Yeah it was...not that it was called that at the time, of course...
We used to pass it on the bus through the town heading south to Ibrox. I remember the distinctive pub sign.

the Admiral Benbow was John Mcmichael"s pub in LisburnDid this pub used to be called The Admiral Benbow?
I saw that ensemble in the Shawsburn just outside Larkhall about 45 years ago.He regularly done a comedy spot with two ladies called coffee and cream getting their clothes off as the main event
Fukin what?I worked in an office in Waterloo St fairly recently and was in the Admiral occasionally for a pint, had no idea it had connections to our city rivals.
Great pub, real shame it’s closing and turning into another overpriced cafe.
IIRC The Shed & The Garage with Donald MacLeod & Micheale Pagliucca - Pretty sure his interests were bought out of both clubs by the others. Was he not involved in running one of the Dance Halls? Night Clubs years ago?
Yaaarrrrrgghhh....Did this pub used to be called The Admiral Benbow?
Muscular Arms was definitely a gay bar at that time. Admiral wasn't. May have had the odd event down in the basement but the pub itself was never a gay bar.
Was that Sandro that used to work behind the bar in the old Cathouse?Worked in the Garage in the late 90s when Dave Ross and his brother (was it his brother?), ran the place. Was filled with filth supporters. Gavin Reed was another.... he was a little wanker along with Ross. Who else was there, Sandro and his brother maybe? Brian McLaughlin (I think) too... all filth fans.
Ross is a rat bastard - years ago he promoted rebel nights like The Peatdiggers. Mate of mine worked at the Sun back then and done a story about it - he got onto Ross who shat his pants and sang like a canary so long as his name was kept out the paper - a dirty stinking grass.
I went in once with the ChapsI was always told that The Admiral was a gay bar when I was younger.
Broke back mountain!I went in once with the Chaps
every day!I was always told that The Admiral was a gay bar when I was younger.
That will keep a few posters on here happy as they seem to big fans of the pub.Re-opening at a new location, apparently.
