I know Hamburg are playing tonight so planned to watch it and hoped it would be on BT. However, having a look at the various sites that show which channels are showing specific games, I see no UK tv channels are covering this, or any other, German games.

Anybody know if this is likely to change?

We were discussing it in the Bundesliga thread, BT deal has ended and it seems a new contract his been signed (see below) - but I’m not sure if that covers the UK or is even accurate.

It’s rumoured Sky are picking up the Bundesliga coverage, but again, does that cover B2 or is it even accurate?.

A bit late in the day for this to be honest.

Oh ffs. I got Virgin with BT Sports a fortnight before the season ended - at this rate I'll be paying to watch CL & EL only

I remember their used to be a Bundesliga highlights show on ITV4. Is that still going?

Sky and bt used to be excellent excellent a few years ago, they both had everything, Scottish, English, Spanish, Italian, German and French.

Seems to me theyre getting rid of it all to focus on English football.

Are BT winding down there sports channel?

Only really have the European games now.

Not really worth the money.
They also have 52 EPL games & Ligue 1

But they aren't showing Scottish Football, FA Cup or Bundesliga now

Serie A they lost a couple back but those rights are up for grabs again

But they also announced the other day they extended the WRC deal until 2024 so they are still picking up something

Another year of La Liga TV is left I think so Premier or the standalone channel again.

BT are showing Ligue 1 again.

Nothing confirmed for Serie A or Bundesliga yet. Premier have no mention of Serie A at all which would make me think the contract has ended.

BT are trying to sell off the channel as they don't make much of any profit from it. ESPN, DAZN, ITV and Rupert Murdoch have all looked at it and decided against it.

They still have some EPL along with CL, EL and ECL rights. That's what drives subscribers. Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are nice to have, but they don't drive subscriptions in the UK. Other places like Eleven Sports tried and failed given the cost. Those places will find a channel but they need to lower their fees.

Will keep premier for the rare occasion I want to watch a La Liga game, I hadn’t realised they weren’t showing Serie A this season till recently - balls.

They still might mate. I reckon they would be taking the Serie A rights around Amazon, Sky, BT etc looking a better deal. If they can’t get that I would expect Premier to step in on the cheap as they do.

Serie A contract ended last season as per the rights cycle

Wouldnt be surprised to see Premier pick up some rights on the cheap too. Portugal, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands etc.
Hopefully, they showed some Dutch and Portuguese games last season but can’t recall how frequent they were.

Hope they do, I don’t even mind the fact Premier don’t have pundits or what not - it is what it is, a cheapish, low production channel.

As long as they show football, I’m happy.

Aye was a decent selection on Freesports too.

One to watch out for is DAZN too. Took over Eddie Hearns Matchroom Sky Boxing deal and will be looking cheapish content to justify a price rise. (Currently £1.99 a month)

Freesports (Premier owned) showed the Portuguese league for a while before Livescore app took over part of the deal late last season

Poland was shown for a time as well as was Dutch League on Premier I think again it went to Livescore app for the Dutch League

Yeah mate, I’ve got Dazn for the boxing - I suspect their rates will go up drastically at some point to match their output.

Gutting. I watched Dortmund a few times last year as well as the odd random Sunday game.

I used my Grandas login so am I shite paying for any new channels, unless Amazon swoop in.

What’s annoying is that all the broadcasters still have at least one competition related to Rangers or something I like watching.

not willing to ditch any of them, despite it all costing me an arm and a leg each month

Think one of the sticking points for a deal for Bundesliga in the UK is that the games are played at the same time as games in the UK. 3.00pm black out will rule out the 2.30pm Bundesliga games. The other main broadcast times of 5.30pm Saturday and 4.30pm Sunday clash with EPL games. Can't see broadcasters paying too much for rights to go up against EPL matches.

Is the blackout rule still going to exist even under a return to normality ?

My own thoughts were that Covid would have changed things forever.

Saying that it looks like there are 5 prem games at 3pm on the Saturday, which surprises me. I thought the broadcasters would want to continue with staggering the games as much as possible

That is also going to be an issue if the blackout applies

Hasn't stopped deals been done in the past - in fact La Liga moved 5pm game to 5.15pm to accommodate that at one point

Scheduling of the games are down to the League in each country

Not sure if Sky will pick this up tbh. They seem to be focusing on the stuff that sells to the British audience and I suspect the audience for foreign football in the UK is significantly less than even the SPFL.

Been talk of every Serie A match being played at a different time to ease the burden on DAZN apparently. First two match days do have some at same time though.

Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 having no Monday night matches this season will have made it less appealing as well. Pretty sure Bundesliga 2 has no midweek matches all season as well and Bundesliga has less than the last few seasons.

It is reverts back to the normal paid contract now for the EPL

200 live games from Sky, BT Sport and Amazon Prime and live game timeslots are based on those deals

While the blackout may not apply the 3pm games won't be shown live as Sky have the rights for delayed transmission of those games or any non Saturday non live games

The best option would be for the Bundesliga to offer a subscription service online only. They'll maximise income and fans can either watch live or on demand. The NFL app/streaming service is probably the best on offer from any sport. It's fantastic. Should be the basis of all sports media streaming in the future.

I've been expecting that to be the case in Germany for a while but it's still fairly cheap. Think it was €10.99 once upon a time and now it's €14.99. They have Friday and Sunday Bundesliga games this year too.

To be honest, the service is hardcore porn if you're a sports fan. I'd happily pay €30 a month for it.

Think the blackout is coming back in for the coming season. Opening weekend of the EPL has 5 3.00pm kick offs and no UK broadcaster next to the fixtures.

In future the 3.00pm blackout might get withdrawn but wouldn't expect that until the next domestic TV deal as the current deal and the amounts paid by SKY etc. is based on the limited number of broadcast games, last season with COVID being an exceptional circumstance.

Magenta Sport that provides 3.Liga is incredible value. 10 euros a month and every match is live on it, it has a Konferenz and pre and post match for each game as well.

Has your Ice Hockey on as well I think, PENNY DEL?

I see. Essentially the casual observer of the EPL will be getting a lot less bang for their buck nos, even if it’s just a reversion to ‘normality’
