Barisic 2nd half

Just honking. Didn't venture forward and every time he received the ball he wanted to go back towards his goal. Frustrating as he had a good first half but you wouldn't want him in the trenches.
Interesting.

If In your opinion, (which you are quite entitled to) you thought Barasic was honking.
What adjective would you use describe the player that arguably cost us two goals then?

I'd rather he at least tried to go long on some occasions or aim something in Colak's direction.
We did find some success and space behind when switching the play. We were very hemmed in that 2nd half.

He would have been told to keep it safe and avoid aimlessly lumping the ball upfield in hope for Colak to do something or someone getting the second ball.

Rather than that Kent, Lawrence, Tillman, Kamara, Lundstram and Colak, need to move a lot more, make space for themselves and become the out ball.

Honking 2nd half compared to how he played in the first half. Goldson was extremely poor tonight and worrying for the return next Wednesday. Tav is the only one of the back 4 who has started the season well

He was clearly instructed to stay back as a few times Lundstram and Sands reminded to hang back. Most likely to do with the fact their RW wasn’t tracking back and they used him as an out ball quite a few times on the counter.

Also who is he to pass to when no one is either moving or open for the pass? You would be slaughtering him for giving it away!!
He seemed to be tucking back as the LCB in a back three from time to time, with Tav & Kent as wings, and when Borna did go forward, Lundstram or Davis appeared to tuck back.

Don’t know if that’s what happened or if I’ve interpreted it wrong lol

Yeh that was happening, Gio did it against USG last week having Borna become inverted and either being a lcb or lcm.

Yilmaz is in for an eye opener with some of these fans expectations

Sometimes this site is wonderful and a credit to Rangers, tonight we played against a top Dutch team we achieved a creditable draw and go again next week. Every weekend we play teams who are mostly devoid of any football skill and simply want to keep the score acceptable. The change we have to make in Europe is very difficult and l was very happy tonight with our effort and wonderful atmosphere. Come on Bears give the boys some slack!

Your opinion.

Thought our captan and and vice captain both were equally poor.
Both halves.
Although Tav did set up our first goal.
But he was having a torrid time, especially in the half against their very talented left winger.

Might be an unfair comparison, but when you look at Tav on the right, he takes a man on, he goes outside, sometimes cuts inside, sometimes does a quick 1-2, sometimes goes on the overlap. BB does none of this, gets shown onto his weaker foot, cuts back on himself and passes it back 90% of the time. On occasion he gets some space and can put in a magnificent cross, but it's not enough imo.

There were a lot worse than him tonight, but hey him and Sands are the current whipping boys. Granted he got caught out of position a couple of times, but he was committed, fought back to win the ball, and delivered a few telling crosses

He wasn’t outstanding granted, but not as bad as sone are making out

Pass marks for Tav for me, he always tried to get forward to link the offence and his use of the ball was decent. Gakpo is a ridiculously good talent and many more RB's/RWB's will struggle against him.

This. When you look at Tav on the other side he's more confident, more enterprising and drives the team forward from there

Far more out there deserving of this thread than him. The new whipping boy. He had a great first half and much like the rest he faded in the second.

First half he was terrific, I felt Kent let him down in the second half by not dropping deeper to receive the ball.

Barisic is nowhere near as bad as he's made out on here.

Here we have Goldson and Tav in their 5th season as a pairing and then you have Barisic playing with Davies on Saturday and Sands on Tuesday. Paired with Sands, Balogun, Bassey and Helander last season. He gets it ridiculously tight. One defender let us down Tonight, it wasn't Barisic.

Instead of talking about how bad borna was the 2nd half lets talk about how good he was 1st half he like mostly every other player lacked energy after 60 minutes

Nowhere near our worst defender tonight yet there is a thread slating him and not one on Goldson. It’s like Goldson is untouchable and can’t be criticised, he causes us so many goals and has done since he’s been with us. I was disappointed we gave him a new contract as felt we could have gotten better, But what do we get a thread on Borna again.

Whole place is tragic tonight - you’d have thought we’d lost to Albion Rovers.

Noticeable that few cuunts have reared their ugly heads again, after being missing in action when things were going well.
Usually have a wee laugh checking their post history, there's some that seem to post a negative comment on the match thread and then are nowhere to be seen if things start to go well.

Plenty on here last season could not even be bothered to comment on our run to Seville but were straight in about the transfer thread before we made a move to sign anyone.

Makes you wonder.

He played superb in the first half. 2nd half was a hell of a lot more cautious. Maybe instructions he was given?

Clearly part of the European system to have him deeper and Tav higher. Especially tonight when Lawrence was nominally on the right. He pushed inwards more central when we were attacking. Kind of a 3-5-2.

Ding ding are we not allowed to question players when it's pretty apparent they aren't up for the fight?
Not up for the fight because he didn’t venture forward, when it was blatantly obvious that he’d been asked not to.

Maybe doing his job for the team is a decent trait to have rather than one to slag him for.

Maybe if Kent would get the finger out and make a move for him (or do anything) , then barisic might just have an option and not have to turn back

Too easy to blame barisic, but for me it was kent that was honking and should have been hooked early doors.

Really.....out of all the players you pick Barsic?? Geeze peace man
I've got to the point I think it just comes down to who a poster doesn't like in the team.

They are a top class side, not very top but we were still competitive in spells.

It's in our own hands and we can still go through.

If I'm honest, they looked a better side than us last night, but we have shown we can compete with them.

This thread is actually mental.

Barisic was outstanding first half, brilliant performance.

Second half, he kept being given the ball when there were absolutely no out balls for him. Not sure what the OP was expecting him to be able to do.

He’s an easy target.

He was looking to try and play the ball forward most times, but there isn't enough movement from the middle of the park and up top, so there's not much he could do. I'll admit barasic can frustrate at times, but he was decent last night.

The issue was rather the midfield in the second half weren’t being found, they were being hounded by the psv midfield. Barisic wasn’t able to get his passes to the midfield, not sure if that was his or the midfields fault. Probably more of a case that it was just the psv gameplan in the second half working .

The amount of pressure we put Borna under in the 2nd half with our play out from the back was dreadful. This passing about the back line at times is horrendous.

Goldson can see two players squeezing up on Borna whilst he's under pressure himself yet still plays the ball out to the left.

Barišić picked the ball up on a few occasions in the 2nd half, played it inside and continued on down the left expecting a ball played into his feet - ball retention in the middle of the park was really poor at times and resulted in us losing possession.

Saw a lot of the ball in the first hald. I just wish we has shifted it right more often. Their number 31 looked nervous and didn't want the ball.

He had a good first half, second half he was hamstrung by Kent a lot of the time, being doubled up on, then when he gets the ball at LB, Colak doesnt show down the line and Kent (although injured) hides on the halfway line next to his man, there isn’t much else he can do but go backward, he cant dribble by folk like Tav or Bassey.

I must be watching a different game

Thought he was one of the best players

Not his fault if there is no movement in front of him

this

first half they targeted Tav so kent and Borna had more space
2nd half they shut down that side and Tav had more space
