Inter... Wtf are you doing

Shakes head slowly and then sighs. :(

Round 30 this weekend and 3 games today. Truth be told, probably not the most glamorous fixtures today but we've seen a good few times this season where the "lesser" games have produced some great entertainment.

Spezia host Crotone in the 2pm kick-off. The home side currently sitting in 16th, 5 ahead of Torino and 7 above the relegation zone as it stands. Whilst it's unlikely they'll be in real danger of going down, the win will alleviate any fears. Crotone? They have as much chance a survival as I do picking a Grand National winner quite frankly.

Parma host Milan in the 5pm game. Parma looking to get out the relegation zone with a win. If they do so then Inter can start loading up on the champagne and other party gear (if they haven't already been doing so).

The evening game between Udinese and Torino is an interesting one. The home side have been sitting comfortably in mid-table and unlike tonight's opponents, are in no danger of going down. Torino currently sit in 17th place, a mere 2 points above the relegation zone. A loss tonight and a win for Parma can really drag them into a battle at the bottom.

Spezia v Crotone 2pm
Parma v Milan 5pm
Udinese v Torino 7.45pm

Come on Parma! :)

Simy makes it 2-1 Crotone in the 86th minute, he’s having a cracking season.

Spezia score two in the last minute to win :))

Waiting on Milan for £140 and that big bastard gets sent off, Milan concede.

2-1, this will be a long 15 mins.

Wins yesterday for Spezia, Milan and Torino then. Torino's victory giving them breathing space from relegation ahead of today's games.

As it happens, relegation rivals Cagliari travel to incoming champions Inter today in the lunchtime game. The home side looking to restore the 11-point gap and bring that Scudetto ever-closer. On the flip side, an unlikely win for the away side brings them back to within 2 points from safety.

As for the rest of the day, well it's all about the European places to be honest. Of the 2pm games, Juventus will host Genoa with the Bianconeri looking to close in on 2nd place Milan and consolidate a CL spot. At the same time 5th place Napoli and 6th place Lazio travel to Sampdoria and Verona respectively. Napoli looking to break into the CL spots, at least briefly, whilst Lazio would keep them on course for securing at least a Europa league spot.

In the 5pm game, their city rivals Roma will host Bologna. The home side looking to keep on the coat-tails of the top 6 whilst Bologna are all about keeping themselves mid-table now.

The late game sees an intriguing fixture between 15th place Fiorentina and 4th place Atalanta. La Viola are not completely out of trouble just yet so a win would be a help in guaranteed safety. An away win would see the boys for Bergamo looking good for a return to the CL next season.

Today's games in full;

Inter v Cagliari 11.30am
Juventus v Genoa 2pm
Sampdoria v Napoli 2pm
Verona v Lazio 2pm
Roma v Bologna 5pm
Fiorentina v Atalanta 7.45pm

This Roma game would get football stopped

The pace it is being played at is embarrassing

I believe they will meet Man Utd in the next round of the EL

Would not surprise me to see united score 3 in Rome relatively easy

Roma 1-0 Bologna FT

Juve 3-1 Genoa
Sampdoria 0-2 Napoli
Verona 0-1 Lazio
Inter 1-0 Cagliari

Napoli are briefly into the CL places but it is pretty much a case of "as you were" thus far.

So, Atalanta win a rather dull game in Florence by 3-2 and take back 4th place from Napoli to round off yesterday's fixtures.

Tonight sees Benevento host Sassuolo in the final game of this round. Benevento may be in 16th but looking fairly safe from any relegation troubles. Sassualo can pretty much start planning their summer holidays (well, if they were allowed to go anywhere). They are sitting fairly comfortably mid-table with no realistic threat of relegation nor any potential European football next season. A win tonight would put them above Verona and into 8th place.

Matchday 31 is fast approaching and this weekend's fixtures are, on paper, a mixed bag truth be told.

Saturday will see 4 games played. Crotone will host Udinese in a game that can only really be described as having pride on the line. The hosts are gone and have been for a while the visitors are simply on the look out to finish as high as they can. The other afternoon game sees Sampdoria host Verona. Separated by 5 points, the 10th placed hosts will look to gain some ground on their 9th placed visitors.

The early evening game has Sassualo playing at home to Fiorentina. Sassualo won 1-0 away at Benevento last Monday (sorry, I meant to update that one) and are simply coasting to the end of the season now. La Viola sit in 15th but now look to be safe from any relegation threat now.

The late game on Saturday is an interesting one as it is a good old 6-pointer at the bottom. Cagliari face Parma and whilst both are nella merda grande, a win for Gli Isolani would surely all but doom their northern opponents to Serie B and give themselves a (kind of) fighting chance in the process. Conversely, a Parma win keeps them alive for another few weeks at least.

Saturday's fixtures;

Crotone v Udinese 2pm
Sampdoria v Verona 2pm
Sassualo v Fiorentina 5pm
Cagliari v Parma 7.45pm

Onto Sunday, and whilst matters for everyone on this board will be elsewhere - there will be 6 games going on throughout the day.

Getting us started in the early kick-off is Milan welcoming Genoa to the San Siro. It is now simply a case of Milan looking to consolidate 2nd spot whilst Genoa sit in 13th at the start of play.

Of the afternoon games, Atalanta v Juventus is the stand-out fixture. A single point separates the two sides before kick-off and a win either way will go a long way to securing a CL spot. At the same time Lazio will host Benevento and Spezia will travel to Bologna. Lazio will be looking to confirm at least some Europa League football by the season's end whilst only 2 points separate the sides in the latter game.

Early evening sees Torino hosting Roma. Torino would like a win to give them some breathing space between them and the relegation zone - especially Cagliari facing Parma on Saturday. A win for the Giallorosso would be handy for keeping on the tails of city rivals Lazio and those Europa League spots.

In the late game, well it's a big one. Napoli host champions-elect Inter. The Bianconeri on the hunt for 3 more point in their march towards the title but Napoli have the CL places in their sights and with Atalanta facing Juve earlier in the day, it could be a chance for the Neopolitans to gain some ground/ perhaps even break into the top-4 with a win. However, recent history isn't on their side as Napoli's last league win over Inter was in May 2019 when they won 4-1.

Sunday's games;

Milan v Genoa 11.30am
Atalanta v Juventus 2pm
Bologna v Spezia 2pm
Lazio v Benevento 2pm
Torino v Roma 5pm
Napoli v Inter 7.45pm

*I'm sure these will all be good games but I'll be on it and in all likelihood not be in any fit state to provide accurate updates. B-D :shh:

None of the games stand out, Fiorentina game stands out right enough (due to my love of Vlahovic).

It also feels like Sassuolo have been missing about 10 players every game.

Crotone 1-2 Udinese. No real surprises there.

Sampdoria 3-1 Verona. Samp come from a goal down to close the gap on their opponents to 2 points.
