Bayern Munich AGM Looks Lively

Am I wrong in thinking that the fans over there can actually do something about that?

What crap was that mate
About the ticket prices, led to many people thinking every ticket is like 15 euros. They have over 280,000 members right now at 60 euros a season, in 2013 they’ll have had about the same - quite a revenue each season that. Being a member means you get a vote on Club issues, this what it’s all based on in Germany regarding fan power - this is what they now are trying to take away.

Think this sort of stuff further highlights the divide between fans and club owners in modern football. Can probably guarantee the people at the top in German football want rid of the 50+1 for sure.

So what’s the issue with Qatar?
They don't want Qatari money in their club, they think the country and it's practices are reprehensible but the Bayern board are more than willing to take the coin.

The fans absolutely do not want their club with "Qatar" anything on it, they forced through a resolution to close the Bayern Munich shop in the Qatar airport last year and the board were furious.

So the Board took a different approach and got Qatar Airways or some other Qatar State entity as a shirt sponsor for the next 5 years or something. The fans took the board to court and won, stopping the sponsorship

Recently, the fans figured out the next plan of the board was go through the AGM with the sponsorship issue "settled", appeal against the original case in court, win the appeal and force it on the shirt against the fans wishes and because it's after the AGM it wouldn't go to a vote (which the fans would vote down)

So, the fans proposed a vote on the AGM which would stop any future deals with Qatar, the board took the case to a local court and got an injunction on the proposed motion so it wouldn't be at the AGM.

So it's on. Bayern's board found a way to bypass the 50+1 rule by just not having votes on things, just doing them and now the fans are starting to get the signatures together to get rid of the entire board of Bayern Munich.

Going to be a tasty one.

The CEO decided to close the meeting early. I remember Murray saying at an AGM, no more questions. I think Mr Dingwall stood up, said he couldn't do that and got the auditors (?) to confirm he had to continue until the shareholders agreed.

Brilliant post, mate. As @GovanFront4 says, it's beyond me how any fan could see something like this and their first reaction is to side with the board.

Bayern members are saying "we don't want the deal with Qatar to be renewed," and the board is basically fobbing them off with "let's talk about that another time." It's bullshit and completely against the ethos of the club.

Fair fucks to them

Havent read into it in to much detail but from what I gather then fair play to the fans.

Always seen Bayern as a proper Big Club in amongst the steroid pumped Man Citys, PSGs, Chelsea, Barcas and Reals.

Good on them.

If going down this route though, are they happy to continue having Allianz as a sponsor and naming rights of the stadium?

Are Allianz really comparable to the Qatari regime?

I wouldn't say I was necessarily making a comparison.

Allianz was a major supporter of the Nazi regime. Hitler's first cabinet included the head of Allianz and the Allianz Director-General was Hitler's economic minister during the Third Reich.

After Reichskristallnacht in 1938, he was responsible for the creation and enforcement of a Nazi policy to block insurance payments to Jews for their damaged and stolen property and instead direct the payments directly to the state. Allianz records show that the company benefited by stealing the amount due for these claims before they made the payments to the government, and recorded it as "business as usual." The organisation cooperated closely with the Nazi government to locate the life insurance policies of those who were sent to death camps.

Allianz insured the property and personnel of Nazi concentration camps, including the infamous Auschwitz extermination camp, and the Dachau concentration camp. Allianz also insured the engineers working at the IG Farben Company, which supervised the manufacture of the Zyklon B cyanide gas used at Auschwitz and other camps to systematically exterminate Jews and others during the Holocaust. Since, as part of the procedure of issuing the insurance policies, Allianz Group inspectors would have toured the camps to make a detailed assessment of the high risks involved at every step of the operation, they were fully aware of the purpose of the camps.

Bayern is a club with Jewish origins so having an organisation who profiteered and was significantly involved in the organisation of the holocaust as a major sponsor and holding the naming rights of your stadium seems quite ethically questionable if you're challenging that sort of thing.

Think this was all sorted a long time before Bayern got involved with them to be honest:

I guess they could have changed their name and started again though, certainly doesn't appear they were in anyway in denial of what went on.
