Been having a think at who we could bring in if Morelos does actually go. Should we go for a similar sort of striker, more of a focal point and a target man or go for a technical and versatile striker so the interchanging front three can thrive?

I'd definitely rather someone on the younger side as well that we can develop into a profit. Someone like Danilo, Joveljic, Broja, Ugbo, Cabral.

Much could still change, but this breathless clamour for signings just reminds me too much of the Murray era. It's not even excitement from some, it is desperation it reads like.

I am still buzzing for what Gerrard, Wilson and the board are going to do. But if we can't afford Veerman for example, I am absolutely fine with that.

The thread is just getting bitter and twisted by folk still stuck in the Ibrox Casino mindset.

Take into consideration the players we already have will be improved further by the coaching team. They have a years experience under their belt also. And when you consider players natural improvement even if we didn't sign anybody we would probably be a little better this season than we where last if we kept the same sqaud.

So there is no need for wholesale changes Gerrard has said he wants qaukity over quantity. I trust the gaffer when it comes to what be sees as acceptable in the sqaud moving to the next stage, if hes happy im happy.

I think we'll replace him with a striker called Sakala.

Numbers wise, we are set up front with Roofe, Itten, Sakala, Kent, Hagi, Wright. If we add quality, that's great. If not, I'm quite happy with that line up. Hopefully Roofe can stay injury free and Itten can progress this year.
 
The Alfie " is he staying or is he going " is becoming an annual circus and side show we don't need when we have such important games coming up.
Personally I love the guy but we know his ambitions lie elsewhere so best get what we can and focus on upcoming schedule.
 
While we all want more quality added, it must be bloody hard prioritizing the spend.
Hope we now know for sure who is staying and going so we can plan/spend accordingly.

If Alfie was to go....I'd imagine our signing priorities change. Must be murder to plan.

It's not about replacing him to keep the numbers though, it's about replacing the %^*& tonnes of goals, assists and overall play he brings to the team.

I really wanted Barker to make it with us, but if he leaves then I hope he finds a home and a manager that can channel that talent.

I wonder if his confidence could be tied to his hair?. Putting himself out there in front of strangers everytime he plays must be hard for the lad if he's self conscious about his departing locks and his attempted cover up.

Whipping it all off Zidane style might release him.

I think when you see the fees for the likes of Wilson and Ajer, not only do we need to be bullish on the valuations of our top talent, we have to marvel at the recruitment - and not just the frees / end of contract likes of Kamara, Aribo and Sakala - getting in players like Goldson, Barisic, Kent, Roofe, etc, for the money we paid is excellent business.
 
Harry Wilson would have been a cracking buy if we had went after him but since he’s went to Fulham he’s pish. Him and Kent on the wings would have been a good combination for us

No, no… a judiciously placed syrup would do the trick and I’m sure no one would notice, or if they did, even mention it.
Alternatively there are the less attractive options of shaving off the lot ( some argue the hirsute look has had its day ) , or a Ronald De Boer / Kris Boyd re-thatch job.

Veerman is young enough to have 2 or 3 seasons here and potentially leave a machine of a midfielder.

Would really all come down to if he fancied it and adding a physicality to his game was something he recognised as required or needed.

I feel this is overly dramatic

Football teams are always multitasking. Selling players, buying players, preparing for major games.

This is normal in any football team with any decent players.

A lot of this "drama" is just paper talk and fans with nothing else to concentrate on.

Notice the club just added a picture of Goldson on Instagram just with words Goldson, then a second of him celebrating the title with Tav.

Am a reading too much into it or is something about to be announced with his contract?

Having watched a couple of Oestende games after signing Sakala, and watching his Youtube clips over and over, Im predicting this boy is going to be a star with us.

If Morelos goes I wouldnt be concerned about a direct replacement. I think Sakala Jr can fill that role and more.

I think he will be a good signing too but he has literally never played as a lone 9 before.

A big pacy battering ram I like Shamar Nicholson who plays in Belgium sure he's been staring for Jamacia in the tournament they have been playing in

Dont know many of the names you listed, but agree with your thought process. We do need someone whos comfortable dropping deep, as well as, holding the ball up and occupying a defense. Dont mean to sound like an Morelos fan boy, but he does do an awful lot for the team.

We could tweak the system though. Maybe go with a 2 up top and Kent in the free role. We utilised that well against Celtic and it caused them carnage. In that case i think we could get away with a more traditional 9 and get Roofe to provide that movement. It will be interesting to see how we go, but id try to replace Alfie as close to like for like, as possible so we have options.

Bruce Willis had a career resurgence after accepting he had to just go bald, so it would probably help him - along with a move to League One.
 
Remember also that Alfie makes some poor passes look good. He chases, brings under control and has us up the field. He doesn't need pinpoint accuracy to make it work which is HUGE in terms of providing an "out ball"....

Joveljic would be wonderful but may be out of our budget.

Poster on another thread says Alfie's Mrs has an Insta story with herself at the airport. Hopefully a sign they are en route back to Glasgow.

Daily Record apparently have a story about Edmundson signing a 3 year deal with an unnamed club.
