£8k fine for the Covid Teams

Aberdeen and Celtic have both been fined £30,000 by the SPFL after players from both clubs breached Covid-19 rules.

Eight Aberdeen players visited a city centre bar, where two contracted the virus, leading to the postponement of three of their Scottish Premiership matches.

Celtic had two games delayed when Boli Bolingoli made an unsanctioned trip to Spain, and played against Kilmarnock on 4 August without entering quarantine.

The clubs are required to pay £8,000 to the SPFL Trust now, with the rest suspended pending no further breaches before the end of the season.

Surely this sets a precedent now - if other teams break the rules then a paltry fine is all they can expect? Obviously that won't apply to Rangers who will be deducted points and demoted instantly upon any Covid breach!
SPFL = mentally challenged placemen!

A guy broke the law to earn Celtic points

Scandalous

And Kilmarnock. Why did you say nothing ?

And they waited until Celtic were ahead on points per game to do this.

It’s the equivalent of getting 100 lines when we were at school..
They’re playing a dangerous game as this means if another club or player break the rules (hopefully not) £8k is the going rate for the punishment.

Thats another farce added to our game. These begging c.unts can do what they like cant they? The punishment should of been- cant play your fixtures because your player/players caused the postponed fixture- 3 nil defeat and a hefty fine. FFS this is not even punishment but i bet the media spin it as? Fucking farce.

Embarrassing

So it's an £8000 fine really. Sheep players out for a drink after a game in a legal pub allowed to open by snp gov. No law broken was there?
A celtic player leaving the country, returning, not declaring himself for covid testing or going into isolation. Probably looking to sign for another club with the full knowledge and permission from his club.Umpteen rules broken. Same punishment. No wonder we don't trust the scotshit football cabal.
Corrupt scum one and all

Meanwhile....

"Scottish football's governing body slapped the Gers with two separate fines for two separate incidents at Easter Road on December 20 and Celtic Park on December 29.

Disciplinary rule 204 was breached by the Ibrox outfit whereby they failed to have team staff, players and club employees behave themselves in an orderly fashion.

At Hibs, Rangers technical coach Tom Culshaw clashed with John Potter and was handed a two-game ban. It was sparked by a foul on Borna Barisic by Hibs defender Ryan Porteous.

At Parkhead, Michael Beale branded referee Kevin Clancy a "cheat" and appeared to be embroiled in a bust-up with home coach John Kennedy - an issue the Gers man has since cleared up.

For the Hibs incident, Rangers were slapped with a £5,000 fine, with £2,000 suspended until the end of this season and £3,000 to be paid immediately.

The Celtic clash, meanwhile, saw them given a £10,000 fine with £3,000 of that suspended until the end of the campaign and £7,000 to be paid immediately."

That's £15k, with 5k suspended. So £10k in fines for telling the truth on top of the individuals receiving seperate punishments. Scottish football integrity.

Yes, as you say, very different circumstances. The bheasts, as ever, are being protected.

Going against the grain here, think the players should be the ones fined, don't see how clubs can be held responsible for the actions of players in their own time and let's be honest here, had one of our own players broke covid rules and the SFA fined Rangers that amount people would be questioning why the club was being punished.

Being protected by their own rule makers. We all know what happens behind doors at saville row or hampden wherever they make up the rules.celtic friendly rules.

£8,000 fine each, so £16k which will presumably go into the prize pot.

The winners of the SPFL will get 13.4% - £2,144.
Second place in the SPFL will get 9.6% - £1,536.

Don't see the Tims finishing worse than 2nd, so the £30k fine drops to a maximum of £6,464 or down to £5,856 if they win the league.

What a joke.

To give both teams the same fine is laughable in itself.
The Aberdeen boys were just stupid but the Celtic player genuinely put lives at risk.

Kilmarnock's silence on this is both baffling and sinister. You would have thought they would have been shouting from the rooftops to be awarded the points. Yet their joke of a manager has all the sympathy in the world for the mentally challengeds.

All round the Bheasts gained a massive advantage from their actions as another poster pointed out
Strengthened their own squad in time for rescheduled match
Opposition weakened due to Covid19

So, its clear that for an £8K fine you SHOULD play the Covid19 game should a match come at the wrong time for you
And then for a £22K fine you'd probably be well worth playing the Covid19 game a second time should circumstances for an upcoming game not suit you

That is one more decision why the game up here is a bogey the Celtic player sticks two fingers up at the rules clearly 8 Aberdeen players out for a jolly knowing it’s wrong . The kangaroo court slap there wrists don’t do it again a bloody joke , Lets wait and see what action this lot take should anyone step out of line .

The next breach by any club should therefore carry a maximium penalty of £30,000 (if this is treated as a warning to all clubs). Having said that it wouldn't be surprising if the football authorities ignore even their own set precedents.
