleasing Mulraney has been seen thru, came across this interesting blog on Martin though
Interesting!!!

This Martin seems to have all the qualities to do very well with FIFA.

How in the name of God can someone like Mulreaney be mentioned in the same breath as FIFA and Vice Chairman? He runs Alloa for fucksake. ALLOA! It’s not like they are heavyweights here, is it? You wouldn’t have the boss of Crawley Town run the EFL or UEFA would you? How these people get into these positions I’ll never know.

Glad he got pumped anyway, the cardboard gangster scumbag.
Harry Cavan was FIFA vice president for decades and he was chairman of Ards FC.

I do understand that the four nations get 1 vice presidency to fight amongst themselves to get. My problem with the smaller clubs and those who run them is that they don’t contribute a great deal to the greater picture of the game. Yes they are clubs who have fans and meaning to those fans, but in the big picture they don’t do a great deal for the game.

Guys like this scumbag Mulreaney shouldn’t be anywhere near a high ranking position in fifa. Nowhere near it.

It also shows that when you are out of your comfort zone, and all your cohorts can't help to squeeze the vote to help you out, that people with open minds will not elect a lickspittle into a position ,just because of the tribe he runs with. It's nice to hear of a free vote for a change, and of someone getting a job that he has earned, and not because of who his friends are.

David Martin defeats him in vote for FIFA vice president.

I'm astounded he was even in the running for this.

Martin got 48 out of 55 votes.

Edit* should have added I'm sure David Martin is the IFA president.
Good news for us as he is dangerous!

What ever else you think of Mulraney (and I have plenty of thoughts) he has been pretty successful in business

Out of interest, what sort of business is he in?
Anyone confirm?
He has a range of businesses (He's got over 50 directors appointments) many of which are small or holding companies - he spreads his interests. Many in property or property services, or equipment hire. For a long time he still worked as leisure Centre manager!

Thanks.

I assume that all those voting were from the home nations, Can anyone confirm this, and if the seven who voted for Mickey were all from Scotland? Would be interesting to know who they were.

sorry, just saw the post above but my original question still stands.

Leisure Centre manager was a real outlier .

Absolutely astonishes me that some fucking clown from Alloa is involved at these levels of the game.
You’re not wrong, look at the state of the footballing boards, for a start hardly anyone is represented and there are far too many part time daddy teams represented but the biggest problem is how some clubs actually are vastly overrepresented.

There are three teams represented at both league and association level, Alloa, Celtic and fuckin Hamilton Accies.

There are 12 places in total across both boards which are filled by representatives of clubs and Celtic Hamilton and Alloa have got exactly 50% of them. Even objectively speaking how in fck is that fair on the 32 teams? Surely 12 separate teams should take the 12 roles on a rolling basis

SPFL BOARD
Steve Brown (St Johnstone)
Les Gray (Hamilton Academical)
Peter Lawwell (Celtic).
Ewen Cameron (Alloa Athletic)
Ross McArthur (Dunfermline Athletic)
Ken Ferguson (Brechin City).

SFA GAMING BOARD

Chairman Rob Petrie (Hibs)
Chair: Michael Mulraney (Alloa)

Ian Maxwell (Scottish FA), Neil Doncaster (SPFL), Finlay Noble (SHFL) Tom Brown (SLFL).

Leslie Gray (Hamilton),
Michael Nicholson (Celtic),
Ken Ferguson (Brechin),
Duncan Fraser (Aberdeen),

55 you say. Taking the piss right out of it now.

Not a great few days for Mulraney. Humiliated in the FIFA vote. Alloa relegated on Saturday but the biggest blow was his favourite team getting knocked out of the cup on Sunday.

That board is literally the reason football in this country is in the gutter. Alloa, Brechin City, Hamilton? Tinpot clubs running the game. Madness.

The guy and his club should be taken to task on their employment policy. Look at the names from their board, to the manager and assistant (look at their managers for the last 10 years) to the physio to the kit-man to the players.

How can it be that the make up of that tinpot club is massively over represented by a certain religion, allegedly?

Ken Ferguson has stepped down from the SPFL board.

Peter Lawwell will step down from SPFL board now that he’s leaving Celtic and it’s coming to the end of the season anyway so he would’ve have been away then.

League 1 and 2 only have one representative at board level and now that Alloa have been relegated to League 1, they’ll hopefully lose that representation.

Hopefully we see a shift to impartiality at board level. Rangers as a club should be looking to have a rep on both boards.
