Alex Lowry - A star is born

I understand there needs to be the caveat that he's just a young guy with a few appearances under his belt. In saying that though if that was a £5m signing who had made his first two appearance's we'd all be absolutely delighted with the start he's made.
Can't really assess it better than that tbh

Absolutely. Surprised he got the full 90 mins last night and thought he was tiring a bit late on, but he is playing outwith his years and experience so far.

So vital to protect him though as it takes very little for a few off performances to have folk on players' backs and he's set his own bar very, very high.

We need to be very aware of that as a support.

Rangers Academy starting to flex its muscles.

Could Alex be the third Scotland debutant over a short period of time in the next 2/3 years ?

He certainly has the raw talent & has attributes that differentiate him from pretty much all Scottish players of the last couple of decades.

He could be Scotland’s Joe Aribo once he matures physically ?

I actually liked that a couple of times he lost it. For too long we have had the safety first approach and loads of possession. Sometimes you need to take a chance and do something different.
This.
The boy's talent is there for all to see. His positivity is, as you say very refreshing.
It's now down to hard work and dedication and a little luck along the way.

He got caught making the wrong decision half a dozen times last night but what impresses me about that is he doesnt give a %^*& and keeps going.

Scott Wright had the boo-boys on his back last night and you could see it affected him. Alex Lowry could have 50,000 caning him and he would still try a nutmeg the next time.

He will go to the very top, he has everything other than physique just now.

Had the best touch and control on the pitch tonight, the experienced lads should be asking him how he does it and try and fucking do it, the amount of time we %^*& up a 10 yard pass every single game is frighteneing
You cannot teach what this boy has.
The Ferguson brothers had it, Durrant had it as did Charlie Miller and dare I say Barrie McKay had it.
The above list merely serves to remind us that whatever it is these boys had is not, in itself, enough.
The natural talent has to be allied to hard work and dedication and you need some good fortune along the way.

Watched the kid a lot in the B team and there were games where he got bored of ripping the piss out of jobbers and went into his own wee world, doing tricks, skills etc. I didn't mind it. He is a genuinely exceptional footballer.

As a Scotland fan as well as Rangers, the idea of Lowry, Gilmour and Patterson linking up is pure porn. Just wonderful talents; the rest of Scottish football should be grateful for what we have gifted them with these lads.

So refreshing to see a young player coming through the ranks.
Immaculate close control, vision and confidence.
Still to develop physically, will just keep getting better and better.

Excellent analysis and comments Grigo.
Don't you just love seeing a young player coming through. He's going to get us all out our seats for years to come.

Well impressed. I hope he continues to get game time when Joe returns. He looked sharp in that roaming 10 role. Where does that place Aribo? Or how does it affect Kamara's place? Maybe have Kamara sitting with Aribo and Lowry on either side ahead of him. Hard to see how Sands makes it in there beyond being a bench warming utility man. Hope he keeps working at it though and doesn't get too comfortable as a starting player the same way I think Kent and others have at times this season.

The wee man is class, but Joe Aribo is literally the best player in Scottish football. He is the daddy.

Joe comes back and the rest of the team falls around him. Even if that harshly means dropping Lowry.

He actually doesn’t play like a Scot 47B, he’s more like a young Spaniard the way he flirts around the park, and the relaxed way he receives rolls men & releases the ball ?

Can’t wait until he adds that physicality to his game.

It’s always the same.
Yep. I still remember Barry Ferguson first breaking through, different players obviously but I remember at the time being really impressed at a young Scottish player with a terrific touch and played with his head up.

It was our failed 10IAR season, he came in for a few games, looked great but was bombed out again and it was the following season before he became a first team regular, I think the same may happen with Lowry.

It’s great seeing one of our own come through, I just wish we could curb expectations slightly, you just know what this place will be like the first time he has a stinker or goes through a rough patch, and he will.

For now. If Lowry continues on the same trajectory he’ll surpass them all.

Don't want to start a new thread but did he deserve to not come off the bench today after such a great performance the other night especially when Kent wasn't great?
