Red Star crowned champions as league restarts

Yes, you read it right. They restarted the league, played the game they needed to win and will keep playing. Yet another league in a “supposed lesser country” with no massive riches from TV deals that still managed to find the will and the way to restart.

Poland mid-June is another league comparable to Scotland in terms of resources.

Compare and contrast with the SPFL and their “undue haste” to anoint the tainted 8.75

Red Star Belgrade clinched their third successive and a record-extending 31st league title with a 5-0 win at city rivals Rad on Friday as Serbia's first division resumed after it was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March.

Celebrations were muted, however, as the game was played behind closed doors and the 1991 European Cup winners, who won the continent's elite club competition on this day 29 years ago, were unable to share their joy with the fans. With three rounds of matches remaining, Red Star have 72 points from 27 games, 14 more than closest rivals Partizan Belgrade who are at home to Mladost Lucani on Saturday.

Up to 1,000 fans will be allowed to attend games as of next weekend when Red Star are at home to Radnik Surdulica, with the Serbian government continuing to ease lockdown measures.

Ahhhh... can Admin please move this to The Bear Pit please? Sorry:oops:

Night and day the way some countries have acted vs our wee amateurish setup all working to reward one team

Hungary started back last weekend. Poland and Czech Republic start up this weekend. Slovakia and Croatia start up in June. Most, if not all behind closed doors. The title is decided in Croatia, Dinamo Zagreb are Runaway league winners. In the Czech Republic, Slavia have an 8 point lead over Plzen. Legia have an 8 point lead which will extend to 11 points if they win tomorrow in the Ekstraklasa. In Hungary, Ferencváros have a 9 point lead with 8 games left to run. Meanwhile Slovan Bratislava have a 10 point lead in the Slovakian League.

We've got no excuse really. Other than one team wanted the title decided. It's actually quite embarrassing. If we had won our game in hand, it's a 10 point gap. Not to mention our first game back was them. It's a farce.

I’m certain our manager will mention it, maybe the odd newspaper column. And, of course, we know the answer. But Doncaster must be challenged at every opportunity. Why was the league cancelled? Why have you risked potential liabilities/ prize money of up to £10m? Why did you not play out the SPL in June/July/ August like England or the rest of Europe? What was your motivation to cancel the SPL?

He’ll come on the media and say something along the lines he didn’t make it happen, the SPFL member clubs voted to end the season. Not mention it was his resolution, his letter to UEFA pre vote, his decision not to tell the clubs of the liability, his inability to find a sponsor.

Hopefully, reconstruction talks fail, Hearts and Rangers go legal. We have to remove this creep, not least, for my own sanity!

Every team could have had the exact same payout the vote delivered without the need for a vote. They'd be no better off and no worse off, we now know clubs and particularly the lower division sides can utilise the furlough scheme up until October. So absolutely no rush at all and for no reason (except that 1 separate entity corrupt elephant in the room reason)
It still makes me sick

Does any other country's football governing body pander to one club?

(Genuine question by the way.)
