Barry Ferguson : Rangers must win tomorrow or title race is dead

I'll tell you why. As I've said in other threads there was no bigger fan of BF than myself, as a player he was phenomenal for us.

However his press columns and comments over the last few years have led me to the point I cannot even be bothered reading them , the banality of them beggars belief.

So it's fcuk all to do with being a sheep.
Ok then so what should have fergie wrote then????

He's not really saying much wrong in this article, just saying the same as what we all are on here. Saturday is a must win, I can't be arsed with excuses if we don't. Just get it done Rangers, let's apply pressure to the scum!

The Ibrox side's home record has been questionable this season and Barry believes they must produce a result against the Jambos on Saturday.

    • Rangers have the best record on the road in the Premiership this season, but a failure to win more than six games from 13 at Ibrox should really have compromised their championship ambitions by now.

They have failed to ask questions of Celtic on at least three occasions already, with home defeats against Hamilton, St Johnstone and Hibs leading to frustration among fans about how much closer they could have been to the top.

Realistically, their game against Hearts tomorrow afternoon represents their last chance to lay down a marker to Celtic ahead of Brendan Rodgers taking his team to Aberdeen 24 hours later.

If Rangerswin and Celtic slip up against the Dons, they could be just six points behind the reigning champions heading into the business end of the season.

Aberdeen fans will also point out a victory for their side will also take them to within two wins of the summit and finally give us a title race worthy of its name.

Nine points may sound an insurmountable gap, but you’re talking to a guy who won a title in 2005, our famous Helicopter Sunday, when we were five points behind our biggest rivals in April with just four games left to play.

I am not saying Rangers will win the title if they defeat Hearts and Celtic lose only their third league game of the campaign against the Dons.

However, stranger things have happened. Rangers - and Aberdeen - would at least give themselves a chance and it will be interesting to see how Brendan Rodgers’ side respond to being asked a question no-one has asked them in the domestic game over the last 18 months
Celtic are not displaying the same level of form they were in the last campaign when they swept all before them and perhaps that should not be too surprising given the tempo and standards they set last time around.

Celtic earned the right to pull out cigars long before the end of the last league season as they wiped the floor with every Scottish side they faced.

This time? They might be vulnerable, but Rangers fans will never know unless their side pulls off a victory against a Hearts side that’s bang in form, having lost only once in their last 16 matches.

It’s vital Rangers players concern themselves with nothing other than a win against the Jambos and they must show a level of professionalism and character that hasn’t always been evident at home this season.
Who cares if they play fast, attractive football or grind out a 1-0 victory in one of the most boring and drab games of the season? Just win - go make it happen.

Rangers fans are desperate to see the club successful again and there’s an argument to suggest the players have felt the pressure of expectation at Ibrox in recent months.

The evidence is there in the manner of those defeats to Hamilton, St Johnstone and Hibs but they’ve been given another opportunity to show they can actually shine in the spotlight and they must lob the ball back into Celtic’s court.

I know from personal experience the difficulty in lifting your performance after a Thursday night in the UEFA Cup or Europa League, particularly away from home, no matter if the result has been good, bad or indifferent.

Celtic made a trip to Pittodrie look so easy in October when they blitzed the Dons in an impressive 3-0 victory, but Derek McInnes will surely be looking for a response from his players, who should be seething given the manner of their 2-0 defeat at Easter Road.

The home form of Rangers, however, remains a concern and it’s in stark contrast to their performances on the road, particularly in forward areas.

I’ve been really impressed with the Rangers attack in recent weeks. They look a threat with their two full-backs bombing forward, Josh Windass in the form of his life and Alfredo Morelos popping up with a few goals.

I don’t believe Rangers will let their opportunity slip this time, knowing they are unlikely to get another chance to close the gap and with an Old Firm game just around the corner.

They’ve got to put the pressure on Celtic - and keep it on. Hey, chances are Celtic players will show they can cope with the pressure, but at least they’ve got to be asked the question.

We did it that famous Sunday 13 years ago when we won 1-0 at Hibs as Celtic were stunned 2-1 at Fir Park by that Scott McDonald double.

You’ve always got to hope, must never give up, but in the knowledge you’ve got to take care of your business first and foremost and Rangers players should take heed of that as they build up to Hearts.

They might even be done a turn for once by the SPFL’s fixture planners as it looks as if my old club will have three home games this season against two of their top six rivals, most likely from Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen or Kilmarnock.

We had seven seasons when the fixture list worked against us but initial annoyance quickly gave way to an understanding we simply had to get the job done, even if it meant an extra trip to Pittodrie, Tynecastle or Tannadice.

Really, I’m not a fan of the split in its current format as it causes too many issues around the even distribution of fixtures, which is a point of debate almost every year.

The only way around it is to expand the league to 16 teams and introduce an 8-8 split but common sense and Scottish football sadly never come together often enough.

To quote a famous comedy line…that seems quite appropriate……

“Couldn't we get you on Mastermind Sybil?
Special subject the bleeding obvious!”

Nothing!!! Why does he constantly come out with mind numbing , stating the obvious stuff? To fill the column . It's boring , he's nothing new to say , he needs to move on . He was a brilliant player for us, one of the best. But his articles are sheer dross .

Mate he "writes" for a tabloid newspaper, read mainly by mongos. If it earns him a few quid then fair play to him. I don't see why folk need to get so upset about him "stating the obvious"? We all know he's never been the sharpest tool in the shed.

Surprised he’s saying we’re in a title race, given he’s quite happy to take knocks at our squad at will shocked he thinks their capable of winning anything.

Why oh why do fans quote this little turd that can hardly string to sentences together, also it’s probably Ghost written.

He's talking about the points we've dropped to shite teams and f*cked the chance to get closer to them.
Correct big yin,

And coming from the same fans who say fergies a bit slow! Ha!
Ffs Some people need to get a grip on this fergie hating patter.

Legend then,now, forever

QUOTE="Paisleyprod, post: 952399, member: 354"]We should ban threads about his ramblings.

No one really cares.[/QUOTE]
You cared enough to comment on it though.

Maybey people should just avoid threads they 'dont care about' instead??

He’s correct, but he contradicts himself when he says that our home form is shite then later on states that we may be getting a good turn for a change by playing extra home games.

Despite our poor home form most of us would prob take these games at home. I would rather play Hivs for example at Ibrox. Despite being beaten twice once was a farce the other well, if we had played the way we did in the second half we would have won. Easter road we blagged it!

I don’t agree with many of his posts but he’s spot on here! What has he said to get everyone’s back up? If we lose and say Celtic win on Sunday, that’s 12 points and 10 games. Even if we were to win our other 10, we’d still need them to slip up a further 3 times! He’s just pointing out the bleeding obvious

There was nothing wrong with it, plus he made a very good point in highlighting the fact that post split fixtures have always went against us.
Hes just saying how he sees it, dont we all do that anyway???
Even when he praises our players like tav for instance (last week) then our 'fans' still slaughter him,
We see more p.sh on here than we do in the daily record fs.

I read Barry's opinion there and thought to myself "good he's said absolutely nothing there to get peters as per".
As we should all agree he is spot on with what he says, however he also gets out to MSM that SEVEN times we have played a top 6 club away from home, that is a fact not well known to our haters as we never made a song and dance about it even though this happened when we were actually challenging for the title.
Well said Barry, always a Rangers legend son.WATP

We should ban threads about his ramblings.

No one really cares.
we should ban coments from people who say we don't care.. what do you mean no one really cares :confused:who are these people have you had a poll :confused:to confirm this or is this just your opinion, because I care hes a Rangers legend and I'm interested in his opinion soooooo

paisleyprod ( very staunch ) you said I need care why don't you elaborate please, you don't agree with my opinion that's fine I get that but because I'm sticking up for barry I need care ...why !!!

To be fair, after his recent columns this one is actually a fair read. There's nothing earth shattering but it's stark contrast to the bollocks he has been putting out of late.

The message is simple for everyone connected to Rangers this weekend: just get the 3 points.

This game is huge.... we need to turn the screw.

I haven’t read the article

Rangers need to win the battle

Rangers are behind Celtic

Celtic will win the league

This the angle

And few listens

He does a bit of punditry for STV on the Peter and Roughies football show.Is that a crime?
I've never seen him on the BBC and I don't buy the papers anymore.I just don't understand the hate for probably the best CM we've had since Gazza or Sounness.
