Andy Halliday - 33 today - what was his greatest moment for us?

His MotM performance against that lot in the 1-0 game in 2018. He'd been written off by many and had to endure that game at their midden when they were all singing his name. Then he thundered into a challenge in the first 5 mins and set the tone for the game going forward and was absolutely brilliant, including saving the win with a late block that would otherwise have been a goal.

This was it for me. A guy who sat near me refused to sing his name that day because he had decided (or was told to by media) to dislike him.

Funnily enough he also wanked dugs.

Can't underestimate the significance of that day, and the performance from him. Badly needing that on 2nd January.

Any goals you remember?

Or wining the league with us?

Heart and soul Ranger.

Guy from Copland Road who lived the dream.
He left before 55, unless you're counting the Championship title under Warburton.

For me, his standouts where:

- His performance in the Semi Final against them in 2016

- His performance against them in the 1-0 win at Ibrox in 2018, the first time we'd beaten them in the league since 2012

- His performance away in Ufa where we qualified for the Europa Group stages, a year on from the Progres debacle.

His goal in the Cup final against Hibs should have been his most notable moment in a Rangers jersey, but for obvious reasons it doesn't make the list, for me anyway.

Some of the comments on here from try-hards anytime his name comes up because he is on Clyde and Open Goal are utterly embarrassing.

It’s people like Andy who the club needs at the moment. It’s a real shame there’s not many of them around.

He was a key part of why we got back to the top in Scotland.

Another classic moment was getting the headlock from Gerrard after we survived the Ufa away game and made the Europa League,

He lived the dream of each and every one of us, and should have been allowed to stay for the 55 year and get that winners medal he’d have deserved.

People overlook his qualities as a footballer because he’s a part time media pundit/podcaster too. He’d have been more useful in recent seasons (Christ, even now) in our squad than some of the shite we’ve had to witness take the field for us, that’s for sure.

I was just about to post almost word for word your last paragraph when I saw your reply.

But I'll give you the obvious reasons why it sadly, doesn't make the list. The usual squalid defending by the usual suspects put paid to that dream.

I thought he played a significant role in Gerrard’s rebuild.

He was a really decent squad player during that period.

Gerrard is a smart guy - he knew what the club needed to look like at all levels in order to topple the mentally challengeds.

I think Halliday played a large part in that. He understood it, he got it.

He was excellent at LB in the 1-0 win when Jack scored, which set us up well thereafter for a period of control in those games.

His first goal.

25 yarder and they always look that bit better when they hit the bar and go in.

Living that moment all Rangers fans dream about scoring a goal for the teddybears

Decent guy. Met him a few times and was always courteous and pleasant.
As posted, played for the team we all love. And wore the captain’s armband.
Definitely remember when he was standing over that weapon Lustig, Ryan Jack 1-0 game, and giving him pelters…

As above, his role in 1-0 game under Gerrard that really set the tone and marked the turning point in our quest to return to our rightful place.
Did he hit the bar directly from a corner not long before Jack scored in that game?

Halliday, Arfield and Kent were brilliant that day

Just to be different, the job he did filling in at left back in the 0-0 Maribor game. He was solid against a decent team.

Culshaw was going mental at him anytime he tried to venture forward!

Okay YB, tell us more about your little secret.

A local boyhood supporter who lived the dream, what more can you ask for.

Always speaks very highly and logically of us when he is on various media outlets, unlike others.

Was a brilliant player for us in the Championship but ultimately once we were promoted him (and Holt) wasn’t really at the required level for us to challenge for the title.

His long range strike in the 2016 Scottish Cup would’ve been a fitting winner on the day but for some horrendous game management.

A useful utility man under Gerrard who fell down the pecking order and was probably let go at the right time.

His performance in the 1-0 Old Firm victory. He had a great game and made a block with his body from a shot which was likely going in. His song got absolutely belted out later in the match. Also loved the reaction from the fans when he returned with Hearts. He came on as a sub when we were gubbing them and his song got belted out again.

When he scored one of the penalties in the SCSF penalty shootout against them.
He was getting the usual treatment from that mob’s fans. But when he scored his,he did a little jog along the South stand side with a little GIRUY grin.:D

Happy Birthday Andy. A Rangers fan who lived the dream. Something most of us could only dream of. Could maybe have kept him longer but in reality he would only have been a bit part player.

His goal in Scottish Cup final was a screamer but it tends to get forgotten about because of the result. If we had been able to defend the corners in last few mins his finish would have been talked about for years and go down as one of the best goals to win a final.

Class. Loved him tbh. He more than held his own under Gerrard and I was quite surprised with how much he was used that he wasn’t kept around at least for another year. Would’ve loved to see him lifting the league trophy!

Ntcham having a good 10-15 yards on him and Halliday still winning the 50/50 set the tone that day back in 2018 and for me really announced that we were back. We were certainly capable of winning the league that year, shame we had to wait an extra few seasons.

Don't talk sense. Plenty don't like that on here.

All of the above.
Also scored a decent free kick at Dens Park about 6 years ago. Memorable moment in an otherwise unmemorable game.

For some reason that was my first thought apart from b1tch slapping the scum player at Ibrox in the 1.0 game.

He was superb that day, it actually my favourite performance from any rangers players ever against them.

Did very well as a sub away to Ufa when we were down to 9.

I'm pretty sure he was name checked by Gerrard when we won 55, even though I think he had left the club by this point. Speaks volumes.

Sadly, roles reversal at present.

That’s what Taylor, McGregor and Co are lauding over us.

Taylor is an absolute no mark midget of a man. We should be cementing him early on in a game.

McGregor has owned the midfield since Davis, Arfield and Jack disappeared.
Agree with this. So many in our support look down on local Scottish lads when we have a conveyor belt of underachieving foreigners or English academy players
