For 3.5m they need a player than can hit the ground immediately. Not sure if Hickey has built up more strength over the last year but I just remember our players targeting him and absolutely bossing him physically
They are miles behind us. Celtics aim this season should be to stave off the challenge from
Hibs and Sheep for 2nd

Only time I seen hickey was against us. In those games he got ragdolled by Alfie and tav to the point I felt sorry for the lad and was wanting him subbed off. I'm unsure how 1 year in Italy could have developed him that much.

I am sure Hickey knocked back Celtic before he went Italy and by all accounts he was playing well until he had a shoulder injury( I think), so there is no reason for him to move back to Scotland .

I'd imagine he will have improved defensively, even after just a year in Italy. Whether or not he has developed physically will be of more importance after the way he was targetted by us last time round!

He probably has improved in some way, but he only got the opportunity to play 12 times because of Covid, a shoulder injury or being on the bench.

Hibs were our toughest game last season, and I think they will be again. 3rd is a scrap between St boo, St j and them.
They're still shite. It's a myth they had a good season, Aberdeen were rotten last season, got something like 1 win in 9, didn't score in months and Hibs only just finished above them

They were still our toughest game. The sheep were the kick off kings, the tims rarely managed a shot, but Hibs gave us a game. That doesn’t mean they aren’t shiete, but they are the better of the rest, imo.

no chance
SPFL mentality

yahoos are on top - no chance against them / rangers vulnerable - go for them
rangers on top - team to beat, lets scalp them / yahoos vulnerable - lets beat rangers

they should've lost many more points last season but for gutless opposition
That mentality disappeared last season mate. Look at Ross County X 2, Livi in the snow, St. Johnstone.

That is what troubled me last season, even when they were on the ropes massively, very few teams went for it whereas they'll play against us like their lives depend on it

Last January after the dubai fiasco they had 13 odd players out and hibs needed an injury time equaliser to get a point. Hibs were an absolute fucking disgrace that night, shitebags from back to front.

The scum could have dropped more points last season than they did, if only the dross making up the rest of the league had the gumption or even the most basic desire to actually beat the rats. I suppose year after year of the filth steamrolling the league completely unchallenged has left a permanent mental scar on most of the teams in Scottish football who feel beaten before a ball is even kicked

Big bad Rangers though ruining the league with "financial doping". No mention of celtic having a free pass and unchallenged access to all financial rewards available to them for the best part of a decade.

Fucking piss take.

Honestly think Ange and Mckay are deliberately being set up up for failure so Lawwell and Strachan can sneak in the back door come December/January time without much fuss.

No way Lawwell is walking away from robbing thst mob blind.

those apart, there were many game where the Yahoos were there for the taking
Sheep blowing a lead at home, bottling it away
Hibs blowing leads or having to scrape a draw

i expect Champions to be the scalp and strugglers to be regarded as fodder

If you are going to spend about £7,000 to charter a small jet from London then you need to make sure you get a photo with it to show that you are a really big deal!
Chancers that they are, they probably flew Ryanair, then seen that wee one, and got a picture took as if they were on it.

Think we've found the next assistant manager, out of contract and now the bestest ever.

Henke said: "I would say that there is no better assistant coach than Mark.

"He is a top type. He is a top character and he is what I would call a specialist in football.

"Mark had an excellent relationship with the players, but he is 100 per cent loyal to the head coach.

"I really like him as a person. Maybe there are other good assistant coaches, but for me there is no one better than Mark in Germany.

"I can't speak any higher of him.

The right backs we’ve signed in the last five years have been Kenny (loan), Frimpong (300k), Elhamed (£1.5m), Bauer (loan), Toljan (loan), Gamboa (undisclosed) and Manny Perez (free). If people really believe than in a summer where we’ve gone for a cheap managerial appointment that we’re about to start paying £8 million for full backs, they’re in for a crushing disappointment.

I will be unbelievably happy if they actually spend that money on Hickey, it sounds too good to be true.

A right footed left back that can’t contribute to attacks of defend.

If they sign hickey for 3m that will give them the best part of 10m worth of left backs … all of which are pish poor (Bolingoli 3m Taylor 2m and then Hickey 3m) all while having only Anthony Ralston as a right back haha wonderful stuff

Hickey for me looked awful at Hearts a very weak player never understood the hype.

I agree 100% thats not to say he may not become a decent player - but he is 19 and has played about 30 games in his career - is he worth 3.5m id suggest not - but who knows ... bearing in mind they have a "limited" budget this transfer window spending a chunk of it on a reasonably untested left back will be lovely.

Worth pointing out that Hickey can play right back as well. He's adaptable that way.

Wasn't so long ago many on here would have taken him for us, so I don't think it's a poor signing on paper. He might struggle, but I'd suggest he's better than they have in those positions right now.

Can cover both Left and Right back maybe only going for the one as cover rather than two

now that would make a bit more sense if he can play RB as they certainly need at least one.

would I be happy if we spent 3m on Hickey absolutely not … I’d rather have had Barry Douglas on a free for example but happy if they squander money on him.
