5 substitutes allowed for season 20/21

Another rule for the tims, deeper squads will just run riot with this rule. It shouldn’t be implemented but it will be.

Why do they need to be mentioned here?

This is literally world football’s lawmakers. Nothing to do with them.

And if your point was that they’ve got a deeper squad than us - if that’s true, it’s not their fault. And up to us to match it.

Won’t have much impact on us.

We don’t use them for timely or well. :)

It's a nightmare for us honestly between teams running down the clock against us, and taking it in turns to pick up yellow cards. Really hope this doesn't come to pass.

It’s ridiculous, can you imagine a team winning in the closing minutes and they still have 4 subs left? Sub after sub after sub to run the clock down.

Just leave it as it is ffs.
A game could finish after 5pm on a Saturday with all the stoppages if all subs are used, and finish at 5.30 at the Scumhut if the game is hanging in the balance

I don't mind it. Still only have three chances to make those 5 subs and it will likely give more opportunities for academy players to stake a claim in the side

I think we will make use of it to give our youth players a few minutes at the end of a game when we are winning comfortably

Should just make it like ice hockey but make sure changes are the same folk just running on and off.

Someone just charge out the dug out and 2 footer Brown from behind

I thought the whole 5 subs was due to clubs playing a lot of games in a short space of time after a period of not being able to train properly. Why are we bringing it in for a normal season.

Noticing a few people above saying they think it’ll help teams run the clock down etc.

You can still only have 3 stoppages. You can just make 5 actual changes.

You can still only make substitions 3 times unless you make one at half time

Yes you can use 5 subs but can only make a substitution 3 times in the match so there would have to be 2 double substitutions if you wanted to use all 5 subs.
TFC made a right arse if it in the MLS competition the other day. The manager subbed both centre halves together on the 65 min mark and then watched his side cough up a 2-0 lead, with the subs losing their man at both goals

Instead of extra subs the Scottish referees need to be made more accountable and their live conversations to be available for all of us to hear, it works in other codes.

Additional substitutes should be allowed if players get injured after the team has already made all three, otherwise no need for the extras
But what happens if they’ve made all 5? Should they be allowed to replace an injured player with a 6?

Stupid rule allowing this to be used by leagues. It’s half of your starting outfield players. Teams with money will benefit massively over smaller teams. Some of the smaller epl teams haven’t been able to even fill their bench since the restart.

Can't wait to see Brandon Barker come on in the 88th minute and run the ball out of play.....probably as our first sub.

Not a fan of this idea, even if there are a limited amount of times you can make the subs changing 5 players still disrupts the flow of the game.

Teams playing us will kick lumps out of us then once booked bring on 5 more to do the same
