Barcelona 1972 Rangers News front page poster!

We’ve been able to get hold of a very high-quality scan of the front page of the Rangers News celebrating the Cup Winners Cup victory in Barcelona with the players lined up in a V-for-Victory formation.

The posters are A3 in size and printed on glossy 150 gram paper - making them ideal for framing.

got original fantastic I should really get it framed

I've boxes and boxes of Rangers News in my mothers loft. Club should restart it as an app.

Anyone know if we had a kit deal with Adidas back then as every picture I have seen from the final our teams were decked out in the three stripes.

Was reading a piece online yesterday about Adidas and how they evolved into football sponsorship starting with making the world cup balls and funnily enough in the early seventies is when they started doing the famous Copa boots with the German national team being first kitted outlet with them.

Need to get up in the loft and get the boxes of Rangers News down it’s been years since I had a look.

There are a few pics of them releasing and they all seem to have Gazelles on.

As far as I can remember we didn’t have any logo on our gear until umbro in the late 70s. We might have wore Adidas but not as an official sponsor

The first I became aware of kit sponsors was the 74 WC, where Holland had a deal with Adidas, but Cruyff wasnt involved in it, so the shirt he wore only had two stripes instead of three

Umbro had a UK based distribution deal with Adidas at the time. Adidas’ operations in the UK were not fully separate from Umbro until 1986.

Our kits were made by Umbro and the Adidas tracksuits and trainers were part of the tie up. Man City had a similar thing in the late 70s.

A wee update.

The posters have proved so popular that I ordered another wee run of them - hopefully I will have them by the weekend and will post out the new orders then.

Thanks for your patience.

Glorius failure! :))

Made a bit of an arse re-ordering the posters - I mistakenly re=-ordered then as A2 rather than A3!

So this run is twice the size of normal!!!!! ie, the size of a broadsheet newspaper rather than a tabloid.

But - a bit of a bonus for the buyers!
