Elected new President of FC Porto after securing 80.3% of the vote to unseat Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, the 86-year-old incumbent, who had been in charge for 42 years.

They had won four titles in 42 years before Pinto da Costa became president. Yet, during his reign, which is the longest in world football, the Dragons have won 23 Primeira Liga titles, the UEFA Champions League in 2004 under Jose Mourinho, the UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

Good luck to him.
Seems he wants to be involved in transfers and youth policy.
£500 million in debt and have just sold some future TV rights for immediate cash, he'll need some good young prospects.
80% sounds like the Ultras deserted the old guy in charge.
Which is good as they'll hopefully not attack his apartment complex again.

Wanted him as our manager before Phil. Would still take him in future.

Hope it goes well for him but he's had some career, from football manager to nascar driver to president of Porto. Not quite what you'd expect

Over the last 12 years, FC Porto has added 250 million euros to its debt. While this happened, the club sold a lot of talent but had a very short revenue margin compared to the sales it made. There has been a lot of money spent on commissions, intermediaries, payments to third-party clubs, payments to training clubs, and the reality is that FC Porto couldn’t create wealth in the years they sold the most.

Unfortunately, in the years they had the most success, it was also the years where an opportunity was missed for everyone. Looking back at the last 20 years where they won 2 Europa Leagues, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 1 Champions League, it is unreal that instead of growing, they lost the connection with their fans, their association, and entered into financial chaos.

Currently, FC Porto has 88 percent of its members in only three districts – Porto, Braga, and Aveiro. The South and the Center are like a desert, with only the brave supporters outside the Porto area. The club has become closed-off and provincial instead of expanding nationally as the best Portuguese club with the most members.

The reality is that FC Porto paid a high price for having a management that became complacent over the past 20 years, turning the club into their own backyard, hindering its growth. Despite sporting success, much owed to President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, it is time for a new awakening as football demands it. Falling behind is not an option, even with a special coach who can motivate the team like no one else.
