Didn't do DJ any harmWrong time to introduce in to a struggling team
On the wrong feet...When we have Ryan Jack in there running like he has welly boots on?
Fair pointDidn't do DJ any harm
Why?Wrong time to introduce in to a struggling team
In my opinion it’s the wrong time because we are really struggling in every department and I don’t this it’s an environment to introduce a young inexperienced player. Why?
And up to his waist in water...On the wrong feet...
Rubbish the boy has the body of a man he has the ability just need a manager who is brave enough to play him Spain has a boy playing tonight who is 16 at international levelFair point
but I think we as a support are far more critical these days especially when it’s academy players who come through
53 years ago. Any other example of young players thriving in poor teams?Didn't do DJ any harm
Exactly. He can either play or he can't.Why?
That’s the Scottish mentality right thereWrong time to introduce in to a struggling team
It could be a hundred years and it would still be relevant, There are quite a few down the years, Derek Ferguson immediately springs to mind, made his first team debut at 15, and Ian Durrant was another53 years ago. Any other example of young players thriving in poor teams?
It’s a completely different sport these days compares to back then.It could be a hundred years and it would still be relevant, There are quite a few down the years, Derek Ferguson immediately springs to mind, made his first team debut at 15, and Ian Durrant was another
A young pair of legs getting about the pitch rather than two plodders. It’s all very well and good saying he is too young but that’s a major part of where things go wrong for us. Those two do everything so slowly.I’d play him ahead of Jack and Lundstram.
You better tell Brighton that about the lad FergusonIt’s a completely different sport these days compares to back then.
Was at the 5-0 against Cowdenbeath when he scored 2. Why was he centre forward that day? Was Colin Stein injured, or on another unwarranted suspensionDidn't do DJ any harm
If you are good enough, age shouldn't even come into itA young pair of legs getting about the pitch rather than two plodders. It’s all very well and good saying he is too young but that’s a major part of where things go wrong for us. Those two do everything so slowly.
A thriving team playing well. The difference. You better tell Brighton that about the lad Ferguson
He was number 10 that day in the old blue and white stripes and IMO became our MVP of the seventies decadeWas at the 5-0 against Cowdenbeath when he scored 2. Why was he centre forward that day? Was Colin Stein injured, or on another unwarranted suspension
I have no idea and neither do youA thriving team playing well. The difference.
Stick that boy in the Everton team, would he have the same impact? Doubtful.
From the little I have seen of Bailey Rice, I think he is the best prospect since Barry FergusonHe’s got promise, but he’s at a stage where at most he will get minutes, as opposed to us relying on him as a first team contributor.
This is similar to the clamour for Lowry to play, and it has been clear that Lowry isn’t ready. Leon King was the same.
I think the bigger issue is getting these younger players game time when it matters. Lowry will hopefully be the better for it after his Hearts spell.
How about Bellingham at 16 playing for Birmingham full season and coming 20th in Championship. Then getting move to Dortmund just as he turned 17?A thriving team playing well. The difference.
Stick that boy in the Everton team, would he have the same impact? Doubtful.
Definitely see the potential mate, however as others have alluded to, it’s not the time to throw a young talent into a team of misguided senior pros. This is not a post to say he should be thrown into a struggling team/midfield in the next few weeks btw.
Given our lack of a natural 6, when will we see this boy get regular minutes in our first team?
We are looking for a spark here mate, maybe it's too much asking a 16 year old to provide said spark. Btw I'd say Ferguson would impact on Everton he looks like a young ShearerA thriving team playing well. The difference.

Scoring tonight.Rubbish the boy has the body of a man he has the ability just need a manager who is brave enough to play him Spain has a boy playing tonight who is 16 at international level
True mate , wouldn't want to set the boy back in his development. Still would prefer the boy to get decent minutes this seasonDefinitely see the potential mate, however as others have alluded to, it’s not the time to throw a young talent into a team of misguided senior pros.
The boy is class though, and at some point he’ll command his own place.
A generational talent lauded by everyone who worked with him, to the point that Birmingham retired his number. How about Bellingham at 16 playing for Birmingham full season and coming 20th in Championship. Then getting move to Dortmund just as he turned 17?
Despite the laughing emojis you are correct, we'll ruin these kids by throwing them into a struggling team, King being the latest example.Wrong time to introduce in to a struggling team
There are loads of young Kids from all over who get a chance apart from ScotlandHow about Bellingham at 16 playing for Birmingham full season and coming 20th in Championship. Then getting move to Dortmund just as he turned 17?
And three sizes to bigWhen we have Ryan Jack in there running like he has welly boots on?
Or it's the perfect time as he can shine, turn things around and give us all a glimmer of hope. I'd have him in.In my opinion it’s the wrong time because we are really struggling in every department and I don’t this it’s an environment to introduce a young inexperienced player.
I'm not saying play youths because of their age, I'm saying play them because they are good enoughA generational talent lauded by everyone who worked with him, to the point that Birmingham retired his number.
Expectations are also another factor.
For the record, I’m not advocating not playing Bailey Rice, but the whole ‘play youth cause the older players aren’t doing well’ doesn’t wash with me. He should play on his own value, not in others not performing.
While not disputing the value of his period in the decade. He wore number 9 and we had red shirts on that day.He was number 10 that day in the old blue and white stripes and IMO became our MVP of the seventies decade
And if he is good enough he will play.I'm not saying play youths because of their age, I'm saying play them because they are good enough
You can apologise later, already had this debate hereWhile not disputing the value of his period in the decade. He wore number 9 and we had red shirts on that day.
