Scott Brown 'lacks class' for Rangers con job blasts Alex Rae as Aberdeen captain's wave goodbye slammed.

The fallout continues into a new week as ex-Ibrox midfielder and pundit Rae slammed the Dons captain.

Former Rangers star Alex Rae has blasted “classless” Scott Brown over his Pittodrie pantomime villain act.

The Aberdeen skipper was back to his theatrical best last week, whipping the Dons support into a frenzy as Stephen Glass’ team held Rangers to a frustrating 1-1 draw.

But former Ibrox midfielder Rae failed to see the funny side as Brown mockingly waved Ryan Kent off down the tunnel when the Gers winger was sent-off.

Rae has no problem with Brown living up to his hard-man image but blasted the ex-Celtic hero’s play-acting, which he believes fooled referee Kevin Clancy into showing the Ibrox winger a second yellow.

Rae said: “You know what you get with Scott Brown. “You build up a reputation of someone who wants to put yourself about a bit.

Aberdeen captain Scott Brown was in full wind-up mode in the 1-1 draw with Rangers

“But when you start throwing yourself to the floor, well that’s not really for me.

“That’s not decrying the boy’s success, because he’s one of the most decorated players in Scottish football.

“But when you see someone who’s supposed to be a captain mocking a fellow pro after they’ve been sent off having conned the ref, I think it shows a little bit of a lack of class.”

But Kevin Thomson has leapt to Brown’s defence after former Rangers and Scotland stopper Colin Hendry also savaged the Aberdeen midfielder.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Hendry said: "That's not what captains do. Take the armband off, hand it to somebody else and go and do your Robbie Savage stint."

Well said, Alex.

Certainly a lot better than what that crawling bastard Thomson had to say about his mate "Scotty" the other day. Thomson can %^*& right off.

Brown's always been a classless prick, and it's good to see Rae and Hendry calling him out.

More talk about brown than Clancy from the media is a worry.

No one is even arsed about browns behaviour really, it’s expected, he’s a non entity that got ridiculed in the 6 previous old firm games he played in, the highlight of his pending retirement is still trying to stay relevant while fighting for a spot in the top 6.

Has anyone in the media actually called Clancy out or discussed the blatant cheating that was taking place?

He’ll be “clarifying” that on Radio Snyde tonight, ably helped by that nasally tit Nuremberg Spew

No arguments with anything Alex or Colin say. I would still call it out if our captain did it.

Tavernier is class though and wouldn't dream of acting like an arse.
He just concentrates on the football, encouraging his team mates and winning games for his football club.

That's why he's the captain of Rangers, while Brown's career is deteriorating by the minute, at the 6th top team in Scotland.

Yesterday's man, whose wind up antics are the only thing he can now attract attention with.

Rae is spot on. We need this to be repeated far and wide. A supposed captain cheating to con the referee, get an opponent sent off and then laughing in his face.

That’s not being streetwise or playing the game, that’s a cheating scumbag. Would these hacks and other fans accept the same if one of the Ukrainians did it to their beloved Scotland in the WC playoffs? No chance.

I personally wouldn't have Kevin Thompson back on Rangers TV. Defending a cockroach that deliberately got a Rangers player sent off then laughed about it.

I have said it over and over in different threads- an honest and decent ref would have stopped Browns antics very early in the game. Brown was allowed to get away with all these things because of the cheating ref. Everyone and their granny saw it all with their own eyes what brown was doing and Clancy let him do it.

Tavernier has a touch of class about him as a human being and is a far better man than Brown will ever be.
The difference is in terms of desire to win trophies and inspire his teammates Tav as a captain has been dreadful in the role. Successive flops at Hampden would testify to that.

Brown probably knows this and doesn't care. He'll be lapping up all the attention he's getting and it won't change how he's protected by refs and in the media.

Hang on.....Tav has no desire to win trophies and inspire his team mates? Thread on Scott Brown, somehow Tavernier gets slated in it.

Bloody hell....o_O

Well, since he'd actually had decent players around him, I can only think of 2 big games we've had at Hampden that we've lost.

The Aberdeen Semi Final, where we totally dominated the game, but McGregor sold the goal, by not coming for the corner and Sadiq decided to throw himself to the ground, after rounding the keeper.

Then we had the Celtic League Cup Final, where Tavernier was a contender for MOTM, as he laid on 3 gilt edge chances on a plate for Alfredo, while also not giving Elyanoussi a kick and seeing him substituted at half time.

The greatest ever Ranger and probably greatest ever Rangers captain, John Greig, went 6 years, with only a League Cup trophy to his name.
He went 11 consecutive years as captain without a league title and also failed to beat Celtic in 3 Hampden finals in that time too.

Apparently John Greig was a very inspirational captain, but the whole responsibility of a team's failings can't always fall on the captain.

In comparison, Scott Brown had either no Rangers in the top division, or one that was still developing and trying to get back to their previous levels.

Don't think anyone would seriously compare Scott Brown and John Greig as captains mate.

Why doesn’t he point out how Clancy let him away with it, on Clyde last week they had Clancy down as just having a bad game getting loads of decisions wrong that’s just bullshit, not seen him having one of these games against his Beloved.

The reason you are picked to be captain of a team (at any level) is to set the standard and lead by example.

When you look at the 2 teams he’s captained, that kinda says it all really

does not need to act like a reprobate to win titles, Tav leads by example by goals and assists and players around him respect him

Brown is a bang average footballer and a terrible captain. He does lack class we have seen it on so many occasions. The thing is I am not bothered by that. How to ram that type of behaviour down his throat is by beating his team and walking off and ignoring the prick, then at the end of the season tag him in a post of the the SPL trophy.

The debate is pointless. He is classless, we know what he is about. Its about stopping that, so I agree with both Thomson, Rae, Hendry.

It's not Clancys fault Captain idiot behaves the way he does ...but it's his fault if he lets him away with it ....You have to question Steven Glass and the rest of the dolly hierarchy , whose silence condones his behaviour , just another example of the way our game is festering beyond control , that it's ok to do , as long as it's against the Gers.....

Correct Alex and good to see Hendry salting the prick too .
Thompson can gtf and should never be allowed inside our stadium again ,a man i always liked but bridges burned now
