Argentine Superliga

Today is a big day for San Lorenzo fans: the Carrefour supermarket that has occupied their old Boedo stadium site for the last 30 years closes this Sunday. The land will officially belong to San Lorenzo, who will just have left the trifling matter of building a new stadium on it.

In case you aren't aware of this story:

Reports that Stuttgart have closed a deal for Instituto attacking midfielder Mateo Klimowicz. The 18-year-old's father Diego played for Wolfsburg & Dortmund during his career.

And Ajax are said to be interested in increasing their Argentinian contingent with a move for Defensa y Justicia defender Lisandro Martínez. President José Lemme said in reference to the dutch club's interest: "It's the most serious offer."

Juan José "El Gitano [The Gypsy]" Fernández remains at large. The police detained a male relative of Fernández wife along with his brother-in-law.

The police are suggesting Yadón was the target and not the Congressman, pointing towards a personal motive.

Ouch. 90th minute goal from Tigre puts them through 3-2 on aggregate vs. Racing - the League Champions are out.

And a night of Copa Superliga drama looks set to continue. River are 2-0 up at half-time vs. Atlético Tucumán having lost the first leg 3-0!

Given how the 1st half has gone, it won't be a surprise to see River overturn this, albeit Tucumán have come close on a couple of breaks.

Tigre play the winners from the Monumental.

The vice-president of Sarmiento de Resistencia has chained himself to the doors of the Argentine FA, demanding answers over the refereeing mistakes that saw Estudiantes (RC) promoted to the Nacional B instead of his team.
