Even ignoring the stupidity of the comment, the "should have taken millions" line probably stands our more re his naivety and views of football.
The vast majority of the better players to have washed through Scotland in recent years haven't cost "millions" even when Celtic were at their best it was predominantly built on smart scouting.
"millions" has tended to lead to shambles in recent years.

We’re not an elite team, but last season we were in the level below the elite, what I’d call an excellent side. That’s what the evidence suggests.

Perhaps, just perhaps I could accept Rangers being called mediocre if we only just won the title by a point or two, with a record low points total. However nothing could be further from the truth: we went through a whole season undefeated, with a club record number of points whilst conceding a record low of 13 goals.Keep telling yourself that Pedro.

Set new records for fewest goals conceded and clean sheets. We were 2 last kick of the ball equalisers from Hamilton and St Johnstone away from equaling the points record as well. Reached last 16 of the Europa League, winning a group with Benfica in it.
Can add Tam McManus to that list as well probably why he's a regular with Rough and Martin.
