A PAISLEY man admitted to an armed siege with police officers where he asked for Brendan Rodgers to be brought back as Celtic manager - and demanded a bag of cans.

Shaun McConville held his hands up over the events of Monday, March 18, at Paisley Sheriff Court today

He claimed he had hostages in the Springbank Road property and would kill them - and would only leave if officers killed him.

The incident was captured on camera at the time and went viral.

We told how pics and videos on social media showed a specialist negotiator outside a block of flats.

The man could be heard shouting: "I want a bag of cans, I want Brendan Rodgers back, I want a job."

He was later detained by cops

He was also taken to hospital for assessment.

A police spokesperson said at the time: "At 11.15pm on Monday, March 18, officers received reports of a male causing a disturbance on Springbank Road, Paisley

Asked for a job, clearly the mentally challenged is pleading insanity.

"A Paisley man". Ok.

Remember this from a few months ago, I opened this thread expecting him to have been offered his job back at the SFA.

Apparently this boy had some serious stuff going on and clearly had a bit of a breakdown. Apparently the guy that filmed it and more or less made it viral had the boys mates at his door. This was all hearsay and rumour in the town.

Not sympathetic to him or that, he's a poet rat, but that was the stories going round.

Don't know if the guy is a horrible bitter cretin or a normal working class football fan but if he is the later I genuinely hope he is OK. Quite clearly going through a shite time if he is demanding a job etc. and it just strikes me as another young guy struggling with life.

Agree with that, it still sits uneasy with me that this guys mental breakdown was shared all over social media for people to laugh at. Tim or not can't say I find it that funny.

yep he's friends with and related to a fair few dodgy folk from shortroods and they weren't best pleased when it was filmed and posted, different story had it been someone not known to them, they'd have been pissing themselves laughing like the rest of us. He was put into low moss after it

Worked in shortroods as a council warden when this guy was in his teens(2004-9), him and all his pals were all mental, many a story I could tell you lol
Not surprised with this to be honest used to be a daily occurance till most of it was pulled down

Used to live near there. I assume it's still standing.
In my family when someone is stupid we still say I'll be putting you in Leverndale.
Most of the old building isn't standing anymore but in its place there is many wards built over last 15 years.
I found myself spending a month in one the wards last year tbh..couldn't thank the staff enough to be fair.

This has got to be the ultimate exhibition of tremendous Tim tomfoolery.

Reminds me of the episode of Minder when the black lads took over the launderette. When asked by the police who they were, they made up the name "Independent Rastafarian Army". The bold Terry then chins them, saying "IRA" , have you thought this through?

Given the prevalence of that mhob in the arts, and their sympathisers, expect them to be working on a script where this fudd is the downtrodden hero, rebelling against the British oppressors. I just hope Robert Carlyle turns down the lead role.
