Albania coach fires warning to Grezda

Basically the Albanian Peña. Spent £2 million on him fs. Scouting players needs to be improved, can’t be chucking money away on wasters.

We're told that players are only signed if they fit our "ethos and philosophy". Id like to know what this means exactly and how Grezda met the criteria.

Then there's the issue of the medical. How can you pass a medical when you're injured?

It's really not difficult to see why we signed a promising 23 year old even when he was injured. We gave him a 4 year contract, so clearly the thinking was he'd be a longer term project as such.

It hasn't worked out so far and is unlikely to. It happens.

The only defence I could give that guy is that for me Wingers need to get a run of games like regardless how poor the first few times he plays are in saying that you won't get that here. And judging by his Insta it's like he's came over here just to stay in London.

He’s obviously got some footballing talent but he needs to get down to serious work if he wants to have a decent career on the pitch. Needs to listen to, and take on board, advice from the management team before it’s too late.

Pulling out of your international squad for "personal reasons" then posting pictures from the "Miss Universe - Albania" awards ceremony the night before you were meant to be playing then fucking off on holiday to Greece and posting it all on Instagram would suggest this guy clearly doesn't give a %^*&.

I assume his "personal reasons" were that playing for his country was holding him back from trying to enjoy his summer holiday.

Too busy cutting about with Albanians in the city. He's completely lost his way here. He's given up his flat in the west end. The club want rid and I don't blame them. A colossal waste of money. Money we simply do not have.

Nothing new compared to what we already know/always suspected.

An extremely poor and questionably signing from day 1 who has contributed heehaw and has already pissed off Gerrard add in his general fitness levels and his lifestyle it's no surprise he will be punted and rightly so.

Albania's entry in Miss Universe looks a nice lady

The club have made an error in judgement here.

Not only that but it goes against the grain of the “background checks/character references/ attitude fit” ethos that we are told runs concurrently with the scouting and signing.

Having said all that, we have made an error in judgement that in grander football terms has cost very little.
We thought we found a team who were undervaluing their assets(Barasic) and probably got a bit over-excited.

It happens and if im being honest, I’m happy to have the odd punt under these circumstances.
Provided it doesn’t do us real harm on the park, if we need to take on 5 Grezdas to get a Morelos then we need to take those odds.

Grezda seems like a complete waster, i hope we get rid of him asap

Eros Grezda fired warning as Rangers winger’s troubles mount
The Ibrox player has been urged to 'take responsibility' by his Albania head coach.

Rangers winger Eros Grezda has been told to "take responsibility" by his Albania manager after he walked out on their squad.
The 24-year-old – who could be sold by the Ibrox giants this summer – quit the Albanian training camp ahead of their Euro 2020 double-header with Iceland and Moldova, with the Balkan country's FA stating he had "personal problems".
But Grezda himself insisted it was because of an injury and wished his team mates all the best for the games, where they lost in Iceland, but beat Moldova at home.
Reports in his homeland suggested the real reason he left was because he was informed he wouldn't be an automatic pick and stormed out.
And Albania manager Edoardo Reja has now urged Rangers wideman Grezda to improve his attitude and commitment.

Reja said: "Eros has made his decision and it's clear he's got some problems going on.

"The situation was I had two other players who weren't going originally going to be in the team either - Kristi Qose and Odise Roshi.
"But they both chose to stay with the camp and tried to show me what they could do. They impressed me.

"I ended up using both of them and they made a big difference.
"They stayed because they have Albania in their heart.
"Grezda is wrong on this matter. He needs to start taking responsibility for his actions."
Record Sport Online revealed on Thursday night it’s believed Rangers would listen to offers for Grezda, who made just 13 appearances in the Premiership last season.
Looking increasingly like another Pena type signing!

I'll bet my mortgage on Jones doing more for next to nothing than the £2 million wasted on Grezda.

And I'm always one to back up our players to the hilt.

When do you ever hear anything positive about him? I was one of the ones prepared to give him a chance after a decent pre-season, but forget it, get him tae fùck out the door already.

He gets until January for me, but he needs to improve everything about his outlook if he wants to survive at Rangers, needs to stop spunking his load and boozing in the Glasgow casinos with his cronies and knuckle down and bust a nut.

Maybe Rangers is his 2nd job, after being an influencer on instagram.

Grezda sounds like an absolute waster. Doesn’t sound like he’s on the best of paths does it?

We’re stuck with this clown. No chances of anyone buying him.

His stats were grim before we signed him, his YouTube video was even shite. An all round disaster signing. Let’s hope lessons have been learned.

Starting to look like the proper due diligence was not done on the player’s attitude before this signing. Add that to his lack of the physical capabilities to be effective in our leave and he has been an absolute disaster of a signing.

Had we got this one right, and added true quality at the start of the season to the wide areas, we’d have had a much better go at the league last season.

You can’t ever overstate the importance of players have the right winning mentality and attitude.

It’s the vital ingredient that turns very good players into great players.

Good for you, aren’t you clever. I can’t be doing with folks who would rather be right to the detriment of the club. I hope knuckles down and comes good

Are you pished ?

I’m right because I want the best for the club, no time for players like that anywhere near the squad.

You want winners and people with the right attitude. I didn’t expect halliday to be playing under Gerrard but he proved me wrong and he might no be the most technically gifted but he gives his all and wherever he’s asked to play he does a job for us.

So as for grezda - he’s not been here long at all but has done nothing to impress.

Il assume Gerrard has already instructed his agent to find him a new club.

Its been nothing a but a costly error of judgement. The comparisons with Pena are valid.

No, mate, not pished. I'm still amazed that you could tell Grezda was shit after one performance. Or make any judgement on any player after one game. I should think you should be sending your cv in to the club

Me and was right on this occasion .

You had a 50/50 chance of being right, it’s not worth patting yourself on the back over, particularly when you’ve got a moniker like CoulibalyLoyal, presumably you thought Coulibaly would be a hit?

Judging a player after one game is just daft, and that’s me being kind.

So far Grezda has been like Harry Forrester with even less ability. I genuinely cannot think of a piece of skill, a pass, movement or a even taking someone on which have made me think he's a player. I know he scored a couple against Motherwell and I had hoped he would kick on from that but it was against 10 men and he had been terrible in the first half of the game.

I appreciate he arrived off the back of an injury and operation but usually by now I would expect some kind of indication that the guy can play a bit.

I hope he proves me wrong and becomes a success but given the reports of his off field antics its looking increasingly unlikely.
He runs backwards

Nah I watch a lot of football and just knew he was a banger. And coulibalylloyal is a joke but a better player than grezda I will add.

Mmmm I don't agree the strategy of signing players is always fraught with danger but if our biggest signings are Pena's and Grezda's most season then we will probably be stuck in 2nd place.....

Gerrard actually stated during a press conference that it was just over £2m for both him and Borna. So we clearly didn’t spend £2m on him. We need to be careful we don’t end this thread with him on Bruno Alves wages as well.

We made a few shocking signings last summer!

Sadiq
Lafferty
Grezda

...and to a lesser extent - Barisic.

I’ll stop short of saying they are not Gerrard’s signings, but anyone who thinks these are players who have the typical attributes that Gerrard wants in a player - really need their heads looked at.

Fortunately whether they are relatively new signings or not.... Gerrard has them sussed and they are or will be out the door at the first opportunity.
