DISCUSSION OF ILLEGAL LINKS WILL RESULT IN A BAN

I’m hoping Barry rests as many players as possible for this one. I’d actually put butland back in aswell - for the sole reason of keeping Kelly’s confidence high. Let’s be honest he had a great game on Thursday and will be buzzing this week but he hasn’t turned into Oliver Kahn by being on our bench for 6 months, the last thing we need is him dropping a clanger and loosing the confidence. Sit him on the bench with a cigar along with Raskin, Cerny, Dio, Balogun, Souttar, Dessers and preferably Tav.

This team doesn’t seem to work on the ‘keep winning to build confidence’ theory anyway.

Going for a hard fought 2/1 to us always there cup final against us , be tempted to ring the changes with thursday in mind but I can’t see Barry doing that as he badly wants a win in the league .

Can we all agree that we won’t overreact or give the team a hard time tomorrow regardless of what the result or the performance?
It would be uncalled for as most like me don't give monkeys as the league is done. That said we should always endeavour to beat these inbred mutants. With this team ....... who the fk knows.

Does the team get weakened and run the possibility of giving the title away?
Hard one. Personally the solution is somewhere in-between.

It really depends on what team Ferguson puts out. If we play what would generally be our strongest team and it's another poor result then they'll deservedly get criticism.

No. This season has been a disaster and criticism is deserved. Equally a good performance and result should be met with positive feedback, but subdued because of the disaster of our season.

Disagree with the “nothing game” and couldn’t care less attitude tomorrow. Yes it’s probably wise to rest a few players but no game for Rangers, especially against this mob, is a “nothing game”. Plenty of fans, including myself, heading up there tomorrow, spending hard earned cash to follow the team will never view this as a meaningless game. Smash them Rangers, from the first minute!

This is a nothing match and should be treated that way.
We should see a few kids and backup players playing, as many as possible to be honest. Guys like Propper who we won’t see on Thursday can also play.

My one and only concern tomorrow, if we play anyone that is a first pick for Thursday, I can see that prick Shinnie going out to try and leave one on them and we can not afford to lose anyone if this happened. I would go with the fringe players and let them have a go. At the end of the day it will be BF easiest team talk, 'Ok, go out there show me that you deserve a place on Thursday' and hopefully it will be a win - win for us. Beat the sheep and have players high on confidence going into Thursday's game.

Naw! :)

Seriously. I want to see a shadow X1. And the shadow side will still be full of players who have made many first team appearances this season.

I don't want to see any player who has a pivotal role to play on Thursday even stripped.

I still expect the referee to be a major talking point come full time.

It would perfectly encapsulate this season if the scum won the title tomorrow because we couldn't get it done against the dross of this league.

Having said that, its at the sheep pen and especially don't like giving them the satisfaction of costing us the title.

Thursday takes precedence but the team that is put out should be under no illusions as to what they are expected to do. At the very least with Barry in the dugout I have no doubt it will be spelled out to them, even if it remains to be seen as to whether they will act on it.

“costing us the title”?
What title?
Because the league is and has been finished since October/November.

Given it will be feral up there of course you want to shut them up and beat them.

But I’ll get over it pretty quickly if we don’t.

And frankly, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

We have an alarming habit of being 1-0 down early in games, and if that happens I wouldn’t be expecting another stirring comeback.

The players don’t give a shit. They chucked in the towel a long time ago.

We ought to just enjoy the aberration that is Europe for as long as it lasts then start trying to build a team that doesnt capitulate domestically

I will watch it but I'm not expecting much tbh. The season was over months ago and a blood and snotters victory over a shite sheep team cannot mask my abject disappointment in this current Ragers team and the 2024/25 domestic season.

Hopefully see the Danilo Igamane partnership up top, I'd go
Kelly
Tav Nsiala Souttar (off after 60 mins) Jefte
Barron
Dio (off after 60) Nsio Curtis
Danilo
Igamane (off after 60 ) mi

Celtic are winning the league. Either tomorrow or in a fortnight so in the grand scheme of things tomorrow matters not a jot. The only positive of making them wait is that it'll give Glasgow City Council two weeks to plan for them preventing that mob smashing up Trongate put in holiday requests so they can join in smashing up Trongate.

Regarding us, Barry made it clear that there will be changes. Be interesting to see how far he goes but for me Tav, Souttar, Balogun, Diomande, Raskin, Cerny & Igamane don't get near the pitch tomorrow.

Hasn’t played that much and another 90 mins under his belt is never a bad thing.
Fair enough and I can see your point.

But this time last week he hadn't played much either.

Bottom line is tomorrow is Dolly's last chance of glory in another season of nothingness. I expect them to come out kicking everything in blue that moves. - You have to get the locos onside.

My bad mind maybe, but I'd include our goalkeeper in that target practice.

No one else would whip themselves into a rabid frenzy if given half a chance to hurt us before Thursday and I include Celtic & Hibs in that. I understand why those two hate us, Aberdeen are a special bunch in more ways than one. They'll be desperate to brutalise us tomorrow. They'll never need to buy another pint and it guarantees themselves legendary status for the rest of their lives.

Again, anyone deemed important for Thursday doesn't get near the pitch tomorrow.

We have bigger fish to fry, one game away from a European semi Final. On this occasion pick the team and play with Thursday in mind. The result is irrelevant to us, the most important part of tomorrow is who will be fit and injury free for Thursday. The consequences of losing tomorrow comes nowhere near how we will feel at 8pm on Thursday.

Their fans won't accept them sitting back, so should have enough to do them on the counter. I think it will be tight if I'm honest, maybe Bears to win 1-0 or 2-1. They were on an atrocious run till recently

I'm not convinced that our management team will see this game as quite as meaningless as most of the fans seem to, but time will tell.

We know Sterling is out, and Rice shouldn't be involved, but I wouldn't be shocked if it's only another few changes after that to the starting XI.

I think all of Tav, Souttar, Raskin, Diomande and Cerny will start despite their importance on Thursday, for example.

Can we all agree that we won’t overreact or give the team a hard time tomorrow regardless of what the result or the performance?
Behave!
Regardless of the lineup, if we don’t win tomorrow the knives will be out for Barry by the usual suspects, absolutely guaranteed.

I agree but I can gaurentee you that people will be sayin if wee get beat that should be the end of insert players name Rangers career B-)

Wee get beat and will be the usual meltdown. Hopefully a comfortable 3/0 win with squad players/youngsters getting a run out.

Not your bad mind, with that lot. We are only involved in one tournament. It will be a hard enough game as it is, so no risks for a game that means nothing.

Not sure how Kelly's confidence would suffer by playing him? I'd argue the opposite in fact. I'd be dissapointed if I was him if I didn't stay in the team having played so well the other night. It's also more minutes which is important to keep him sharp and it shows he can be trusted to put in the same performance and deal with results.

BF, "Just in case you're not thick skinned enough lad, I'm gonna leave you out cos I think if you had a clanger, you wouldn't deal with it well and your arse would collapse for the second leg".

He's a professional footballer. Be different to keep someone out for keeping them fit, but to 'keep their confidence up' in case of defeat/clanger is a bit daft. Plus, what happens if Butland plays a blinder? Then Kelly is most likely benched again. Doubly fu...

The priority absolutely has to be Thursday now. We should be resting Balogun, Raskin, Tav, Dessers, Cerny and Ridvan at the very least.

There’s a case for starting Souttar and Dio since they missed Thursday, Propper because he’s suspended anyway and one or both of Danilo and Igamane on the basis that they haven’t played much but might be needed on Thursday.

Wouldn’t mind seeing some of Cortes and Bajrami either but happy to see youngsters beyond that. If we get through in Bilbao on Thursday then nobody will give a solitary shit about what the result was at Pittodrie tomorrow. Would rather we win but meaningless in the grand scheme of things

I don't want to see anyone play who is the the plans to start on Thursday. It would be absolute madness to risk anyone given our injury problems. If means we lose, then so be it, give minutes to those who are lacking it Danilo, Nsiala, Bajrami, Cortes) and a chance for a couple of young players. Risking Tav, Souttar, Balogun, Ridvan, Dio, Nico or Cerny would be absolute madness. Yes we might lose on Thursday, but let's give ourselves the chance to give it the best go we possibly can. Tomorrow means nothing, and much as I don't want it, means that lot can't clinch it on the pitch. Might just take a wee edge of their staged celebrations.

Won’t get any sleep before the bus at 7.30. Don’t know why I do this to myself and sign up to work shifts in my local club before long aways.

Not really bothered about what happens or the result as long as we rest as many players as possible

All your points make sense and are rational - however this Rangers team and players don’t seem to follow normal rational! So much so that I’d actually be more confident of a win in Bilboa following a defeat today. Knowing these players if they win against Aberdeen they will not get the rocket up them and not perform as highly on Thursday! It’s a mad season with a bunch of strange players.
