If he can get fit and stay fit, he’s exactly the type of player they need. If fit and on form, he’s probably still amongst the world’s elite.

He’s had a very good career at Madrid and it’s a shame it’s ended the way it has, given the important goals he has scored for them, in CL finals in particular.

He is clearly a very good player but he will be hugely expensive, losing his pace and appetite for the game. Can see it being another Alexis Sanchez situation.

Don’t particularly like Spurs or the golf playing ape. But he’s a good player so im sure he’ll do well for them either way, especially since the EPL in general has went way backwards defensively since he was last there.

Did he play much with Kane before he left? That promises to be a real good made in Britain strike partnership

I remember reading before the move that regard less of where he was going to end up Madrid, were going to have to keep paying a portion of his wages just so they could get him out the club.

I knew Kane kicked on after Bale left but genuinely couldn’t recall if their time overlapped. Throw in Son and Ali and they could have a decent forward line.
Alli has regressed in the last couple of years. I thought he would kick on but he has gone backwards.

Good signing for them but cant see him making much difference to their final position. Still expect them to finish between 5-8th whether they signed him or not is what i mean

Funny he is still injured for another month.

SSN interview he says: “Winning mentality. Know how to win trophies.”

Lol not at spurs mate.

Should’ve signed for 55.

Having watched the Spurs documentary you can’t help wonder if there’s an issue between him and Mourinho. Maybe he’ll be offloaded now in this window.

Did Bale play for Jose in Madrid?

No although he claimed midweek he tried to persuade them to sign him.

His Real Madrid career must be one of the weirdest ever.

Scored some huge goals, a couple of them legendary; played in great teams; lifted every trophy going. Yet the last couple of years he's been cast as the class clown. Not only that, but he's embraced the tag, constantly taking the piss out of himself and the situation he winded up in. Fair enough if you're a cult figure, but it's sort of baffling from a guy — a once world record signing — who more than played his part in one of the club's most dominant eras.

I can't figure out if I respect him or not for it.

As for Spurs, I reckon he'll be okay there but isn't going to be talismanic. Once the novelty wears off their fans will realise the same problems still exist.

I just don't think they're a good team. You look at Lloris, Son, Kane (who's on the decline) as star players; Bergwijn, Le Celso, might come good. The rest? Mediocre.

I personally think the way he's treated them has been brilliant. As you say, he's won everything for them and scored huge goals in huge games for them to win the trophies yet the fans and Spanish media have treated him utterly disgracefully. I know the Real fans can be a tough lot at times but the treatment of Bale has went beyond the normal booing of players etc they do at times. It's not Bale's fault Madrid handed him the contract they did, no other person on the planet would simply walk away from money they were legally owed from their employer, especially that level of money.

His Wales, Golf, Football thing was absolute genius.

I really dont understand why they hate him so much over there. He doesn't speak fluent Spanish? Big deal, doesn't stop the City fans idolising Sergio Aguero and him being seen as one of the best strikers in EPL history does it?

Mourinho will need to allow the team to open up if Bale, Kane and Son are to be a potent strike force. They set up far to defensively at the moment which is why I think they’ll flop and Mourinho will get sacked shortly.

Spot on, he’s been treated appallingly and is showing them up for it with his stance.

The Spanish media have ripped into him from the word go. They’ve put out the “doesn’t speak Spanish” nonsense and the general public have fallen for it. He doesn’t do interviews with the media because of how they’ve demonised him, who can blame him? Sir Alex did similar with the BBC.

He was criticised for not socialising with his team mates. Don’t know what it’s like in Scotland, but Bale doesn’t go out to restaurants and eat at midnight in Cardiff? They may do that in Madrid and Spain in general, but that’s up to them. He argues that he’s an athlete and his body needs rest - and he’s in bed by 10pm.

His team mates then jokingly called him the golfer. Us Welsh constantly take the p1ss out of each other and he’s taken this to the max. The flag made by the Welsh fans was brilliant and him having his photo taken with it grinning was typical of our humour. Whilst being a bit cheeky and, granted, showing some disrespect, that’s more typical of the culture he’s used to.

They’ve denied him moves yet refuse to pick him. He’s training all week but then not playing, what’s he supposed to do?

His record out there is remarkable. Trophy after trophy with huge contributions and what is it, a goal every game and a half from on the wing? Pretty damn good I’d say.

Madrid are a horrible club and the fact that they and their vile fans are being shown up for what they are and having the p1ss ripped out of them is glorious to see.

Madrid is at fault with this drama imo

Bale has continued to train and will put in effort and score goals when picked. If he's not being picked out of spite that's not his fault

Put it this way I'd rather have someone like bale who might not care much for the club and switches off after all subs are made etc etc, but will continue to work hard and when played put in his best effort and be one of the players on the park , than have someone who sulks and puts in no effort etc

And Madrid treating him like that and expecting him to walk away and take a hefty pay cut is laughable ,

Bale has been for the most part professional and is always trying his best when picked despite not liking the club or even football in general that much.

Detest him with a passion, hope he flops.

Why ? ... I don't see whats people's beef is with him he seems a model pro, Its Madrid's fault that they gave him a massive contract and didn't play him

Have a feeling he'll spend more time out injured tho than playing for Spurs

The contract Madrid gave him was so crazy , its understandable he dug his heels in when they tried to force him out . He has done enough for Madrid over the years to be shown a lot more respect.

Arsehole who gets paid millions whilst openly taking the piss out of Madrid and their fans.

Guys a total weapon and I hope he flops.

Great signing for Spurs but I suspect a few caddies in Madrid are looking at taking a big hit in their income this year.

I think Spurs will actually play 3 behind Kane in the games they’ll be going out to win.
Bergwijn, Son and Bale behind Kane.
If Bergwijn can fulfil his potential, they could be looking at what be of the best forward lines in the EPL, if not football as a whole.

Tore Southhampton apart on Sunday
