Benfica v Sporting Lisbon on Saturday

Looks like Bet365 are showing it.

Benfica away to Braga in the final game too, so not necessarily guaranteed to win the league even if they do beat Sporting.

If they beat them by 2 goals they've won it (I think!)

Really can't wait to watch this, I've been delighted they kept pace with each other the last few weeks.

Could be doing with Benfica and Brugge winning their leagues tbh. Otherwise in the 3rd qualifying round we could have Benfica, Brugge, Feyenoord, Lille (or any one of 5 others from France tbf), Fenerbache and us with only 2 qualifying and us being neither of the top 2 seeds.

They both win their leagues then we become top seeds and unable to play Feyenoord either. Would still leave Sporting, Lille (or whichever French team from Monaco down), Fenerbache, USG and others but certainly makes it easier for us as Sporting and likely the French side (or Fenerbache if it's one with a lower coefficient) wouldn't be potential 3rd round opponents for us.

If they win by 2 clear goals then they are Champions if the OP is correct that H2H goes before GD

Thanks for that
These results never seem to go for us so it would be a pleasant change if Benfica and Brugge qualify automatically

My Porto supporting friend now hates Celtic with a passion, I’ve managed to brainwash him

When we speak he often refers to Benfica in the same way we do them, sees them as protected club in Portugal who get all the decisions and have refs in pocket

For that alone I’m all in on Sporting!

Despite Sporting's horrible colours, all the ones I've met are pretty sound guys. However, I've seen Benfica twice in Portugal and I'm not supporting a team in green and slightly whiter hoops, so Vamos Benfica

It's fucking shit that it isn't being properly televised in the UK.

Something needs to drastically change 'cos all this does is encourage people to use a Firestick.

My daughter is potentially going to it with the school football team. They are spending the week training with Benfica and then going to a game.

At the moment it's Benfica v Sporting but they said they should be going to it but they haven't confirmed it because they can't guarantee 54 tickets together or something. They should be good for it though as we haven't heard to the contrary yet.

She is a veteran of half a dozen to ten Old Firm games so far so it'll be an interesting experience to take in another big city derby.

She has been to the Etihad and the San Siro so far and says neither of them compare to Ibrox (which they don't), but Estadio de Luz looks absolute class. Not Ibrox class, but a fantastic looking stadium.

In contrast, I got a trip to Ally Park with my school, eh, Ally Parade Primary :D

What an experience that will be.

Could just imagine the thread on here if there was an old firm title decider and a Portuguese school were getting 54 tickets

:))

Yeah, it's why I was able to put myself in the shoes of the Benfica guys :D

Amazing experience for them. I'm a bit jealous. :D

I said to her, it will be easy to support Benfica for the game as Sporting wear green and white hoops!

Looks like the kids aren’t getting to Benfica v Sporting after all. That’s a shame.

They are getting to the Braga game instead who seem to be playing some team called Casa Pia. Bit of a climb down though :D

I'm watching this with a group of sporting fans at a bit of a watch party, I'm quite looking forward to watching it stress free unlike everyone else.

Title is decided on head to head. Sporting won 1/0 earlier so whichever team wins tonight will be champions unless...
Benfica win 1/0 and then it goes down to goal difference.
Sporting have never won the title at Benfica ground.

Surely if Benefica win 1-0 they move 3 points ahead and win on points? Unless I’ve read that wrong.
