Alves

Tbf he had been training with them before the first game when he wasn’t stripped. He posted that himself on his Instagram.

Doing light training/jogging can be a lot different to being fit to play in a competitive match. If Alves was feigning injury, he’s unlikely to have thought that posting pictures of himself training was a good idea.

Jordan Rossiter trains for us occasionally.

He was trying a bicycle kick in the picture..:D

Alves should have been given more responsibility at the very outset of his signing.
We signed a leader with experience and a CV that was superior to the rest of the players at Ibrox.
Then we failed to award him the recognition that this should have merited.

Alves should have been made captain on day one.
This would have compromised his pride to have made it difficult for him to do anything other than lead from the front and take on the burden of steering his teammates as if the burden was his very own.
I think other club's call this sort of stuff....man management.

Did he not fancy the plastic pitch?
Did he play at Hamilton?

I don't think he fancies playing in the SPFL.period.i think he'll be off in the Jan.window, as he want's to be picked for Portugal to play in the World Cup.obviously if he's not playing regular for us, he's no chance of going to Russia.

Can’t blame Alves if he is swinging the lead, he’s a proven internationalist being managed by a youth team coach.

I presume he could stomach it if it was short term but when he found out it was for the season he probably thought....naw.

We will find out soon enough.
This attitude is pathetic. You know the whole, 'you can't blame them for not caring about playing for Rangers' attitude.Have some pride in your club ffs.

Bruno Alves signed when we had Pedro fucking Caixinha. He doesn't get a pass now because he doesn't really like the new manager.

SO what’s the script with Alves? When asked about whether he could have played I thought murty ducked the question, when if he was unable to play murty surely would have said so? If he’s not committed he shouldn’t be here and shouldn’t play again
I thought that too "he felt he wasn't 100%“ who's picking the team Alvez?

Get him to %^*&, waste of a good wage IMO.

Check the line ups and it’ll confirm he was on the bench silly

Portugal’s next game after our Old Firm game was against Andorra. Alves (and Renato Sanches) was dropped from the squad when it was cut from 25 to 23. He then returned to the bench for the next game against Switzerland.

Silly.

If he does leave who can actually blame him??, weve went from one disaster to another, there's no direction or leadership here, he's probably never experienced anything like it during his career

It would really hurt if Alves misses the trip to Celtic. He is one of the few leaders we have, but if he isn't up for it and is trying to avoid injury for the World Cup then i guess is better off away in Jan.

I would be amazed if an international side would want to pick a player like that

It might be the past niggles are genuine, Celtic game he did go and see a specialist. Aberdeen game away seems an odd one after him being outstanding in the Ibrox game against them. Saturday the pitch was awful.

Happy to give the benefit of the doubt, but if he gets another injury before Parkhead trip i will fear that he is at it.

Maybe this season the World Cup is distraction to him? Maybe he will get his 100 caps, get a run out in Russia and retire from international football?

Then he can kick on for us. But i was expecting some professionalism this season

A bottle merchant and a diddy? A terrible combination. Quite incredible he's had so many caps for Portugal. Make no mistake, he will be out of here sometime next month.

Don't agree with that - respect should be earned and let's face it he has fallen well short any time he has played for us and even worse is injured quite frequently.

He should have been the rock that we built our team on and many expected that to be the case but the fact that hasn't happened is 100% his doing ...

It’s incredible that someone at the end of their career isn’t as good as they once were?

I expected great things from him and not just on the park.

Mentoring younger defenders, being a good ambassador for Rangers and singing our praises to everyone that would listen.

He just seems to be here but not doing anything outstanding. I cannot work it out. Maybe he is a wage thief who is just letting time pass him by. Who knows

A guy who has played in major international tournaments; games like Fenerbache-Gala, Zenit-Spartak, Porto-Sporting; and the Champions League, is a bottle merchant bricking it from Killie away? Right you are

The guy's body clearly is starting to fail him - he's 36 and is struggling with a chronic back problem. That has a knock-on effect on the rest of the body. Would folk have been happy if we played him on that wretched pitch and he got injured for the Old Firm game?

I think he is annoyed that Murty is freezing out a lot of the non Scottish players, he probably can’t believe Wilson and Bates are ahead of Cardoso

Came here to steal a wage and that is what he has done - he won't be going anywhere in January either as he will no doubt be looking to play in the world cup, though you would imagine his "form" would need to improve drastically for that to happen ...

Another terrible signing to add to the list of failures.

He doesn't even get a game for Portugal. He should be concentrating on prolonging his club career rather than going away with Portugal to sit on the bench
